*The Next Morning*

I was enjoying my slumber when suddenly, Katarina's voice rang out in our dorm room.

Katarina: Wakey Wakey, it's time for school!

The rest Alice and I wake up, still groggy from just getting up while Shino groans.

Shino: Must you be so loud this early in the morning?

(Y/N): You're as bad as Nora.

Katarina: Aww, come on, it's our first day! You guys should be excited!

The rest of us look at her unamused

Alice: In any case, we should start to get ready. We can unpack later. For now, let's get changed.

The three girls then look at me.

Shino: First, we need to set some ground rules...

I sighed, understanding where the conversation was heading.

(Y/N): Alright... Let me get changed in the bathroom. Just call out to me when you're done changing. I'll be sure to knock before entering the dorm as well. I don't want to end up in one of those cliche harem anime scenes where the character accidentally walks in on the girls changing, only to get slapped and called a pervert.

Shino then looked at me and smiled while Katarina and Alice chuckled.

Shino: Good boy.

I rolled my eyes and proceeded to the bathroom. After getting changed and getting the all-clear from the rest of my team, I exited and rejoined the group.

(Y/N): Alright, now that's out of the way, what's our first class?

Alice: Well, according to the schedule, we have Grimm Studios with Professor Port.

The rest of us looked at our schedules to see what classes were in store for us today.

Shino: Says here that it's one of those hybrid classes that the three courses share.

(Y/N): Well, this will be interesting!

Alice: I guess this is an excellent chance to get to know some of our peers in the other courses

Katarina: Yay! New Friends!

Alice: In any case, we should probably get some breakfast before class. We have to keep our energy up after all.

After breakfast, we headed to Port's classroom. On the way there, many students were glaring at me and giving me dirty looks. Alice took notice while I was looking down.

Alice: Are you okay, (Y/N).

I looked back up at her, giving her a fake smile.

(Y/N): I'm fine... I've been subject to this kind of treatment before, so I'm used to it...

The three girls looked up to me with reassuring smiles.

Shino: We're here for you if you ever need to talk.

Katarina: She's right! We're all teammates now, meaning we have to look out for each other!

I gave them a small smile in return.

(Y/N): Thanks, guys...

We arrived at Ports class. It was pretty empty as we arrived a little earlier than most students. The girls and I were welcomed by a short, stocky man with a large grey mustache.

Port: Ho-ho! You four must be team A(Y)KS. Welcome to Grimm Studies 101.

Alice: Thank you, we look forward to being your students.

Port: And I as your teacher! Now you can head up and take your seats!

We took our seats as other teams started taking their seats. While my group was chatting to another team next to them, a female voice spoke to me.

???: Hey, you mind if we sit next to you?

I looked up to the girl who was talking to me. She had short pink hair that was very messy. Her skin was pink, and her eyes were black with yellow iris' resulting from what I assume was her quirk.

Mina Ashido

(Y/N): Not at all

The pink girl just smiled at me while the rest of her team accompanied her. Of which consisted of a girl who had short dark purple hair and earphone jacks connected to her earlobes.

Kyouka Jirou

Alongside them was a boy with spiked red hair and sharp teeth.

Ejiro Kirishima

Lastly a pissed-off blonde boy who looked like a Pomeranian.

Katsuki Bakugo

Pinky: I'm Mina Ashido. These are my teammates, Kyouka Jirou, Ejiro Kirishima, and Katsuki Bakugo.

(Y/N): I'm (Y/N) (L/N)

Bakugo started to get pissed off even more while the rest of the group looked a little shocked.

Jirou: Y-you's the kid who has no powers, right?

I sighed and looked at them, a little uneasy.

(Y/N): Yes, I am...

However, something unexpected happened after that.

Kirishima: Damn! You must be skilled if you were able to get in! That's manly!

Mina: Yeah! You must've kicked butt out there! That's awesome!

Jirou nods in agreement.

Jirou: It is rather impressive.

(Y/N): It wasn't anything special... I'm not as strong as some of the other people here.

Bakugo: Damn right you aren't! It's bad enough they let that idiot Deku in, but now they're allowing powerless losers like you? So pathetic! Union's standards must have gone down!

Kirishima: Hey... don't be like that, man!

Mina: Yeah! Don't be mean to him!

Bakugo: I WASN'T TALKING TO YOU, RACCOON EYES!!!

Mina: I have a name, you know!

Alice notices the commotion and gives Bakugo a death glare, slightly unsettling him.

Alice: Leave him alone. Otherwise, I'll have to kick your ass myself.

Bakugo: Tch, can't even fight his own battles? Coward!

Alice just intensified her glare which continued to unnerve Bakugo.

Bakugo: Whatever, just don't get in my way, you damn loser!

Bakugo looks away, grumbling while I turn to Mina, Jirou, and Kirishima.

