Some time after you and Dante left, the dead body began to speak.

"Where am I? It's dark I can't see anything..."

"You're still alive I see..." Lady commented, pointing her gun at the supposedly blind body.

"Mary..? Is that you..? What's happening?" Her father asked, using her birth name. "Where's your mother?" He asked, pinching a nerve for the lady hunter.

"My mother?! You killed her, remember?!"

"Yes... that's right.. I killed her with my own hands.. what horrible thing I have done? I was too weak... I succumbed to his influence..." Arkham claimed, blaming everything he did on the man he had just met a day or so prior.

"You mean you were possessed?" Lady asked, feeling pity on her father as he struggled. She tried to help him now, seemingly forgiving all he did.

"Yes I was manipulated.." he proclaimed, "....by a devil named Vergil....." he wasn't completely telling the truth but he wasn't completely lying either, but Lady did not know how far the lie went.

"He's attempting to bring the demon world back to this modern day. A world Sparda sealed off."

"Sparda? I thought he was a myth!" Mary claimed, she knew the legend as her father told her it when she was little, but she never believed it.

"If the demons return, this world will be thrown into chaos" he warned his daughter, before giving his final wish and comment. "Stop him... stop Vergil! You are such a sweet child... just like your mother...."

And with that he passed in his crying daughter's arms. She laid him to rest and then walked away, ready to kill.

{~Dante & (Y/n)~}

Invisible demons. As if things couldn't get any worse.

Dante and you tried to fight as best you could but the teleporting demons weren't easy on you two.

Eventually you managed to kill the monsters though and carried on with your fetch quest. Dante looked up at the catwalk above you in this new room with bloody statues and nodded to you. He hoisted you up there and handed you the Rebellion.

"Babe, hit the blocks into the holes in the wall." He instructed, and you get to work.

He stood around, waiting. Suddenly the wall dropped and you jumped over the railing, handing him the sword. As you went to leave however, more demons appeared.

It was one of the scythe carrying ones Dante had fought at the beginning. He began to shoot at it and slice it while you handled the other demon. Within minutes you were free to leave and did so.

You came across a train and stepped on, riding it to its destination and making quick work of the demons. Once at the end, you came to an area filled with fire, Dante looked toward you who's hair was seeming to... poof...?

It gave him a little chuckle, until he himself started to sweat.

Leather and lava don't mix.

With that being said, you walked toward the door which was big and empty. There was a glowing thing on the other side.

Boss fight time.

Also more lava.

"So do you get a Devil's Trigger too when you get stabbed, Babe?" Dante asked before grabbing the item, you seemed to think about it then nodded.

That was good but painful. As he walked toward it though, a loud roar cried out.

"Sparda!" It cried as a giant beast dropped from the ceiling, almost dropping a rock on Dante, which he punched to dust. The beast erected wings...

"Aw you poor thing. Didn't your mother ever teach you how to use a door?" Said the man who has kicked a door open three times since this all started.

"That odor, I know it!" The beast claimed, it was almost like he was blind.

Dante smelled himself again, thinking the blood from earlier washed off from the waterfall.

"Gimme a break. Tell ya what, next time I'll try and wear some cologne, okay?"

"It's the stench of betrayal, the odor of that accursed Sparda! I will annihilate every last blood relation of Sparda!"

Dante looked away from the beast and towards you, noticing you had not said anything yet about the Sparda thing though you very well knew.

You were a demon after all.... he jumped back just in time from the demon trying to swing at him.

"A son cleaning up his dad's mess huh?" He commented, "Where've I heard this story before?"

Little did he know, this would become his life. Dante began to attack the beast, wondering if because it was in a fire area that ice would hurt it.

He decided to try it out and it had good results as he noticed the monster get more angry with his attacks. In doing this though, he had to be careful not to hit his friend.

He moved away from the demon, who tried to run and shoot at him. He then dodged the beasts kicks and punches, just barely though.

The beast also called upon cages from above to kick at him, which he also had to watch out for. In the middle of the chaotic battle though, he threw his sword and took the blow, managing to cut the beasts other eye.

"The odious one whose heart pumps the blood of a Sparda! Though my sight is gone, I remember your scent! I shall hunt you down through eternity if I must, until I rid this earth of your foul smell!" The beast erected its wings once again and exited through the same roof he came.

