It's 3 in the morning when she calls you, her voice shaky and panicked. She asked if she could come over, and of course you said yes. You could never say no — not to her.

When she arrives, you'd been standing by the door for 10 minutes trying to keep your composure; she finally acknowledged you exist.

You were so nervous that you forgot to even open the door for her — she had to ring the bell twice before you realized that Addison Montgomery was outside your house and she needed help.

When you open the door, her face is stained with tears and she's soaking wet from the rain outside, so you pull her in and wrap a blanket around her.

She tells you that she and Derek were over after sitting in silence for a good 3 minutes, and you can't bring yourself to be surprised. They were clearly on the rocks and after Addison had that breakdown in front of you, you knew it was probably over between them.

But you sympathize, and you wrap your arms around her, comforting her just like you did the last time.

It seemed the only time she spoke to you was when she needed someone to hold her. It's not that you were complaining though, anything to be able to hold her as close as you are right now — to have her nuzzling her head into your neck like she is right now.

It'd be a perfect moment if it weren't for the fact she'd just broken up with her husband of a decade and she wasn't bawling uncontrollably.

You couldn't exactly decipher your feelings toward her. One part of you hated her with every fiber of your being and the other wanted nothing but her. You would toss Derek aside in a heartbeat if it meant you could be with her.

Her breathing finally slowed, but she didn't lift her head from the crook of your neck and you didn't let her go.

You stayed like that for as long as she needed. For as long as you both needed.
