halloween night.
one of my favorite- no, my favorite night of the entire year. it used to be so much fun as a kid, it's still pretty fun, just not the same.
maybe i wasn't trick or treating anymore, but i surely wasn't going to miss out on the experience. that's why i take my sister's trick or treating every year. my parents didn't mind, and they both loved it. so did i.
"ab, come on we still need to do your make up!" i shouted up the stairs, walking into the living room to see abigail already waiting for her make up. abigail was a princess, ashley was a zombie. they may be eight year old twins, but they were nothing alike at all.
"c'mere." i told abigail, motioning with my hand for here to follow me. i went into the bathroom and opened the medicine cabinet. mom always left her make up around here somewhere. it was practically in every room in the house.
i finally found some stuff that would look decent on her. at least, i think so. we both went into her room and sat on her bed, abigail in front of me. she already had her bright pink princess gown on. thankfully, mom had done her hair already. i knew nothing about hair, except how to dye it, but i'm not going to dye hers any time soon.
anyways, i took out the first thing. lip stick. it was a sort of light, pastel pink color. i dragged it across her lips a few times, and it looked okay. after that was just some purple eye shadow. i'm not the best at it, but it didn't look terrible. i picked up the next thing i got and frowned. mascara. what is that? i twisted it open and pulled to top out, seeing the weirdest brush i've ever seen.
"mom!" i called out.
"yes?" she called back.
"how do you use mascara?" I shouted.
i could vaguely hear her say something about how i shouldn't wear mascara and that was coming to help me. soon i heard a few steps, and abigail's door opened, revealing our mom.
"oh thank goodness. i thought you were going to wear that." mom mumbled, shaking her head a bit as she walked over to us.
"since when do i wear make up?" i said in response, rolling my eyes.
"okay well josh, your sister is only eight, she doesn't need mascara-" i cut her off.
"but i want her to look pretty. she's a princess." i said, pouting slightly.
"josh, sweetie. do you even know where mascara goes?"
"your mouth?"
"good guess, but you're pretty far off. it goes on your eyes. and i think she looks just as pretty with out it."
that made abbi giggle a bit, which i always loved. i loved when she was happy.
i huffed and sighed dramatically. "okay, fine. i won't put it on her."
"thank you," mom started. "shouldn't you guys be going though? it's almost 7 o'clock and most houses stop by 8." shit, i should've actually been paying attention to the time.
abbi gasped. "come on joshie we have to leave!" she stood up, about to run out the door.
"wait!" i called out. "i still haven't put any glitter on you!"
that made her immediately come back and sit down right where she was. i knew she loved glitter. mom just laughed before she shut the door, leaving the room.
quickly, i put some of this 'special' face glitter on her and made sure everything looked decent. she looked fine, so we left her room afterwards.
once we were downstairs again, ashley was sitting on the couch, playing on her ds, her trick or treat bag right next to her. abigail grabbed her bag and then sat down right next to ash.
"okay, let's head out." i announced, walking over to the door. i opened it and stepped outside, smiling. this was going to be great.