(Y/N): Is he always like this?

Jirou: More or less...

Kirishima: It takes a while to get used to...

Mina: It's best not to pay him any attention.

A few minutes later, Team RWBY and Team JNPR arrived, barely making it on time. Alice gave Pyrrha a smug grin as the group sat down at the row below us.

Alice: Well, well, the great Pyrrha Nikos is late on the very first day! Not sure great now, are we!

Pyrrha looks a little downtrodden while Alice sits there smugly. I step in for Pyrrha by bringing my hand down on Alice's head in a chopping motion.

(Y/N): (Y/N)-Chop!

Alice winces in pain and looks at me with confused eyes.

Alice:  Oww! Hey! What was that for?

(Y/N): Be nice!

Alice was about to protest until she saw me glaring at her.

Alice: Fine...

My glare turns into a smile while she blushes. Then, as the time changed to 9:00, Professor Port began his lecture.

Port: Monsters! Demons... Prowlers of the night! Yes, the creatures of Grimm have many names, but I merely refer to them as prey! Ha-ha!

Nobody said anything at Port's joke, creating an awkward silence. Finally, after hearing the failed joke, Ruby jolts awake from her power nap.

Port: Uhhhh... And you shall too, upon graduating from this prestigious academy! Now, as I was saying: Vale and the other kingdoms and countries are safe havens in an otherwise treacherous world! Our planet is absolutely teeming with creatures that would love nothing more than to tear you to pieces! And that's where we come in. Huntsmen! Huntresses,

Port winks at Yang, who groans uncomfortably from the gesture.

Port: And other Individuals who have sworn to protect those who cannot protect themselves! From what, you ask? Why, the very world!

A random student stands up with his arm in the air.

Random Student: Ayyy-yep!

The rest of us just stared at him strangely before sitting down, embarrassed.

Port: That is what you are training to become. But first: A story. A tale of a young, handsome man... Me! When I was a boy...

Most of the class looked bored out of their minds. I was sitting with my chin on my hand while Katarina was sleeping. On the other hand, Shino looked annoyed, and Alice was tuning everything out. Ruby starts to doodle on her paper while Weiss gets annoyed.

Port: ...Despite smelling of cabbages, my grandfather was a wise man. 'Peter', he told me...

Ruby shows her off a circle with limbs drawing of Port with stink lines and a label that says "Professor Poop." Ruby blows a quick raspberry which makes Blake, Yang, and I laugh while Weiss continues to get annoyed.

Port: Ah-heh-hem! In the end, the Beowolf was no match for my sheer tenacity, and I returned to my village with the beast in captivity, and my head held high, celebrated as a hero!

Weiss gets more frustrated as Ruby balances an apple on a book with her pencil held only by her finger and makes a silly face.

Port: A true Huntsman must be dependable!

Ruby falls asleep again.

Port: A true Huntsman must be strategic, well-educated, and wise!

Ruby is scratching her nose while Weiss' anger continues to grow.

Port: So, who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?

Weiss raises her hand, still angry at Ruby.

Weiss: I do, sir!

Port: Well then, let's find out!

Port gestures over to a cage containing a Boarbatusk that violently rattles its enclosure.

Port: Step forward and face your opponent!

Weiss comes out in her combat outfit a few moments later and readies her weapon.

Yang: Gooooo Weiss!

Blake raises a flag that has RWBY laminated in it.

Blake: Fight Well!

(Y/N): It's only been one day... how did she even get that?

Looking back towards Weiss, I call out to her.

(Y/N): You can do it, Weiss!

Weiss smiles until Ruby calls out to her.

Ruby: Yeah, Represent Teaaaam RWBY!

Weiss lowers her sword and flares towards Ruby.

Weiss: Ruby! I'm trying to focus!

Ruby looks dejected while Mina turns to me.

Mina: Geez, what's her problem?

I sigh as I look towards Weiss.

(Y/N): She's always been like this. She can get riled up very quickly.

Mina: You know her?

I just nod at Mina.

Port: Alright! Let the match begin!

Port swings down his weapon to unlock the cage. The Boarbatusk inside immediately charges towards Weiss, who deflects the attack and dodges. The boar Grimm stands there, studying her.

Port: Ha-ha! I wasn't expecting that, were you?

Ruby: Hang in there, Weiss!

Weiss charges at the Grimm, who does the same. She attempts to pierce its skull but fails as her rapier gets trapped between its tusks. Weiss struggles to free her weapon while barely holding onto it.

Port: Bold, new approach. I like it!

Ruby: Come on, Weiss, show it who's boss!

Weiss glares at Ruby. The Boarbatusk jerks its head away, which sends Myrtlenaster away, while Weiss is knocked back by the boar's tusks.

Port: Oh-ho! Now, what will you do without your weapon?

