"Well, Peters, what's your take on her?" Friedman asked his partner as they were heading back to the station.

"Well, she definitely didn't know about the explosive, or that her husband's death wasn't accidental, that was clear. But, I don't know, something seems off, I think she may know who is involved or why. She was definitely hiding something."

"Yeah, that's what I got, too. Let's go talk to Alvarez and Cohen and see what they have to say about the MPR on her daughter."

'Oh, Matt, I never even thought about it!" June's hands were trembling. What was worse than knowing Garrett was murdered, was the fact that whoever did it, really had no problem with killing, and that meant they really would hurt Trina if she didn't get that drive to them.

"Yeah, it had kind of crossed my mind, but there was enough going on, I didn't want to speculate, in case I was wrong. And I was hoping I was wrong." Matt stroked June's arm with his fingers.

"Okay, we have to get moving. How, umm, where do you think we should start?" She was straightening herself, determined now.

"Okay, before we start driving around everywhere, let's do some legwork from here first. More than likely he would stay close to home, so we start calling all the nearest banks, and we see if there is safe deposit box under your husband's name. Listen, June," Matt paused, trying to find the right words. "I don't mean to speak ill of your husband, but we really don't know what we might find, but it might not be good, you'll have to prepare yourself for the possibility. Are you going to be okay with that?"

"Yes, I will have to be. I won't fall apart on you, not today. Everything else will have to be put aside and dealt with later. Trina is my only focus right now." Matt looked at her, at her strength. Yes, he thought, she would push through it all.

"Okay, let's start with a phone book, you take the first half, and I will do the second half, and we will knock these out."

They started making phone calls, June got through to a manager at each branch she called, stating that her husband had died and she found the safe deposit key and was trying to figure out which bank it was from, in case her husband's will was in the box. Matt had been calling acting as estate lawyer for the deceased, and so far he had not found it.

They had gotten through all of the banks in Colemar, so they started to branch out a little. When June called Lemonwood Savings and Trust, she found what she had been hoping for. They did show records of Garrett Greene renting a safe deposit box at that location. She got directions, and thanked the manager, and let him know they would be coming in to retrieve items from the box. The manager informed her she needed proper ID and, as her name was not on the account, then she needed proof of marriage, as well as proof of death. She thanked him, and hung up.

"Okay, well, we know where it is, but we have to have my marriage certificate, which isn't a problem, and Garrett's death certificate. How do I get that, and wouldn't it look strange, my asking for his death certificate while his murder is being investigated?"

"Yeah, it might raise some suspicion, but just stay as close to the truth as possible, that you need it to open his safe deposit box, which may contain his will. We'll go to the Coroner's office, I think that's where we can get the certificate." They packed up everything they needed, and walked to the front door. They decided to take Matt's car, it needed to be moved before the street sweeper came anyway. So they climbed into his white Toyota Corolla, that looked more brown than white.

Matt quickly cleared some of the trash from the front and threw it in the back.

"Umm, sorry about the mess, I'm still getting used to the long shifts and everything else has come second to resting on my days off.

"No problem, if it were just me, I would probably be the same way." She smiled, remembering how many arguments there had been between herself and various foster parents about her messy room.

"Yeah, right. Somehow, I don't think that's true. I mean your house is spotless, you can't even tell that a small child lives there."

"Well, that's Garrett's influence. Remember his work bench, everything in its place. He likes the whole house in order, and well, I've adapted, it was one little thing I could do for him, when he did so much for me." She started thinking about it more, she loved Garrett with everything she was, and she didn't mind the little changes he requested of her. She wore makeup for him everyday, shaved her legs everyday, took care of the house, and Trina. Now that she thought about it, it did seem a little like she was a Stepford wife. But that was marriage, right? Give and take, sacrifices for each other. But she had never asked any sacrifices of Garrett, or asked him to change anything. She had always loved him just as he was.

Matt was thinking about how much June had to change to accommodate the great Garrett. It made him sad for her, to think she didn't realize how great she was, and didn't need to change for a man.
