The light at the end of the Shadow Realm goes out and my heart sinks. That was our only way home.

But then suddenly a golden light shoots through the shadow realm like a comet.

Then I see them, Jim and Claire. They're chasing after the staff but it keeps getting away from them.

Steve and I struggle to join the fight, using The floating debris to move through the Shadow Realm. 

Jim does catch up with the staff for a second, but then it speeds up and Jim is flung off.

The staff whizzes past me and I reach for it, but it slips out of my hand the second I grab it. "How do we catch that thing?" I yell up at Claire. 

Claire watches the nonsensical pattern the staff is moving in for a moment. She then steady's her stance on a floating rock and stretches her hands out. I can't quite hear what she says, but I can see Claire's mouth moving and suddenly the staff lurches towards Claire. "You don't control me!" Claire shouts before muttering her stream of gibberish once again. The staff shoots back towards Claire and this time she catches it. "I did it!" Claire smiles but the victory is short lived because the staff turns and plummets downwards, pulling Claire with it. "Grab onto the staff!" Claire shouts and Steve and I scramble to get a hold on the staff. 

Suddenly a portal opens and I'm dumped back into Claire's room.

Blinky, one of the trolls Jim told me about is standing over Claire's body with Stricklor, holding a green knife over her chest. Claire wakes up and screams when she sees the knife. "Were you going to stab me with that thing!?" She yells."

"No." Blinky says at the same time Stricklor says "Yes." 

"Steve?" I look around and my eyes find him sitting on Claire's bed, clutching his head in his hands. "Steve!" I run over to him and hug him again. "Are you ok?"

"Yeah I'm fine." Steve says, head still cupped in his hands. "Thank you for saving me."

"No I'm sorry for making you follow Jim and Claire."

"Dude that's not cool." Jim says.

I wave Jim off. "Were having a moment."

Then theres the quiet aound of a door creeking open. "Claire! We're home!"

"Aw crap thats my parents!" Claire says. "You guys gotta go." Claire opens her window. "Out there."

"You want us to jump out your window?" I say, half expecting Claire to be joking.

"Yeah you'll be fine. Jim and Toby have done this before."

I look at Jim concerned. "You often jump out of girls windows?"

He just shruggs and turns towards the window, opening it.

I hold Steves hand as we walk towards the window. I go out first, my foot slipping slightly on the roof. I regain my balence and slowly start shuffleing down.

Once I get a little further down Steve comes out of the window. I smile up at him and jump the rest of the way down. My legs sying with the force of the impact.

"You ok?" Steve calls down.

"Yeah I'm fine. Its not as far of a drop as it looks."

After another minuite or two both Steve and Jim are both on the ground and we are all in the forest next to Claire's house.

Jum starts walking back to his house and Steve and I walk together to our houses.

"I feel like some sort of supervilan. Doing strange things under the cover of night and excapeing through windows." I smile at Steve. He smiles back.

"Na, you're the hero."

My face flushes a vibrent shade of red and, heart pounding, I decide to go for it. "Im not the hero. The hero gets the girl."

Steve shrugs and smiles. "Then youll make the ladies wish they had you, and the lads weak at the knees."

I giggle quietly and grab his hand in mine. "I dont need all the lads in the world." I say coyly.

"What more could you really want?" Steve says sarcasticly.

I open my mouth to say but Steves phone rings. He looks at the screen. "Its from the hospital." Steve says, concern edgeing into his voice.

He answers the phone and after only a few seconds his entire face goes pale. "I-Its my mom." He stammers out.

"Is she ok?"

"I-I dont know. I have to go." Steve starts running the opposite direction towards the hospital.