The Boarbatusk charges towards Weiss, who dodges the attack. Weiss runs back over to her weapon and picks it up.

Ruby: Weiss! Go for its belly! There's no armor underneath-

Weiss: Stop telling me what to do!

Jirou turned towards Mina and me while whispering.

Jirou: That was uncalled for... she was only trying to help

The both of us nod in agreement. Ruby looks upset at Weiss arguing with her. The Boarbatusk leaps into the air while spinning rapidly while charging at Weiss, who uses her semblance to create glyphs that stop the assault. She then propels herself toward, finally killing the beast.

Port: Bravo! Bra-vo! It appears we are indeed in the presence of a true Huntress-in-training! I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings, and... stay vigilant! Class dismissed!

Weiss glares at Ruby and walks off swiftly, still annoyed.

Jaune: Sheesh, what's with her?

The rest of the class just looked confused about why she was riled up. Finally, after leaving the classroom, Ruby and I caught up to Weiss, who was still angry.

Ruby: Weiss!

Weiss: What?

Ruby: What's wrong with you? Why are you being-?

Weiss: What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? You're supposed to be a leader, and all you've been so far is a nuisance!

Ruby: What did I do?

Weiss: That's just it - you've done nothing to earn your position! Back in the forest, you acted like a child, and you've only continued to do so!

Ruby: Weiss, where is this coming from? What happened to all the talk about 'working together'? I thought you believed in acting as a team.

Weiss: Not a team led by you. I've studied and trained. And quite frankly, I deserve better. Ozpin made a mistake.

Weiss storms off while Ruby looks dejected. I pat Ruby's shoulder to comfort her while Ozpin appears behind us while drinking his coffee.

Ozpin: Hmm... Now that didn't seem to go very well.

Ruby looks like she's about to cry while I reassure her.

Ruby: Is she right? Did you make a mistake?

Ozpin: That remains to be seen, though I believe Mr. (L/N) can help you understand.

Ozpin walks away while Ruby looks at me, still sad.

Ruby: (Y/N), what do you think?

(Y/N): Ruby, it's only been one day. Being a leader isn't just about strategizing. It's about encouraging others and bringing them together. Ozpin sees your potential, and I do as well. You'll get the hang of it eventually. Just give it time.

I smile at her, and she looks up, smiling back and blushing.

Ruby: Thanks, (Y/N).

(Y/N): No problem... you should get going. I'll talk to Weiss to try to calm her down.

Ruby nods and speeds off while I follow Weiss to the rooftop, who finished talking with Professor Port. After Port leaves, I approach Weiss.

Weiss: Ugh... for the last time, Jaune, I'm not interested!

(Y/N): Actually, it's me.

Weiss looks a little startled but recomposes herself.

Weiss: What do you want?

(Y/N): Yeeesh, someone's in a foul mood.

Weiss: It's been a long day.

(Y/N): Wanna talk about it, Snow Princess?

Weiss hesitates for a moment before speaking up.

Weiss: I should've been the leader of Team RWBY.

(Y/N): To be honest with you, I beg to differ.

Weiss: What! How could you say that?!

Weiss glares at me while crossing her arms.

(Y/N): Listen, Weiss, I've known you for a while now. You can be very stubborn, and you get irritated very easily. Being a leader is more than just strategizing on the battlefield or who has the most experience.

Weiss: What do you mean?

(Y/N): Ruby is the type of person who can bring people together and inspire them. She was only trying to support and help you, but you kept bickering with her. You're acting like a spoiled child who complains when they don't get what they want. Whether or not Ozpin made the right decision doesn't matter. What's done is done. All you can do now is help support her as your team's leader and guide her onto the right path. Be the best teammate you can be, Weiss.

Weiss: You're right... I suppose I should help support her instead of arguing with her.

(Y/N): One more thing...

Weiss: Hmm?

(Y/N): You don't need to be afraid to show people who you are. You may act like a cold and blunt person on the exterior, but you're a sweet and caring person inside. Don't be afraid to show them the real you.

Weiss faintly smiles and blushes.

Weiss: Thank you, (Y/N).

(Y/N): Don't mention it! Come on, let's get going.

Weiss nods as we walk off back to the dorms after the eventful first day.

*A Few Weeks Later*

Over the past few weeks, I became close friends with Mina, Jirou, Kirishima. We also met Izuku's team, which consisted of two girls named Ochaco Uraraka and Tsuyu Asui. Their third teammate was Tenya Iida, who was rather strict but overall a cool guy.

Bakugo still doesn't like me that much. He wasn't the only one, though. The majority of the school hates me because I'm powerless. Most of them just glare at me in the halls or class. A select few picks fight with me often, such as Team Karen and Team NDGO.

Currently, we are in our combat class, which was run by Professor Goodwitch and two other teachers named Shota Aizawa, the underground hero known as Eraserhead.
