"Skep?"
"What do you want, idot?" Zak turned absently to face Darryl, crossing his arms over his chest and giving him an annoyed look.
"I was just..." Shying away at his hostile glare, Darryl cleared his throat and looked away. "It doesn't matter."
Zak softened straight away, taking a step closer and smiling at him. "You're too easy to wind up. What did you want, muffin?"
"It wasn't that important, don't worry," He mumbled, blushing red.
"Don't be stupid, I want to know." Pushing their hips close together and tugging Darryl's chin down, Zak gave him a wink. "If you won't tell me, I'll force it out of you."
"Oh, really?" Darryl murmured, slipping his arms around his waist, "And how were you planning to do that?"
"Well, I could seduce you..." He slid his arms underneath Darryl's shirt, tilting his head upwards and shifting closer - then stopped dead. "Or... I could torture you until you cave," he giggled. Grinning and pressing their chests together, he started to tickle him.
"Hey! Stop - SOTP, you muffin!" Darryl squeaked, squirming in his arms and trying to pull away. Zak ignored him, kissing his neck at the same time. "Leave me alone!" Grabbing his hands and pinning them above his head, Darryl pushed him up against the wall. "My turn."
Eyes wide but eager still, Zak murmured, "How come you get to keep me captive?"
"Because I want to, now be quiet," he replied. Pushing Zak's head back against the brick surface, he leaned down and brought their lips together. "You're infuriating, you know that?"
Smiling and responding eagerly, Zak tried to pull his hands free to hold Darryl's body, but he wouldn't let him. "Please...?"
"Fine." Gently letting go of his arms, Darryl continued to kiss him as he kept him trapped against the wall, but he felt Zak pulling away.
"That's not what I meant, idot," he murmured, "what did you want before?"
"Well... I thought we could take Megs into town, they're starting to put up the Christmas lights, and it's all pretty. But it doesn't matter," he blushed, avoiding eye contact.
"You're cute when you're all bashful, you know that?"
"Wow, a reference to the TOTALLY AMAZING AND COMPLETELY RELEVANT SINGLE WORD TITLE-" Stopping abruptly, Darryl gave him a shocked look.
"What the hell was that, muffin?" Winking as he flushed a deeper shade of red, Zak headed downstairs to look for Mega. "Megs? You there?"
He checked every room, but no Mega in sight. Just as he was about to give up, he felt a soft tugging on his jeans and smiled. "Have you been hiding from me?"
Nodding and holding his arms up, Mega gave him a sheepish smile. He lifted him up and into his arms, spinning in a circle so his little legs flew outwards, then set him down again. "You'll be the death of me, you know that?" Zak grinned, ruffling his hair.
Catching sight of the two of them as he came into the living room, Darryl laughed. "I see you found the mini muffin, then."
He hummed in agreement, giving him a quick kiss and grabbing their coats. "Were going out, Megs, you want to come with us?"
"Yeah!"
Frozen in place, they both turned to stare at Mega, who had turned white as a sheet. Tilting his head curiously to one side, Darryl replied, "Let's go out, then. You probably need new clothes, anyways."
The car ride to town was quiet, Darryl lost in thought and Zak sitting in the back to keep Mega in his seat. As they parked and got out, Zak pulled Darryl close and whispered in his ear, "You think we can get him to... talk?"
"Don't push it. He'll talk to us if he wants to, okay?"
"Okay..." As he was watching him, Mega ran towards a ship window and pressed his face to the glass, his face lighting up. "You see something you like, Megs?"
Not bothering to turn around, Mega nodded. He pointed to a blue striped jumper and green scarf, eyes wide and beseeching.
"That's nice, muffin. Let's go inside, we can get you a bunch of clothes," Darryl called to him. Stepping through the glass doors, he started pulling random tops and bottoms out of the kid's section and tossed them all into a basket - but whenever he turned his back to them, they were swapped out for others. "Do you not like my style, idot?" He teased, turning with his hands on his hips.
Mega just giggled quietly, shaking his head as his brown curls bounced around his ears. He picked up another load, shoving them into the basket, and Zak laughed at him. "Are you going to pick anything that's not blue or green?"
Pouting slightly, Mega crossed his arms across his chest, and he laughed harder. "Who knew you were a fashion diva..."
Darryl left them to it, going in search of a proper car seat, and they met back at the car, Zak carrying three bulging bags. "At least he won't have to wear the same things over and over," he reasoned, looking at Darryl's grumpy expression. He didn't reply, tossing everything in the boot with a scowl.
"Lighten up, goof." Zak went to give him a hug, but Mega beat him to it.
He glanced up shyly, mumbling, "Thank you, daddy."
Exhaling sharply, Darryl met Zak's gaze. "Um... that's a new one," he stuttered, blushing bright scarlet again. "Is that what we are to him?"
Eyes mischievous, he just gave him a wink. "I don't mind. It suits you... daddy."
"Shut it, muffin." Taking his hand, Darryl giggled quietly and pushed him against the bonnet - then remembered Mega. Glancing around, his eyes locked onto his retreating figure as he darted into another shop. "Zak... we're not very good gay dads."
"Ouch," Zak retorted, his eyes warm, "I thought we were having a moment."
"We are, you goof. But we've also lost the child."
Looking around and giving him a fearful look, Zak muttered, "What do we do?"
"Calm down, he's in the sweet shop. But that," Darryl joked, "is why we're terrible at this."
Not even listening, Zak darted away and into the shop. He saw a flash of green behind the shelves and rounded the corner. "You can't just walk off, Megs. What if we didn't know where you were? Anything could have happened to you," he grumbled. Mega just gave him a grin, holding up a handful of red... cables?
"Ooh, I love strawberry laces!" Leaning around Zak to get a bag for the cables, Darryl took them to the counter and paid the man there. Pushing them out into the street, he held out the bag to the both of them. "They're so good."
Reaching in warily pulling a long strand out, Zak put one end in his mouth, but screwed his nose up after a few seconds. "It just tastes like strawberry. I'm not impressed."
"I'd be concerned if it didn't taste of strawberry..." Picking up the other end of the cable and putting it in his mouth, Darryl grinned and started to move closer, eating his way along the cable. Laughing quietly and starting to eat his end too, Zak slid his hands onto his waist. They kept getting closer and closer, Darryl raising one eyebrow cheekily - until it snapped in the middle.
Sucking the rest into his mouth, Zak pulled away and started to head back to the car, but Darryl hung back. Turning to glance at him, he laughed at his sulking expression. "Are you really that corny?"
He didn't respond, and Zak rolled his eyes, pulling him into a hug and kissing him. "You're a softie," he murmured, bringing their lips back together - and pushing the half chewed laces into his mouth. "How romantic..."
"You're gross," Darryl complained, grimacing as he lifted Mega up into his arms. Zak just gave him a wicked smile, joining them and putting his lips to his ear.
"You still swallowed - as always..."

Okay, so!
Merry Christmas, you filthy animals <3
Sorry for the bigger gap between parts, I thought I had already written one ready to go up (because I'm really organised, and definitely remember this type of thing), so it took a few more days to actually write it.
JjoollSkylight Here's your Fruit By The (strawberry) Foot idea :)
