Y/N POV
Once the sun began to raise, my eyes began to flutter open. It was cold, a windy day. Sitting up slowly and cracking my neck, I looked at the sky. It was around noon so we still had time. Yawning, I stood up and cracked my spine then rubbed my eyes.
As a first response I kicked a rotting apple at kasumi's back.
"Wake up sleeping beauty, we have a town to terrorize" I demand at the now-half-asleep boy.
"Fuck off, I'm sleeping." Kasumi mumbled with his face pressed into the ground, and laying on his stomach.
I scoffed at his stubbornness and out of the corner of my I noticed a worm on the ground. After some short consideration I reached down to small earth warm and pinched it lightly. It squirmed in my fingers as I took a couple steps towards the asleep boy.
"I won't hesitate to shove a worm down your shirt." I said while pulling a sinister grin.
Kasumi turned his head to face me with a look of disgust. His eyes were barely opened from the eye crusty's and his hair was a bit messier then usual. But still he refused to get up, probably thinking I was bluffing.
"Suit yourself." I said with a smug shrug and tossed the worm at his shoulder, lightly.
"EW, EW! GROSS" Kasumi immediately started to frantically wipe of the wiggly creature from his sleeve, getting up in the process.
I immediately burst out with uncontrolable laughter, wheezing like a choking pig. It hurt my stomach from the sudden hard exhales I was out putting.
"Y/N WHAT THE HELL!!" Kasumi barked at me and stood up to face me.
"Yo- I-" I couldn't stop laughing. Kasumi never liked bugs or anything tiny and alive every since one time he fell into a ant hill.
"Y/N YOU-" Kasumi tackled me in the stomach before he could he even finish his own sentence.
"Oof-" me and Kasumi fell to the ground with me pinned down. I choked and the sudden attack and immediately brought my knee up to nail him in the stomach.
"OAf-OuCH." His immediate response was to let go of me to cradle his stomach from the bruising pain.
"YOU LITTLE SHIT HEAD." I screeched and pushed him off of me while he was venerable. I stood up as quick as I could and crossed my arms.
"AaaHh- my stomaaach, Y/N!" Groaned my partner in crime still on the ground.
"MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TACKLED ME THEN." I argued loudly at kasumi.
"You threw a WORM at me." Kasumi pointed at me with his back still on the ground and his other hand clutching his torso.
"Whatever Worm-boy, we are wasting daylight and we have a village to visit before sundown!!" I ignored his accusations and pointed out what little time we had. To be fair I had to wake him up somehow.
"Yeah yeah, I'll go get the bags just give me second." Kasumi muttered with now both of his arms around his belly and in an egg position.
(EPIC POGGERS TIME SKIP)
Me and kasumi made our way to Melian town with bags filed with weapons. I had homemade bombs and matches in a bag I had on my back while Kasumi had two bags, one empty and the other filled with his bow and fire arrows. We travelled quickly using the trees as an advantage by swinging our self branch to branch.
We where almost at melian town knowing by a a faint gravel path starting to reveal itself. The trees get thinner around the path so we divert our course slightly to avoid the path and being seen.
We didn't know much about this town, other then a OK blacksmith and a large enough market that we would rob. Hopefully this town was good enough for us to last without food for a while. Melian town had a small stone wall around the exterior, but it wasn't taller then a couple of trees that we would use to easily hop over.
Once we get inside the town we travel along the roof tops, it is a dark and cloudy night so being sighted isn't a big concern at this point of the plan.
Next we set fire to the town, starting at the library and come down to where most of the houses where located. The town was fairly small so it shouldn't be a big issue to burn it to ashes.
...
We stayed perched on a roof top looking at the library, it wasn't far from the market which was our main target. Even though it was night, lots of stands still have their goods out in the market. The blacksmith shop was near as well, only a couple of buildings away in fact. So we would raid the blacksmith first for weapons and then look through the market and before we leave we set off our fire arrows right at the library.
I took a deep breath in, although this town was small it was closer to the Castle of the kingdom then any other village we attacked before. It was definitely one of the riskiest things we've even attempted to pull off.
"You ready?" Kasumi asked, pulling his hood over his head and nodding.
"Huh yeah." I fell back into reality, pulling my own hood on and Equipping two of my axes.
Kasumi dashed across the roof tops toward the blacksmith with me following close behind. We both moved quickly although trying to keep down low as to not draw attention to us.
Once we reached the building of the blacksmith we climbed down on the side of the house and Kasumi swung himself feet first through a window, landing inside the building with his bow drawn.
The blacksmith was sitting down at a table and saw us come in. Before them got to react Kasumi shot them in throat, killing them immediately with only croak in response.
