Chapter 4
Channing
"Oh my gosh, Sunni, it's so good to see you. I missed you." Sanai gushed, as Sunni and walked in to the Curry household.
I stood back as they engaged in all that girly nonsense.
"And Channing its so good to see you as well." Sanai greeted me after she finished with Sunni.
"C'mon guys. Everybody's hanging out on the patio." She instructed us.
We followed behind her closely as we walked through their huge and outside to the patio area which was equally impressive.
The get together was smaller than I anticipated. Besides Sunni and I there was Stephen and Ayesha, Sanai And Skylar and Sydel and Seth (Stephen's siblings). It was cool I guess. I wasn't really up for meeting new people.
After we exchanged greetings the four women went inside the house to finish up the cooking while the men remained outside.
"So how do you think the next season is gonna play out?" I asked, just to spark up conversation.
"I mean I have feeling we're gonna do great. Seeing as how I have a new right hand man, we gon be good." Steph said, motioning toward Skylar.
"I wouldn't say all that but you knowwww." Skylar said, popping his collar. Laughter rippled through the group before we settled into a comfortable silence.
"So are you almost done with school?" Seth asked me .
"Yeah. I have one more semester left."
"So you're older than Sunni? I didn't know that." Skylar said.
"Just by a year. No biggie." I assured him.
"Yeah, what are your intentions with my sister, man?" He questioned me. I was kind of caught off guard by the question.
"What do you mean?"
"What do you mean what do I mean? Where is this relationship going? What are you doing for my sister?"
"Is she complaining?" I questioned.
"No."
"Well there's nothing to worry about then huh?" I said with a smirk before sipping my beer.
He arched his eyebrow at me.
"I'll take your word for it but, I've seen my sister crying on multiple occasions behind yall relationship. I don't like that."
"Well the fact that other people are uncomfortable with the fact that I'm white and my girl is black has nothing to do with me. Just know that I do stand up for my relationship whenever wherever. I'd love Sunni all the same if she was red, blue or green. The color of her skin doesn't mean shit to me." I said confidently.
"Told yall he was a white nigga." Skylar with a smirk as he extended his fist for a pound.
Sunni
"So spill. What is it like being with a white guy?" Sanai asked me immediately.
"Well the relationship is amazing. Channing is a really good guy and he really shows that he cares about me in all that he does. It's the outside people that make the relationship difficult."
"How so?" Ayesha asked.
"People are so judgemental. It's ridiculous. They are outright with it too. They'll make little comments, make disgusted facial expressions and even shake their heads at us."
"Awww." They all cooed, patting me on my back consolingly.
"It's just hard because I love Channing. All I want to do is love, be in love and make love to my man. His skin color shouldn't mean anything." I said feeling myself getting really emotional.
"Like your parents told Skylar and I; people are always gonna have things to say about your relationship. But if you're satisfied with it then forget about what everybody else has to say." Sanai said.
"You're right. I just have to remain confident. I really care for Channing and I don't want anything to come in between that."
"Nothing has too. Just be strong Sunni. You all are going to be ok." Ayesha said kindly. "Now you mentioned making love...how is that?" She asked with a smirk and arched eyebrow.
"Well in comparison to the one other black guy that I have been with, Channing is way better. Its like you can tell that he cherishes every part of my body. He takes his time. Its intense and passionate all at once. And his kisses....mmm." I said, not even able to complete my revelation. I was getting too hot.
"Oooowweeeee. Looks like I needs to find me a white man. Yall know I'm down with the swirl." Sydel laughed.
