Confession

When the time for transfiguration came it was very awkward. The three of us sat on seperate sides of the room. Fred sat next to Angelina, George sat next to some Hufflepuff boy and I sat next to Lee Johnson again. This time at the back of the room. Fred and George kept stealing glances at me and I felt totally and utterly out of place and alone.

I tryed to focus on the lesson but it wasn't exactly easy. Whenever I tryed to focus I could feel their stares burning holes through my forehead and I felt really self-concious. I hid myself behind my blonde hair and just shook it off. By the end of the lesson I couldn't remember a single word of what Proffesser McGonnagal had said.

My final lesson of the day, charms, wasn't much better either. I was distracted. Very distracted. As soon as we were dismissed from that class I made my way out of there , avoiding any contact with Fred or George. I ran to the quidditch field and just cried.

I didn't even know why I was crying. I came to the conclusion that I was crying out of frustration. I didn't understand how I had been sucked into their arguement. But I had. After a good ten minutes or so of crying, I just stopped.  I wiped my eyes and just stared into the quidditch field. My owl came to me soon, though, with a note from Fred:

Becs,

I'm sorry. Meet me by the lake as soon as you can. If you want to. Please.

Fred.

I had nothing better to do and, as I was convinced Fred would explain everything, I wanted to go. I ran to the lake, ignoring my fears and found Fred up a tree.

"Hey Fred!" I called.

"Hey Becs. I thought you weren't gonna come. Hang on a sec while I climb down." Fred replied.

"No. Stay there. I'm coming up." I said, eager to climb the tree.

"Be careful." He advised.

"Shut up. I've climbed this tree a billion times and not once have I needed to be careful." By the time I finished this I was on the branch below him. I made the last little jump and landed on the branch next to him. I looked at him and he had tear stains running down his face.

"Hey what happened Freddie?" I asked, completly forgetting why I came here.

"Me and Ang broke up." he replied.

"Why?" I said, completly surprised.

"I didn't want to be with her anymore." he replied, shrugging his shoulders.

"Is that why your crying?" I was confused. Why did he end it with her?

"No." he said honestly.

"Then wh-" I stopped and shuffled over to him as he had started crying. I comforted him by putting a hand on his back. He put his head on my shoulder. I put my head on his.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked.

"Yes." I waited. I didn't know what he wanted me to say.

"Talk then!" I said.

"Well, me and George are arguing."

"I got that." I said. He laughed. Fred had one of those laughs that are so goofy they make you laugh so we both, eventually, ended up cracking up.

"Anyway. Me and George are arguing about something. Well not just something..." He had lifted his head up and by the time I had looked into his eyes, I knew what he was going to say. I sincerly hoped he wouldn't say it but, he did: "You.".

I took my hand off his back and put my head into them. We had a silent agreement years ago that when I did this, I was not to be interrupted. He waited patiently.

"Okay. Go on." I said, after a while.

"Well, I like you. So does George. That's basically it." he whispered.

"Right. We should go get something to eat." I didn't know what else to say. I was even more frustrated than I was before. I'd known the twins all my life and I could, in no way, choose between them. I didn't want to. I just wanted to go back to normal. Normal as in them pulling  pranks on me and me pulling pranks on them.

Eventually Fred nodded and we made our way to the bottom of the tree.

"So what's gonna happen-"

"Nothing is Freddie. I just need to think, okay?".

Fred nodded again and we entered the hall.