I jump through the same window and without hesitation I start to search to place for weapons or other useful goods. Out of the chest I scoured and the cabinets I emptied, there wasn't much but enough to last us for a while.
I put all the smaller weapons in Kasumi's bag and passed kasumi 2 swords which he'd placed in 2 slots he had prepared on his backed. I took 1 swords and placed it on my belt beside my axes. I took another sword and placed it in it's on slot on my back.
Truth be told me and Kasumi had little experience with swords, they just didn't mix well with our 'strategies' of fighting. I always like the quick throwing of my axe or the option of close rage with easy mobility. Kasumi was always an archer, he learned before I actually met him.
We then left the house out the same window we entered, climbing back on the roof and running towards the next house.
Jumping from roof to roof again we reached the market quickly without any notice. We jumped down from the house, onto a near by stand with a clothe shade on top, then slid of onto the ground.
Immediately we start to grab food from the stands, moving has quickly and quietly has possible. Running to a stand selling mostly vegetables a begin to fill by bag with potatoes and such.
Then corner of my eye I saw a slight movement. I stop stuffing my bags, draw to axes and get into a battle position, facing the suspected threat. It's a small village child, big eyes staring right at me.
"Hey- hey, Mister! I'll tell my dad- daddy you're stealing from his shop!" The small child announced confidently with the odd nervous stutter.
In a low quiet voice I respond. "Is that so?" I begin to approach the child with my axes still drawn. Not even a couple steps in the child suddenly started screaming. Caught of guard I stop to cover my ears with the palm of my hand avoiding my axes hitting my head. This child was positively part Enderman by the signature screech abrupt from its throat.
Maybe a moment pass before I could get my head straight after the numbing sound. I was never good with loud noises and the Enderman screech just really disorientated me.
Before I knew it villagers were running to go get guards and Kasumi was right beside me with a scared and concerned look.
In in slight panic state I order Kasumi. "Kasumi you keep collecting food, I'll hold off the guards!"
"But-" kasumi started to speak.
"don't worry I got this" I interrupted him, then placing my hand on his shoulder giving him a 'trust me'
He grins softly and nods. At that I sprint away with axes in hand. Infront of me a single guard charges at my direction, I get into prepare stance.
The guard had a spear in hand, charging at my stomach. Before any contact is made I swung my axe at neck of the spear, breaking it off before it stabs me. I then grab the broken spear and yank it to the side, causing the guard to fall. In a blink of an eye I swung my axe at the exposed shoulder, angling towards the neck. With the sound of a crack bone and a grunt, the guard likely died.
Then before I could catch my breath, the sound of metal footsteps from behind close in to my location. With a heavy breath I pull my axe away from the dead guard and spun around.
I had little time to react has two dangerously close guards faced me. I threw my one of my axes at a guard face, hitting spot on making them fall backwards unresponsive. I lunged sideways away from the guards spear nearly hitting me and gripped the spear. With a hard yank I pulled the spear from they're hands then chucked it away while in the same motion throwing an axe right above the chest plate.
A another guard charged at me from my right as I quickly yanked the axe from the most recently killed guard and threw it at the guard's neck, stopping him in his track's immediately.
Down to two axes left has the last two were left in dead guards. I pant heavily before I notice another three guards running at me spears in hands. I groaned pulling out my last two axes from the holders and chucked one at the middle guard. Hit in the face, dead. Still two more guards continued to run at me armed and ready. I'm down to my last axe.
I charged at the guards, dashing away as one of the thrusted they're spear at me. I take a risky swing at that guard's neck, digging the blade into has much flesh as possible then yanking it out to attack the other guard. Before I could even throw my axe a spear is being thrusted at my hip. In a last resort I attempted to stop the spear itself by lodging it into the handle. But I was just a little to slow. the spear was a little to close has the axe hit the spear it only pushed the spear lower and instead pierced my leg.
I screeched before the spear was yanked out of my leg and I fall over. The guard holds the spear over my head and I throw my last axe at the guard. It's difficult to throw things when you're laying on the ground so naturally the axe only hit the upper arm of the guard. They yelled and grunted slightly before they refocused on ending the threat, me.
I don't even shut my eyes to brace for the spear, I instead stare them dead in eyes as the spear is raised above me head. Then suddenly the whoosh of an arrow whistles and stops as it hits the back of the guards head. I see they're eyes widen then they began to fall towards me. With my last bit of energy I kicked the guard with my unharmed leg, pushing them away from me.
With a thud the dead guard hits the ground and I glanced over to see an arrow perfectly piercing the metal helmet. I groan as a wave of pain shocks throughout my body. I began to attempt to sit up realizing Kasumi was running towards me.
