Chapter 2: Day of the Dino: Part 2

"Hey, check it out," Conner grinned, walking over to a model of a t-Rex.

"Hey, remember what happened the last time you did that?" Ethan said, trying to stop him.

"Dude, he's a teacher, not..." Conner stopped as he pulled the dinosaur's and a trapdoor opened up beside the table. "Batman..." He finished as they both looked at the door in astonishment. They looked at each other for a moment and walked down the steps, finding themselves in the same lab as before.

"This is the same place," Ethan realized.

"Are you freaking out right now?" Conner asked.

"Yeah," Ethan nodded. "I'd have to say I am."

"If you're looking for extra credit," they turned around to see Doctor Oliver standing with Zoey, Jenna and Andy, looking very unhappy. "You're in the wrong place."

Conner and Ethan stood in the middle of the lab, staring at their teacher and classmate.

"Doctor O, before you go off, can we explain why we're here?" Ethan said as he and Conner backed up.

"Dude, he's just gonna laugh if we tell him," Conner shook his head at Ethan.

"It's the truth. He'll believe us."

"All right." Conner sighed, "Kira's gone."

"She got taken by these weird-looking dinosaur things." Ethan continued

"He doesn't look convinced," Conner whispered.

"They're called Tyrannodrones," The teacher sighed before turning away.

"And you know that because...?" Ethan trailed off as they followed him.

"He helped create them." Zoey admitted, looking at the teens.

"Oh, class project?"

"It's a long story, but for now, we gotta figure out what they want with Kira," he turned around, seeing the girls nudge Andy.

"That's actually what I came down here to tell you." He admitted, looking at the other boys.

"It might have something to do with these." Conner shrugged as Tommy stared at them.

"We're really sorry," Conner sighed as they gave Tommy the Gems. "How were we supposed to know those things had, like, superpowers, and that those lizard dudes would come looking for them?"

"I guess it isn't something you see every day," he admitted with a sigh.

"Sort of like a science teacher with the ruins of an ancient civilization under his house?" Ethan gestured around at the lab.

"Ruins? Ancient civilization?" Jenna smirked, "Too much sci-fi."

"To be fair, I've been down here once, months ago, and it looks completely different from before." Andy took his gem back, "Plus, we were nowhere near the house. I knew I had seen that damn symbol before, I just couldn't place it."

Conner stepped forward, "Like, not that this isn't all really cool, but, seriously, dude, you gotta come clean."

"Ok, first of all, don't call me dude." He pointed to his three new roommates, "I get enough of that from those three. Second, as hard as this may seem, you two need to forget about all about this. We'll find Kira." He turned away to walk over to the computers. Next thing he knew, Conner had used his super speed to block his path.

"The Gem's powers are already starting to bond with you," he spoke, smiling with approval.

"You can tell us all about it now, or at my next parent teacher conference."

"I know you didn't just threaten my brother?" Zoey started to storm over to him, only to have Jenna and Andy pull her back.

"You can't kill him, Z." Jenna said, struggling, "He needs to go home for supper."

"I'll just mangle him a little!"

The teen in red stepped back, suddenly very scared for his life.

Zoey looked in the rear-view mirror of her Jeep, following Tommy down the road, "How does it feel?" She asked, pointing her question at Andy. The other two boys were with her brother. "I mean, being able to control lightning without using your Ninja training."

"Different." He shrugged, "At first, I didn't realize what had happened. Then, when I did it on purpose, it felt... right." The girls nodded, knowing exactly what he meant. "It's also scary. I mean, the other's powers are different. Kira needs to learn how to control that scream, but as a singer, it shouldn't be hard. Conner has that speed, but he's a jock. He's got this natural athleticism that's gonna make it easier for him. Ethan, with his armor, just needs to worry about not letting anyone hit him."

"But you, like Zoey and I, have a different problem." Jenna turned to look at him, "You're gonna be worried that you'll set off lightning in the school. Electrocuting someone just for brushing past you. You're scared of hurting someone innocent."

"Yeah, I am." He looked down, unable to think about anything else.

"Look, we get it. We were in your shoes." Zoey parked behind Tommy at a stop sign, "As soon as it happened to us, we were petrified. But we had Tommy, Hayley and Jason. They talked us down and kept us centered. They're the ones who helped us get control."

"And we'll do the same thing for you." Jenna pointed, eliciting a smile from him. Before any other comments could be made, they saw a flash of green light and Kira fall on top of Tommy's Jeep. Look around at each other, they got out to join the others.

