Meme was hardly aware of anything as he hit the ground with a thud. He couldn't tell if the plan was failing or succeeding. His head hurt like nothing else as he stood up. Luckily, he hadn't gone far. He could see Nadwe in bat form flying to the exit.

A quick check revealed that he had no apparent injuries. Only a bit of confusion, which was usual after something like that. The 'something' had been being thrown by  a gravity gun into a pillar.

Gathering his wits about him, Meme broke into a run. Socks and the others were coming behind him, he saw as he glanced to make sure. They had to distract L4FF, or at least do something. It was obvious that bat Nadwe had been spotted.

When they got closer, L4FF turned on them. a few attempted punches and kicks later, it was obvious that they were doing nothing. He was resistant to normal fighting, which left them in a bit of a predicament. Meme felt his anxiousness grow.

How was L4FF doing this? How was he evading everything, and managing to hurt them at the same time? It was so weird and so very frustrating. Meme felt like L4FF was just playing with them at this point. He was running circles around them!

Nadwe popped back into his human form minutes later, looking nervous but proud. The others immediately noticed him coming back, and Meme felt a flicker of relief that he'd done it, and they could escape. He was also extremely happy that Nadwe was okay.

"Come on guys! RUN!" Nadwe exclaimed. Not needing any further directions, they bolted from L4FF, everyone running the fastest they could to get to the exit and escape from this nightmare. When they got near the staircase, they paused. Nadwe hadn't moved.

"Nadwe, come on! We gotta go!" Meme shouted, feeling a slight feeling of dread deep in his gut. He silently prayed that Nadwe would come over and escape with them.

"Yeah, I know! I just gotta-" Nadwe was cut off by a sickening sound of something hitting flesh, and Meme was suddenly aware of a flaming sword, held by L4FF, impaling the fourteen year old.

"Look what you made me do." L4FF hissed.

"NADWE!" Meme cried, watching as L4FF retracted the sword, and Nadwe fell to the ground.

Time seemed to slow as the others gasped, tears threatening for every one of them. Meme numbly fell to his knees, remembering everything the fourteen year old had gone through.

                                His life had been ruined.

                                            He never got it back.

                                                            He was dead now.

                          He was just a kid.

Something flickered inside Meme as he thought that. Nadwe had just been a kid! His whole life had been ruined because of L4FF, and now he was never going to be able to get it back thanks to L4FF.

Something snapped, and Meme had the deep sense that he should just let what was going to happen, happen.

                       And so he did.

                                             "Meme!" Meme heard TBH gasp.

"YOU!" Meme growled, glaring at L4FF. L4FF stared back at him, the sword still in his hands. He seemed frozen. This would've been funny had Meme not been so pissed.

And with that, Meme basically flew over there, suddenly aware that his punches and slaps and kicks were doing something. His eyes felt weird as well. It was like something had awakened in him, and Meme was embracing it. He gathered up enough strength to do a huge blast right from his fingertips, and it knocked L4FF down.

And with that, Meme felt everything come back, and floated back down from where he was now aware that he'd been flying. He stumbled back, almost falling, but Socks and TBH catching him and steadying him.

"Your eyes were glowing BLUE, Meme! You took him down and won!" Blaza whispered, eyes wide with shock.

"Maybe...but at what cost." Meme choked out, remembering Nadwe, and being fully aware that even if he had defeated L4FF, it wouldn't bring him back.

There was a coughing sound coming from the direction of L4FF. Meme tensed as L4FF slowly got up, but he knew he'd pretty much be useless if they were attacked. He didn't know what had brought on his sudden powers, but he couldn't imagine being able to use that much energy again, even if he could figure out how to use the powers at will.

"You know, I didn't want to do this." L4FF deflated as he got a little closer to them. Meme could see the defeat in his eyes, and was surprised.

"What?" TBH breathed out harshly. Meme could understand why. He'd been framed by this man, and had everyone turn against him. No wonder he was angry and tense.

"I was ordered to go and investigate the earth and humans by the ruler of my people. At first, I was happy and excited. I had made friends with you guys and was hopeful for once about having friends who cared, and being able to be whatever I wanted on Earth. But when I sent my report back to my people, the response was clear." L4FF explained.

                                  "This is insane." Blaza muttered.

"I was supposed to kill you, Meme. This was going to drive Blaza and Socks apart, and then...everyone would go about the same. But I dreaded it. I knew it was the worst thing ever, and so badly wanted to protest against it, but I knew they'd take it out on my mum and my sister....and I couldn't do that to them. So I braced my feelings, and did it. And now I find...I can't complete it." L4FF confessed.

"Blaza...can you use your powers to make sure this is the truth?" Socks asked.

"Of course, Socksforone." Blaza nodded. He closed his eyes, and Meme sensed that it was working. When his eyes opened, Blaza seemed a bit dazed. "It's the truth." Blaza told them.

"If you didn't wanna do it...then why'd you kill Nadwe? Why kill Woolfster or Muffin. Why kill anyone? Couldn't you have just LIED?" Meme hissed.

"I couldn't lie...they would've found out, and done it themselves. Then they would've killed or tortured my family for my failure. Killing Woolfster and Muffin was...something I don't even know why I did. It was like something possessed me. With Nadwe...he was in the way, and I was panicking...and I'm so sorry for everything I've done. I understand that I don't deserve to be forgiven, or anything but pain..." L4FF broke down.

"You're right. You really don't deserve forgiveness for what you did." Meme told him, not harshly, but very matter of fact.

