Hello,

This is an OC x Aizawa story, many of you probably already know Joue from Raindrop. If you don't, she's the counselor at UA. You as (y/n) will show up from time to time, but not super often.

Some people asked for this, so I thought I would put something together!

Enjoy~

Joue's POV

"So I have a lot of experience with children, my first job was a dance teacher for all ages. That and my degree have taught me a lot on how to interact with youths," I stated, arms folded neatly in my lap and my ankles crossed. I looked upon the quaint teacher of UA. My career counselor had gotten me this interview out of the blue after I was forced to leave my position as a family counselor. Having a great amount of experience on my resume sounded good on paper, but I had way too many jobs to count. The longest place I had worked for was as a dance teacher, it was kind of obvious I could not hold a job. It was hard to get and keep a job in places that were not a fan of basic, heroic quirks. Mine wasn't all that bad, but it wasn't the most reassuring.

"So you read emotions then?" he asked.

"Yes, it is a good assisting tool in sessions," I stated.

"Okay, did you have any questions for me?"

"Actually, yes. Why did this position open up?" I asked. The principal Nezu looked at me.

"It is a newly instated position. It has come to my attention that some students could use some help, so I need a well-trained professional to work with them," he stated. "Raising heroes for the future is more complicated than it may seem."

"Of course, and thank you," I replied. He nodded, hopping down from his chair. Normally I would've stood to shake someone's hand, but I remained seated so I could reach him. I shook his hand before standing as he waddled to the door.

"Would you like to see your office?" he asked.

"The office if I received the position?" I countered.

"No, it's yours now," he replied. "I've been interviewing all day and you are the most qualified person to work here. Plus, I don't mind you."

I furrowed my eyebrows slightly, not knowing if that was a compliment or just the bare minimum. He opened the door and I blinked a few times, following behind him.

"Wait—Thank you so much for the opportunity," I stated. "I am very excited to start working here."

He just gave me the job? Isn't this a prestigious hero school? It shouldn't be this easy.

"It's no problem. I'll have you come in later this week for a short training and then put you in right away," he stated and I agreed. He stopped at a bare office, opening up the door. There was a small corner table and desk, a window behind the desk. I glanced at the shade against the wall beside the door, a shade covering nothing. There was no window.

"What is this for?" I questioned, tugging it down.

"They were going to put windows in, but decided not to," he replied. "You can take it down if you like."

"Oh..." I said, letting it roll back up.

"Essentially you'll be connected to the office. I'll teach you how to use the phone, look at and schedule meetings with the software, how to file incident reports, etc."

"Right, thank you," I said, looking around.

"I have one last question before you go."

"Yes?"

"Why do you have so many jobs?" he questioned.

"Have?"

"Or have had," he explained.

"I initially worked with PTSD patients, but with my quirk it was a little too much. There are other quirks better suited to it. Then I worked with addiction patients, which was difficult to me. I moved into children's and then family. I have jumped around trying to find the right position for me and then subsequently the right institution. I think this is a good place for me," I stated. I felt kind of bad for fibbing about the times I had been let go or forced to leave because my coworkers disliked me. It wasn't my fault and I tried to keep the other half of my quirk under wraps, but people eventually found out. It didn't matter that I didn't use it, it mattered that it's connotation was on the negative side. I omitted it from my resume, knowing I never used it anyways and that it would cause jobs to turn me down.

Nezu looked at me for a long moment before nodding with a smile.

"Well, let me know what day you can come in to train and we'll be set," he stated.

"Thank you again."

"You're welcome, do you need to be seen out?"

"No, I am okay thank you," I replied. As I headed out, I realized that I had just gotten a job, which never happened directly after my interview. Nezu must have an odd way of doing things. I made my way down the front hall, seeing some students about. I glanced down to see 2 pro heroes near the wall. I was no crazy hero fan, but I recognized Midnight and Eraserhead. I felt my skin flush slightly, turning to look away. My nerves ran rampant, recognizing my heavy interest in the rooftop hero. He was certainly one of the most handsome heroes I had seen and he, too, seemed like an interesting person.

I would actually be working near him.

I glanced down, catching a glimpse of my giveaway. My quirk had a comical heart printed on my chest, much like a tattoo. The skin inside the black outline turned the color of whatever emotion I was experiencing or reading. It was a solid, rosy pink. I fanned my face, realizing that I would have to cut my whole crushing act when I began working here. The thought we might interact made my stomach churn.

I made my way home, looking at the time. I called up my friend, knowing she would be awake in US time. She answered immediately.

"Hey sexy! How was the interview?"

"It was really good, he literally gave me the job at the end of the interview."

"Yes! That's so wonderful, oh my god," she gushed. "I'm so proud of you. I can't believe you get to work with heroes."

"Yeah."

"...You get to work with Aizawa."

"Yeah."

"You sure you can handle yourself? Whenever you see pictures of him, you lowkey freak," she stated.

"Hey! I'm not that bad."

"Ooo he's going to fall in love with you for sure. Everyone should with you," she stated and I smiled, shaking my head in embarrassment.

"Don't get my hopes up. I'm sure I'll talk to him maybe once," I refuted, sighing.

"What? Oh come on, you're amazing as fuck. He'd be LUCKY to talk to you," she stated. I glanced at myself in the mirror, eyeing my complexion.

"I guess."

"No guessing. 100%."

"Okay, okay, I'll keep you updated," I said. "How is your boy?"

"He's good, I think he's going to pop the question soon," she stated. "He's the whole package, like knows all the good songs, makes me breakfast, goes grocery shopping."

"You hate grocery shopping."

"Exactly! Perfect," she stated.

"Well I hope he does an amazing proposal. He's already got my approval and he already knows I'm about to maid of honor the HELL out of that wedding," I said. She laughed over the phone and I smiled. The conversation went silent and I let out a sigh, knowing the minutes were running long. "I miss you."

"I miss you too Joue," she said.

"I'll let you go now," I stated. "Love you and I'll text you tomorrow."

"Love you! I look forward to it," she replied. We hung up at the same time and silence fell over my apartment. It wasn't fair that she lived all the way in America, but that was just how things were. I couldn't drop everything and move over there, though it sure seemed like it. I glanced around my apartment. Didn't seem like anything was keeping me here. My cat, Uno, leapt up on the couch.

"Hello beautiful girl," I said, running my hand down her back. She just mewed at me and I sighed, leaning up against my hand. "We have a new gig."

Uno stared at me.

"That means you have to stay with mom," I stated. Uno's mood visibly soured. She was the most expressive cat I had ever owned and I knew that when she heard mom, that meant my younger brother and family dog. "Come on, my grandma spoils you."

She sulked and leapt from the couch, leaving me to sigh. I stood up, figuring I would have dinner. Sadly...alone again. At least Uno was here, and maybe I would find a new companion at UA. The ladies in the office seemed nice enough. It was never nice to start over, but honestly, I was just excited to work there.

So excited.

My heart flushed electric yellow.