"How did you do that?" Ethan asked as he and Conner helped her up.

"I have no idea. One minute, I'm being chased by Franken-lizard through his creepy lab, and the next thing I know, I'm a hood ornament!" She explained, a little shaken.

"Invisiportal." Tommy said, looking worried.

"The new generation of teleporting?" Zoey smiled, looking at her brother.

"Whatever." Kira shrugged. "Next time, I'm calling a cab." She looked around, "What are you guys doing here?"

"We came to rescue you," Ethan admitted.

"Nice job. Way to show up when I don't need you anymore!" She complained.

Another flash of light caused Andy to look over in concern. The Tyrannodrones reappeared, being led by a new figure in black armor, carrying a shield and sword.

"You sure about that?"

"Who the hell is that?" Zoey asked looking at Jenna, who just shrugged.

"Zurgane 2.0?"

"His name is Zeltrax." Kira stated, standing beside them.

"Zurgane or Zeltrax. Who cares. Both are faceless villains doing their master's bidding." Zoey smirked, "And he'll go down, just like the last one."

Tommy stood in front of them as they got ready to defend themselves.

"Mesogog find a new goon to do his dirty work?" he asked, mockingly.

"You are not fit to speak my master's name," Zeltrax growled, pointing his sword at them, "Come with me peacefully, or suffer the consequences."

Tommy looked at his sister, "We're gonna have to say no."

Zeltrax growled and swung his axe at Tommy who ducked to avoid being decapitated. At that, the Tyrannodrones ran at them and attacked.

Zoey and Jenna stood back to back and looked around at the mutant lizards surrounding them. The girls looked at each other and grinned. Attacking simultaneously, they each kicked their opponents, sending them flying back. They dodged and punch one Tyrannodrone after another, fighting them off with the ease of experience. Blocking one coming at her, Zoey flipped it and punched another attacking from the side. She jumped over it and sent an energy blast, throwing them back into Jenna, getting encased in ice.

"You've been practicing!" Zoey grinned, high fiving her friend.

"Needed to catch up with you, Miss Mystic." Jenna laughed.

They ran over to the others, who had just finished their own opponents, rejoining Tommy.

"Make sure you tell your master, Doctor Oliver's back." He called out, barely out of breath from his own fight.

"I will inform him that this battle is over, but the war has only just begun." Zeltrax replied, disappearing with the Tyrannodrones through an Invisiportal.

"That's the best he could do?" Ethan questioned, smiling.

"Seriously?" Andy raised a brow, "You look like you're about to hyperventilate."

"Let's get outta here. It's getting late." Tommy called, standing by the Jeep, "I don't want your parents to worry."

"I bet you don't," Conner frowned. "Then you might have to explain something."

"I'll fill you in tomorrow after school, I promise." he insisted. They sighed as they got in the Jeeps. Zoey, frowning, looked at Jenna. They knew exactly where this was leading.

Andy had just walked into class the next day, talking with Ethan, when they saw Cassidy walk over to Kira.

"Kira Ford, Cassidy Cornell, Reefside News Network."

"Cassidy, I know who you are." Kira said, sighing, "We're in homeroom together?"

"Yeah, anyway, what can you tell me about the mysterious goings-on at Reefside? For example, the sudden friendship between you, Conner McKnight, Ethan James and new kid Andy Park?" Cassidy asked, firing off questions.

"Look... " Kira said, trying to answer, but the blonde reporter interrupted

"Or better yet, the strange creatures that appeared out of nowhere, and they just attacked you in broad daylight? What about that, huh?" She demanded.

"Look, I have no idea what you're talking about. But as you can see, I'm just fine," Kira held up a hand, "But you..." She paused, "You look kind of, oh, pasty."

Cassidy's eyes widened in horror, "Pasty?! Are you serious. Oh, I hate fluorescent lightning." She pulled out her mirror just as Tommy and Zoey walked in.

"Cassidy, unless you plan on giving a lecture on the Mesozoic period, I suggest you take your seat." He said, causing her to sigh before moving to her char, "Thank you," Zoey smirked as she put her bag down on her own table, "Ok, who can tell me when it all began?" he asked, looking around the room. Andy was about to raise his hand when the ground began to shake, and the lights flickered.

When the backup generator kicked on and the students ran to the windows to see what was going on. They looked outside to see that black clouds had gathered in the sky to cover up the sun.