Dante got out of the hole he was punched into and watched the demon go.

You walked up next to him, he looked at you confused as to why you didn't help much but then again it was so chaotic he probably didn't notice if you did.

"Why do I have to take the heat for my father?" He vented, looking down.

You just wipe off the rubble of his white hair with an apologetic crook smile.

"Come on man, cut me some slack!" With that being said, you and Dante looked toward the still glowing item and made their way closer.

Besides hiring an Italian bum as a manager, Dante didn't make bad decisions... okay he didn't make a lot of bad decisions... okay, we don't talk of the broom thing.

Anyways the moment Dante picked up the orb, he knew it was a bad decision.

It made him feel weak, and he couldn't help but fall to his knees.

You gasp and ran to his side, knowing something was wrong, trying to help him up and went to grab the orb yourself, which he stopped you from doing.

"Don't...you will...slip away." Dante found it hard to move or do much of anything, but he couldn't risk something happening to you.

It could be worse.

To add salt to the injury, the Jesters laugh began to ring in their ears.

You looked around to find him behind them, you jumped a little and as defense covered Dante with yourself.

"This is amazing!" The clown let out, "even the devil boy is no match for it!"

The clown came closer, and in annoyance Dante pushed out your grasp and grabbed the clown, putting a gun to his nose.

"You're not going to shoot me are you? If you do, I'll die you know." Jester was in shock.

Dante seriously hated how he treated him like an idiot, and honestly, he might shoot him just cause he's annoying. There's a growing list of why Dante hates this guy.

"If that's what it will take to shut you up... it bugs the crap out of me when someone talks more than I do..." Dante growls in a low tone, which would probably be good for ASMR.

"Don't act so rashly, my boy. I've got a doozy of a story for you, but if you snuff out my voice like that, I won't be able to tell it, now, will I?"

Dante just threw the clown, growing more weak with the passing seconds.

Everything felt hot and he also felt light headed.. maybe it was the heat of the lava room finally getting to him, no... it was defiantly the orb.

"I thought I was a goner for sure. You saw it too, didn't you? That huge tower jutting out of the ground?" The jester began to fan himself, thanking his good fortune.

Unlike the monster that just passed, Dante could see.

"That thick shaft that causes women to shudder."

You just tilted your head and Dante took this moment to grab you and pull you into him. He may be a douche at times but he respects you as his equal.

"It's actually a tunnel, linking the demonic Dorman to the human world. And of course, your brother, Vergil is the one who controls it with your mommy's amulet. And let's not forget the devil girl's voice as well!"

Dante rolled his eyes, really not feeling up to an exposition episode - wait a minute...

"Amulet...?" He asked.

"He's heading to the control room in the basement~" the clown cooed in a sing songy voice. "If you don't hop down there quick like a bunny, he'll open the gate to hell!" He suddenly screamed.

Dante felt like he was either dying or had the flu. It felt awful and this clown was not helping.

"Isn't that a scary thought?" Jester asks.

"And you're telling me this because..?" Dante just wanted him to get to the chase, he really needed to do something about the whole dying thing.

"Oops, I forgot to mention one teeny wittle item. That gizmo there is actually the KEY to move forward. But the tricky thing is, it sucks he souls of those who hold it. So I think you better hurry!"

Well that made sense, no wonder he felt like death.

Then the clown left in a big laugh. "But in return for your soul, it'll give you power! Marvelous isn't it? Just let your young spirit drive you and go for it!"

Okay now he was gone. You helped Dante up by wrapping his arm around your shoulder as he commented, "Wish you would've told me that in the first place, ya big mouthed moron!"

Suddenly, Dante went into his devil trigger, which you cover your eyes with your hand. He looked at you for a second but had no time to loose, Jester had taken up so much time that he would die soon if he didn't hurry.

He began to pick you up and sprint toward the door, and surprisingly it didn't take you long to notice you blink in surprised.

You got back on the train and had no choice but to wait, but you killed the wait by murdering all the demons that came at them, some even dropped some energy that he could absorb to hopefully live longer.

They really were on a time crunch though, you couldn't fight demons all day. Finally the ride ended and he speeded off out the door, but the next door was locked.

You had no choice but to fight more. This was starting to stress Dante a little, considered his LIFE was at STAKE!

He took a running start toward the demons and slashed straight into them, throwing them back. This didn't kill them but it did hurt them.