"I know, but...I do know something that might be able to fix this." L4FF admitted.

"What? Are you insane? What could possibly fix this?" Meme exploded.

"Meme, I've read up on people like you before. People that have your powers. YOU can fix this! You can bring them back to life!" L4FF explained hopefully.

"That can't be right...how? I'm a healer, not a miracle worker, and my powers only blasted and hurt you." Meme wondered aloud, not daring to hope or believe.

"Muffin is very excited about this possibility." Socks commented drily, glancing at what looked to Meme to be thin air. He then remembered Socks power to see the dead that were close to him.

"Do you see Nadwe?" Meme asked.

"Yeah." Socks said, looking almost apologetic as he said it.

This somehow gave Meme some hope. Maybe they could all be saved. Maybe L4FF was right.

"Okay, L4FF. What do I have to do." Meme demanded to know as he whirled around.

"First...call me Laff again. But what you have to do isn't that complicated. You gotta put your hands on the body of the person you wanna bring back, and focus on them and giving them life. You'll feel some energy draining, and then if you wanted or believed in it enough, they'll be back, and healed from their injury." L4FF/Laff explained.

"What else do you know about my powers?" Meme questioned, noting all of what Laff had said. Laff thought for a moment before smiling a bit.

"I know that your powers are emotion based, and mostly for healing. Hence why you have a natural talent for helping people and creating things to heal them. If provoked though, you can use them to harm people or defend yourself or someone you love...as you demonstrated on me." Laff added with a shaky grin. "I still have the book at my house. I'll give it to you when everything's fixed and we're out of here." Laff told him.

"Okay...sounds good." Meme said distractedly. He caught sight of Nadwes dead body again, and felt a almost inescapable hysteria take over him, and his only thought was that he had to bring him back. If there was a chance, he had to try.

Running over, Meme knelt by the body and put his hands on Nadwes chest near where the fatal wound was. He closed his eyes, not caring about how much energy he would lose from this, or what the others were thinking. His only thought was of bringing Nadwe back.

'This has to work. He has to come back, please. Nadwe...' Meme thought desperately.

There was suddenly a small sensation, and Meme almost jumped up with joy. It was working. The energy was draining, and it was bringing Nadwe back. He stopped himself though, because he had a slight feeling that if he broke contact or concentration right now, it wouldn't work. So he forced himself to continue until the sensation stopped.

Meme hardly dared to open his eyes, but he needed to know. So he did, backing away a bit as he did. To his excitement and relief, Nadwes eyes flickered open.

"What happened..." Nadwe wondered aloud, seeming a small bit dazed.

"You little bitch!" Meme exclaimed, hugging Nadwe tightly. "You had me so worried that I wasn't going to be able to bring you back!" Meme breathed, not letting go until Nadwe released himself from the hug.

"Thank you so much, Meme. I can't believe that you did it!" Nadwe grinned.

"Of course I did. And now we're getting out of here, and I'm bringing everyone else back." Meme decided then and there. Nadwes eyes lit up at the declaration.

"What about the others who went missing? Joocie, Oof, Oompa...and Dino never made it to the court case." Socks asked.

"Easy." Laff told him. Laff snapped his fingers, and the others appeared. They were all okay, which made Meme happy to see. Nadwe hugged Joocie.

"Laff, I can't believe you did that!" Joocie exclaimed, seeming angry, but not as angry as Meme would've expected. Then again, Joocie was always pretty chill, even when he was furious. Meme guessed that this was the angriest he could get.

                                                                           "I'm so sorry." Laff apologized.

After some back and forth, the group finally got themselves together, and got up the staircase. Dusting themselves off, they all looked around at the courtroom. Two bodies in the middle of it. It was a horrible scene.

Meme started with Muffin, and it paid off when Nadwe and him instantly hugged and started chatting.

Then he went to Woolfster. This one took a bit longer, but it worked, and Meme was amused to see DINO of all people be the one to greet Woolf and be super excited about him being back.

Then the one that caused Meme to be a bit anxious. Wiktoria had been dead for a bit now, and he was a bit worried it wouldn't work. Laff got her casket out of the ground after a bit of digging, and opened it.

She looked just like she'd looked the day of their wedding.

Taking in a deep breath, Meme repeated the process that he'd done three times now, but with a deeper desperation, that was rivaled only by the desperation he'd felt to bring Nadwe back.

After a while, he stood back. Meme felt almost ready to pass out. He'd used so much energy today. For a good cause of course, and he didn't regret it at all, but it kinda made him feel like this was even more hopeless.

                                                But then her eyes opened.

Meme watched in wonder as his wife climbed out of the casket, and gazed at them all with wonder. He understood. It must be weird to be dead for so long, and then suddenly be back.

And then she ran over and hugged him, burying her fact in his shoulder as he held her. The two of them obviously helpless for one another.

"You did it. I knew you would." She whispered.

"I'm just so glad that I have you back, and that everyone is okay again." Meme confessed, feeling the slight need to cry.  Wiktoria grinned, and pulled back, hands on his shoulders.

"I love you." She said simply.

"I love you too." He replied.

It was then that Meme realized that things were...okay again. Everyone was back and okay. Nadwe had the chance to get his life back, with a father and a MOTHER  this time. Socks and TBH wouldn't ever be framed again, and with time...maybe Laff could be forgiven.

They could live their lives again.

Whatever happened next, whatever challenges they faced, they would get through them together. As a group.

                                As a family.

                   And that would never change.