"Yes!" Devin exclaimed, running into the classroom, "You are not going to believe this!"

"Lemme guess, the sky just went black in the middle of the day?" Cassidy asked sarcastically, pointing to the windows.

"It did?" He looked over and smiled. "Whoa, look at that!"

"Devin, hello! What?!" Cassidy demanded, waving a hand in front of his face.

"I just heard this whack report about mechanical dinosaurs attacking down-town," Zoey, knowing exactly what those were, looked over at Tommy in alarm.

"Oh! Grab your camera!"

"Wait, hold it you two!" Tommy said, trying to stop them

Principal Randall's voice came over the intercom, "Everybody stay calm. The mayor has declared a state of emergency. Please report to the front of the school for immediate dismissal. Again, remain calm."

As everyone was leaving, Jenna ran in to meet up with Zoey and Tommy, who were still standing in the class with the teens.

"Doctor O, now would be a good time to have that little chat," Kira said, as everyone met in the middle of the room.

"We're outta time. If Mesogog revived the Bio Zords, we gotta act fast," He said shaking his head, "Come with me."

"I knew it," Andy muttered, following him out the door, "I just knew it."

"What's the worst that can happen?" Ethan asked, looking at Conner.

"Did you really just ask that?" Jenna turned to look at him, eyes wide, "You never say that. Ever! Especially around us." The two girls shook their heads and walked out.

"What's their problem?" Conner looked at Ethan, who just shrugged.

"So, these mechanical dinosaurs, they're your friends?" Kira asked, as everyone followed Tommy into the lab.

"Bio Zords," Tommy correct, trying to make them understand, "Fusion-powered replicants, using actual dinosaur DNA for their neurofunctions."

"Wait, let me get guess." Ethan held up a hand, "You helped build them."

"I'm afraid so," he confirmed. "But right now we, I mean you, have to tame them," he said, missing the smirks Zoey and Jenna threw the teens.

"I'll B.B.L. if it's all the same to you," Ethan laughed, stepping back.

"What does that mean?" Tommy asked, looking at his sister.

"Be back later, I think." She translated, looking thoughtful, "Gamer term." They saw Ethan shake his head and start to turn away.

"Ethan, wait!" The boy turned around, waiting, "You can do this, but you don't have to do it alone. Ever since I found the Dino Gems, I've had these waiting, if I ever needed to harness their powers." He walked over to a case sitting on a table.

"He had them waiting." Zoey muttered, "Like he's the one who built them. Please." Jenna laughed, and the girls ignored the glare Tommy threw at them as they sat at the computer.

"Into what?" Kira asked.

Tommy opened the briefcase to show them the four morphers inside. Each was a different color with a different shaped dinosaur head on it. Andy sighed before looking back at the girls, shaking his head.

"You really should have figure this one out already, Lightning Bug." Jenna mocked, smiling.

"Dino morphers," Tommy said, calling the attention back to him, "Use these to become Power Rangers."

"I gotta sit down," Ethan started to fall but Conner and Andy caught him by the arms.

"Breathe, dude." Conner said, trying to keep him from hyperventilating.

"We can't be Power Rangers!" Kira spoke up, "Aren't you supposed to be able to fly, or have superhuman strength, stuff like that?"

"Not always," Zoey spoke up, "but it helps."

"And you do," Tommy said, looking at his student.

"Oh yeah. I forgot," She sighed, looking around at the others.

"Your gems are from the asteroid that crashed into the Earth millions of years ago, wiping out the entire dinosaur population," Tommy explained, continuing. "When I found them, I recognized their power and hide them, so they wouldn't fall into the wrong hands."

Conner looked up, "How do you know these are the right hands?"

"The Gems are yours." Jenna said, "You didn't choose them, they chose you. That's how the Power works. It's how it's always worked."

"Well, can't they unchoose us?" Kira asked hopefully.

"They've already bonded with your DNA," Tommy said, smiling softly. "That's what's given you your powers."

"You picked the gems up, but the gems chose you. They decided. Your DNA is now, and forever, genetically altered by them," Zoey walked over to look at them, "because of that."

"So if they already bonded with us, how come Mesogog and his creeps are still after them?" Ethan frowned, causing everyone to look at Tommy for the answer.

"The only way these powers can be taken away, is if you're destroyed."

"Ok, for future reference," Ethan said, eyes wide, "that's not a great selling point."

