Dani's POV.

As we made our way to our destination, I realised it was.. unnervingly silent.

Gosh, I really don't want this to be weird..
But I have no idea what to say to him after our awkward conversation from earlier.

"Hey."
Nico suddenly said, interrupting my thoughts.

"You know.."
I could see a look of uncertainty on Nico's face,
As if he was struggling to say something..

"Remember the last meteor shower?"
He let out a small chuckle.

"The Witches Sabbath was the night after, though I had no idea about it during that time."
He said, while looking down at the ground.
"I didn't even know what it was."

I feel like Nico is acting a little different now.
Is he upset?

"Yeah.. a lot has happened since then."

Was this what he wanted to say?
Is he also avoiding talking about what happened earlier?
Well.. I suppose that's fair after the way I reacted.

"We've all changed a lot, in good ways."

I said as I gave him a lighthearted smile.

"Oh for sure.. just look at how handsome I've become."
Nico said with a cheeky grin on his face.

"Seriously?"
I rolled my eyes at him.
I guess I shouldn't have been concerned.. he seems fine.

"Oh come on.. admit it."
He took a few steps closer to me.

"Doesn't your stomach get all tingly inside when I'm close to you like this..?"
He whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spice.

I almost tripped over my own feet in surprise.

 "Woah, are you okay-"

"I'm fine!"
I said, my cheeks now being coloured bright red.

Oh my god.. my heart is beating out of my chest.
Keep it together Dani, don't let him notice..
He'll never let you live it down if he does!

I cleared my throat, trying to regain my composure.
"Your amount of confidence stayed the same.. that's for sure."

He laughed at my comment.

"It's one of my many great features."

Nico's POV.

Damn it..

I keep trying to get closer to her.. but it doesn't seem to work..
At all.

It seemed like we were getting somewhere with our conversation from earlier though..

What am I saying? She obviously didn't wanna continue talking about it.
She changed the topic almost immediately, and I'd never wanna make her uncomfortable by overstepping her boundaries.

Should I just leave things as they are and wait to see what she does?

"Nico."
I turned to look at her.

"Yeah..?"

I noticed her fidgeting with her fingers.

"About earlier.."

I could see her cheeks being slightly flushed.
Wait..

Maybe she's gonna mention the,
"Guys like you look way better in casual clothes" thing again?

It's been a few months after my "almost" confession too.
And even though I didn't actually confess, she definitely got the memo.

Maybe she's made up her mind..

Maybe..

Just maybe,

After all these years of waiting..-

"Why did you put on two different socks?"

.
.
.

I stared at her in disbelief.

"My socks are what is concerning you right now?"
I rolled my eyes.

"No! I.. I just.."
She cleared her throat.

"I was just wondering."

Dani's POV.

Geez.. I was just trying to make conversation.
Why does he seem so offended?

Actually, he seems more disappointed..

Suddenly I took notice of a hill, the perfect place to watch the meteor shower from.

"Nico look!"

Without thinking, I grabbed his hand.

"Let's go up that hill! We'll have the perfect view from over there."
I said as I dragged him with me before he even had the chance to respond.
