I was walking to my car, not realizing I dropped my wallet until I heard a man shout behind me "Miss, excuse me?". I turned around and froze, seeing exactly the man Amani described, down to the last detail. It was amazing to see how powerful her clairvoyance abilities were, so much stronger than mine have ever been. Of course he was hundreds of times more attractive than she described him, but it was still awfully impressive I took my wallet from his hands and thanked him. "That's quite a lot of bags you got there, let me help you with that".
He took a few bags from my hands and we both walked to my car, making small talk:
"
- You're not from here are you?
- No, I just moved here today
- Welcome, you'll love it here, it's the perfect town
- I love it so far
- Is that your daughter? He pointed at Amani, sitting in the passenger seat
- Yes indeed, a blessing
- What about your husband?
- Well let's say it's complicated
- Oh, I'm sorry
- Don't be, those things happen. There we are.
- Alright. He helped load all the bags into the car
- Thank you so much
- I'm Chrollo. I shook his hand
- Y/n
- Beautiful name for a beautiful lady. I'll see you around.
- Nice to meet you
- The pleasure is all mine, goodbye
"
I got into the car and turned to Amani, both surprised at how spot on her dream was. We drove home and started putting away everything we bought before I started cooking something. While cooking she came behind me, sitting on the counter with a sly smile:
"
- So, this man?
- What about him?
- He's handsome isn't he?
- I guess
- So?
- What?
- Do you like him?
- Oh obviously! All it took was exchanged less than twenty sentences for him to sweep me off my feet. I'm so in love with him I'm going to go write songs about his beautiful eyes
- Mama. She chuckled
- Plus, I'm technically still married to your dad
- Oh yeah
-Amani! I exclaimed, surprised and amused. Did you forget you have a dad, and me a husband?
- Yes but like you said back there, it's complicated, I know dad is in on it
- Amani...
- In my mind, dad betrayed us, that why we left
- He's still your dad, and he's still my husband
- But-
- Amani, you're too young for this kind of conversation anyways, you're thirteen
- But I'm mature
- Not that much. We'll talk about this when you'll be eighteen yeah?
- That's in five years
- Exactly, plenty of time, now, let's eat
- Sure, I'm starving
"
Amani and I started eating, in front of the tv, watching a random show. We finished eating, shared a tub of ice cream before putting our clothes away. She absolutely adored her walk in closet and mine just reminded me of my singer days, I loved the nostalgia. After a while, we were bored so we decided to go out and explore the town. Take a look at the school she was going to attend, we found some cute coffee shops, a few libraries. This town was perfect.
We finally ended up going home at around sunset, had dinner, talked, played a few games and eventually went to bed. The first night, Amani and I decided to share my room, neither of us wanted to be lonely and alone on the first night in such a big house.
The next day we both woke up pretty late, had breakfast and decided to visit the school. I put on a nice outfit, Amani got dressed and we were now on our way to the school.
There, we were welcomed by the principal and visited the school, we stumbled upon one classroom where the teacher looked awfully familiar. I knew him, but it was like I couldn't get my finger on it. We entered the classroom and greeted him, that's when I recognized him. "Ivory?" my voice cracked in disbelief, it couldn't be. I haven't seen him in decades, though it seemed like even longer.
"Y/N?" he was as shocked as I was. My little brother (Author's note: for those who forgot, Ivory is Y/n's little brother that was put up for adoption, it was a plot hole I wanted to fill) ran into my arms. This felt unreal, like a dream. We broke the hug and I looked at him, holding his cheek, he has grown so much, he had beautiful features, with the same heart shaped birth mark he had on his cheek. It was him, my brother and I were finally reunited.
I let him finish his class and later during break, we could finally catch up, and he finally got to meet his niece. Since we barely had enough time to catch up I gave him my address so he could come over after school.
I signed Amani up for school and her and I left. On the way home, I explained a part of the family history and how she was related to Ivory. We got home and I instantly got to work, digging into my memories to try and remember what foods he loved.
I ended up making a full meal, cookies and a nice cold pitcher of lemonade. I sat, alert on the couch, waiting until I could eventually hear the doorbell ring. Once it finally did, I jumped out and ran to the door, opening it in one strong swing. I urgently welcomed him into my house and we instantly started talking about whatever. He told me about his life, his work, his passions.
I updated him about my entire life, my singer days, my -not sure I can even call him that anymore- husband, my kid, why I moved here. He was shocked to say the least but thankful that fate decided to guide me to him.
It didn't even fell like we haven't seen each other in years, it felt normal, like family usually acts. I was happy, grateful that this new life was starting to feel easier.