"You want them to lie to us?" Andy asked, looking calmer.

"Look, all I know is, I don't remember asking to be a superhero!" Conner shook his head.

"Does anyone ever ask?" Jenna asked curiously, walking over.

"The Gems wouldn't have bonded with you if you didn't have something inside that could handle the power," Tommy nudged to case toward them, "Please." They each reached out and grabbed the morpher that matched their gem.

"So now what?" Ethan asked, studying the new device. "Do we need some kind of secret password or command?"

"All you have to say is 'Dino Thunder, Power Up' and you'll be transformed. You'll know what to do." Tommy said, nodding.

"Dino Thunder?" Conner repeated, looking at Ethan. "What, did you come up with that?"

"I kinda like it," Ethan admitted.

"You would."

"It's a morphing call, guys." Zoey shook her head, "But some teams call them roll calls."

"Look, I know you four are from different worlds, I get it." Tommy interjected, "But you're gonna have to work together, or this can never happen. This won't be easy. Nobody knows that better than I do. You're gonna have believe in yourselves because we believe in you."

"Really?" Conner raised an eyebrow, looking at their teacher.

"Really."

As Zoey and Jenna stayed behind to monitor the situation, Tommy drove the four teens to the sight of the attack. When they got there, they could see the Bio Zords attacking the city. The Pterazord spiraled through the air, slamming into the buildings, left and right. The Tyrannozord, Tricerazord and Spinozord attacked everything else from the ground.

"Okay. This is it," Tommy said as they got up to stare at the Zords.

"That must be them!" Conner pointed, gesturing toward the giant machines.

"Wow, good call, Conner." Kira rolled her eyes as Andy tried to hide his laugh.

Zeltrax appeared in front of them, blocking their path. "You'll have to get past me, before you get those Zords."

"That's the part I'm looking forward to," Conner told him.

"You guys ready?" Ethan glanced to the other three.

"Oh yeah," Kira confirmed with a nod.

"Ready?"

"Ready!"

"DINO THUNDER, POWER UP, HA!" They called out, morphing into their new suits.

"Whoa!" Ethan grinned.

"This totally rocks!" Kira said excitedly.

"Love the change of color." Andy smiled in appreciation.

"So, you're Power Rangers." Zeltrax sneered, mocking them.

"Call on your weapons!" Tommy called out. "They're in your belt."

"You got it Doctor O!" Conner agreed as their belts began to glow. "Whoa, check it out!" He said, catching his weapon, "Nice! I got a Tyranno Staff!"

"I can come to grips with this! Ptera Grips!" Kira held up her dagger-like weapons.

"Sweet! A Tricera Shield!" Ethan cheered happily.

"Spino Axe!" Andy swung his new weapon in an arch, "Oh, this is gonna be fun."

"Enough!" Zeltrax summoned a group of Tyrannodrones, who then ran at the Rangers. Twirling his axe, Andy smirked as he rush in with the other three to meet the mutant lizards, head on.

His training and experience allowed Andy to take on the Tyrannodrones easily. Leaping into the air, he sliced down and caught the monsters in his way, spinning around and catching more as he landed. "Just like riding a bike." He Ninja streaked, hitting multiple lizards at once, and sent a bolt of lightning to dismantle them.

"Freeze!" Ethan yelled from nearby, taking on Zeltrax.

"You first!" The creature laughed, mocking him. He shot a beam of purple light around the Blue Ranger like a lasso, lifting him off the ground, and swinging him against a fence.

"Ethan!" They ran over to help him up, only for Zeltrax to fired smaller laser at them, sparking their suits and sending them to the ground.

"Rangers! Combine your weapons!" Tommy yelled, trying to get their attention.

"Right!" Conner nodded as they got back to their feet. After putting their weapons together, they aimed it at Mesogog's general.

"Z-Rex Blaster Ready! Fire!" They fired the blast out, hitting Zeltrax, and sent him flying to back to land on the ground.

"We did it!" Kira cheered, causing Tommy to smile.

"You showed me your weapons," Zeltrax growled, standing back up, "now meet mine!"

He disappeared as the Zords roared in anger, coming at them, being led by a large ship that was sending red energy blast to the ground.

"Ok, how do we fight that?" Conner asked, as they regrouped at the Jeep.

"You gotta tame the Zords. Concentrate. Your morphers will communicate your thoughts to them," he explained. They