You jumped and slashed one right in the head. He slashed the other one and you both ran out the door. After leaving that room you just ran, you didn't even know where you were  both going.

While running you noticed that the dead body was gone, but there was no time to mention it right now.

You'd have to warn something later - Dante pushed you out of the way of a demons swing, just barely getting missed himself.

He blocked the demons scythe and stabbed it, killing it.

The run continued.

Dante bended over, feeling his body hurt horribly. It was either burning or collapsing, maybe exploding. That's what it felt like to him.

The orb suddenly shot out of his chest and into the hole on the other side of the bridge. The bridges moved once again, in what seemed to be the original way Dante found it.

He sat down for a second to breathe, just needing to relax from that stress. You sat next to him and rubbed his back a little before wiping the sweat beads from his forehead, which gave him a chuckle.

He sighed and stood. "We don't have time to waste. Maybe another time we can relax."

He took your hand and you walked toward the newly opened door. You looked back, pointing at the way you  both came.

"We don't need to go back there?" He raised a brow, to which you shook your head and pulled at his arm.

He sighed and let you lead him back, seeing the missing corpse.

"Weird... well it's not our business, leave it be. Maybe Lady went and buried it outside or something."

You looked a little concerned, then sighed and nodded in agreement.

That would be logical, who would want to leave their relative's body in this tower when it goes back to hell. With that, you went to the door.

Everything was empty for awhile, no demons or anything.

You reached a big bridge, which had demons on it. Dante told you to stand to the side, as he was about to reenact a western showdown. Suddenly blue flames lit up, which caused Dante to look at you. You just shrugged. Blue signs were a sign of Satan in some stories but...

Why would Satan be here-

HORSE!

"Talk about horse power.." Dante commented as you just looked at the blue fire horse, questioning if you should move.

Suddenly it stopped in front of them, "A chicken race with a horse, huh? Fair enough.."

You walked towards the horse, which seemed to kneel its head down to let you pet it. This both confused and didn't confuse Dante.

Suddenly the horse rose up and you jumped back. Dante jumped up, grabbed you, and dodged as the horse ran toward you two. It seemed to keep teleporting back to the end of the bridge to run at them again. Dante put you on his back and kept shooting at the horse whilst dodging.

The bridge shook and collapsed due to the weight of the horse. Dante managed to stick the landing, barely, while carrying you. The horse did too. He let you down and looked around the coliseum  you were dropped into.

"First chicken, now gladiator. This just keeps getting better and better..." he looked at you and chuckled, bowing and taking your hand, "Won't you go and enjoy the show~?"

You seemed to think about it, crossing your arms. For a second he thought you wouldn't but you turned away from him and jumped up into the stands, leaning over the railing to watch.

You decided to humor him, this time.

The battle began, Dante ran from the horses auto firing arrows, while firing at the horse himself. The horse took a second to breathe and he took his chance to attack it. Then, the horse began to teleport, but it would still need to rest soon after all the power usage.

When it did, Dante attacked again. He decided to switch out for the Cerberus again because ice and fire don't mix.

The horse was running around again, so he had to wait for his chance. He took a defensive until the horse stopped moving again. At one point though, Dante found himself in a ball that seemed to stop time. It was at this point he got slammed into the ground, being run over by the horse.

You stood up in the stands and quickly reached your hand out to the beast. This made it stop moving long enough for Dante to run over and get good hits. Due to this team effort at the end, it's hard to say who got the final blow on the flaming horse.

The horse panted as you jumped down and rubbed its head softly. It suddenly rose and fell dead, and orb floating in the air where it stood. You seemed a little sad, but looked back as the orb floated toward Dante, making him glow. You sighed and walked with your head low, him following as you went to exit.

Time seemed to freeze, Dante looked up as there was a rock mere centimeters above his head.

He looked toward you and grabbed your waist, pulling you against him. You seemed to be in slow motion too until he did this.

You looked up with great confusion and saw the boulders that nearly crushed you. Dante chuckled and just poked it, making it float higher above his head.

It was like a bubble.

He began to move them out of the debris fall and as soon as you were in the clear, it all came crashing down.

You looked back in surprise, then looked at him. He shrugged.

You pulled out of his grasp and rubbed the back of your head before walking ahead of him, leaving him to smirk and follow in your trail.