"Y/N ARE YOU OK?" Kasumi questioned, crouching down by my side.
"Argh my leg-" I groaned, seething in pain.
"Here." He simply stated while not hesitating to rip up part of his sleeve then wrapping it around my leg. It was a quick tie but we didn't have much time and my injurie could already be infected.
"Cmon we got to go!" Kasumi ordered, helping him up and holding me up.
More guards came running towards us, without much time for us to prepare. Kasumi clumsily grabbed my bag, reached for the nearest bomb. He then quickly grabbed a match from my bag, shriking it on his horn then light the bomb fuse and discarding the match on the ground. He held the bomb high above his head with his free hand while holding my body weight with the other.
"GET ANY CLOSER AND ILL BLOW YOUR HEADS OFF." Kasumi shouted out, making the charging guards hault and taking a couple steps back.
"What are you doing!" I shout-whispered at Kasumi.
"Saving our asses." He shout-whispered back.
The bomb was already lit and there was no waiting for the guards to just leave. Kasumi chucked the bomb as hard had he could. Luckily it landed just behind the guards.
"Go. RUN." Kasumi yelled as we turning around and limped-ran away.
The bomb exploded behind us, sending debris from all directions. We had gotten far enough to avoid the blast of the bomb, but we were still at risk of more guards.
"We need another diversion!" I mentioned as I realized we would not make it too the forest intime before another batch of guards came.
"Hold on." Kasumi helped me rest onto the ground before he reached into his bag pulling out his bow. Then he grabbed six fire arrows, striking one on his horn like the match, setting the tip on fire. These arrows were heavier then normal ones and harder to obtain but with the few we got Kasumi learned how to use them with his bow. He draws back the arrow, aiming for the building and shooting it. The fire spread quickly as he shoots the other five arrows, burning down this town.
With the fire spreading, guards are more concerned with getting villagers out of houses then stopping our escape.
The dark night sky glows with the embers of flames as Kasumi stand by my side watching the fire burn down an innocent town. There is no shame or guilt only a sense of bitter pride as we disappear back into the forest.
...
We continue running into the dark forest with only the light of the fires from Melian town showing the path through the woods.
"Kasumi- my axes there still at the- the town." I gasped, not only did I lose my weapons but now left evidence.
"It's to late now, we have to get far enough from the Melian town that they can't fine us.
After some travelling we climb into a tree with Kasumi assisting me up. The tree was large and we could rest for a bit as Melian town was far enough away that only a faint glow in the sky could be seen in its direction.
"...Hey kasumi, you really saved my guts back there. Thanks man." I smiled as I grabbed my bag, pulling out an old map from we stole from a couple towns back.
Kasumi looked at me and smiled, adjusting the tie on my leg. "Yeah of course y/n, what would I do without you! I depend on you."
I chuckled. "I depend you too buddy."
The next closes town was quite far away especially on a hurt foot. Even on horse it would take a day at most. Me and kasumi both signed, this was going to be next to impossible.
"It's so far away." I muttered, my voice cracking from another wave of pain.
"Maybe we can- I don't know... steal a horse or something?" Kasumi mumble, trying to think of a solution.
"How? There's no way we're going back into melian town, they probably already sent people to find us!" I pointed out.
"Well we can't just stay here then!" Kasumi snapped, stressed out.
"Hey, it's fine I can walk for a while." I reassured Kasumi, I couldn't have him worrying about me.
"Are you sure?" Kasumi looked down at my leg, frowning.
"Yeah I can walk, we can make it." I tried to convince myself more then him.
"But even then it'll take a few days to get there." Kasumi added, looking at the distance at the map.
"Well we better get going then!" I said confidently, carefully lowering myself down from the tree.
"Are you sure?" He gave me one more concern look.
"I'm completely sure." I began limping slightly, following the direction on the map.
I may have lied to Kasumi, I knew that I probably couldn't last long on my injured leg. But I could possibly make into the next town. Hilltoe-village, a much larger town then Melian town and probably had a doctor who could help with my leg. We could stay there for a few nights then steal a horse or two, leaving hilltoe-village and heading towards the mountain gate.
The only problem is that Hilltoe-village was dangerously close to Erihurst. Erihurst was none other then where the castle of this kingdom was which was the last place we wanted to be. If we get caught, straight to the dungeon and never see the light of day again. So the moment we leave this kingdom, through the mountain pass, we could move on to the next kingdom and start a new life in the mountains. Just me and Kasumi, alone with no guards or laws.
Everything would be just as it was meant to be for us.
