TW: Drug mention
George woke up and checked his phone. It was Thursday. Two more days before he had to show up to his least favourite setting- a place full of sweaty people making out- the club. And even worse he had to go with Mr. confident, who surely would just end up making out with someone and ignoring the mission.
He arrived at work and started looking for more substantial evidence. They had their first lead but if it didn't work out, they had nothing. He had no idea what to look for at this point.
"GEORGE" Dream shouted across the office.
"COME HERE"
"God that man is annoying" muttered George before walking over to Dreams desk. "What?" George asked.
"First of all I found the opening times for that club we found out about yesterday, it's 9pm-1am Saturday nights, so be ready for that. Also we're out on the field today, we're going to check the streets for evidence of drugs." Dream said, standing up and heading out the door once again.
George followed him sighing. He literally had no time to rest with Dream. He was always going somewhere and planning something.
"So what i'm thinking is we just check the street corners for needles or bags? There had to be at least one somewhere." Dream said.
"That's so dangerous though" George replied. "What if we"-
"Yes i'm aware of that. That's why I brought gloves dumbass" Dream said, cutting him off. He brought out a box of disposable gloves from his bag.
"Oh. Well you could have just said that" George muttered snatching 2 gloves from the box.
"Stop being a whiny bitch" Dream said, putting on his gloves. "Be useful for once and start looking for something."
"I am" George sighed, looking down at the ground. He didn't know what to look for or where to look for it. Those words had hurt him. He always felt like he was not as good as everyone else, but, what else would he expect coming from Dream. It's not like he should care.
George kept on scanning the ground until he came across something shiny in the ground, next to a run down building. He picked it up and saw it was a needle, almost fully empty.
"Dream!" he yelled carefully walking with the needle.
Dream appeared from behind a building and started walking over. "Wha- Oh! You actually found something! Put it in this bag" Dream said holding out a plastic ziplock bag.
"I mean that's a good job- for you anyway" Dream mocked.
"Then why weren't you the one to find it? Or was your ego in the way of your face?" George responded. "Also give the bag to me, I don't want you to take credit for it"
"Only if you can reach it" Dream teased holding the bag high above his head.
"I'm not doing that" George said. "Fine keep the bag, but remember karma will come back to get you" George huffed before angrily speed walking back in the direction of the office.
Dream smirked.
Once they arrived at the office George snatched the bag out of Dreams hand. He stormed into the agents office and showed him what he had found. The agent congratulated him and told him he would send this to the lab to be tested for fingerprints.
"So, your work with Dream is going well after all" the agent said.
"No. Well not really. I'm the one who found the needle." George said.
"You guys work well together, even if you can't see that" the agent said. "Now, out of my office and back to work"
George walked out. "No we don't" he thought.
He grabbed his files and his keys and started heading out the door, when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around.
"George I"- Dream started. "You did a good job for a guy with no brain, i'll uh- i'll see you tomorrow" He patted George's shoulder and left abruptly.
"Weirdo" George thought as he got in his car and drove home.
George woke with a jump. He had a nightmare, but he didn't remember it. It was 6am on a Friday morning. "God this week has gone on forever" he mumbled. He had work in 2 hours so he decided to have a shower and some breakfast. Suddenly he heard his phone ring. He checked and it was an unknown number. He decided to answer anyway.
"Hello?" said George.
"Come to the cafè" replied the voice of Dream.
"Dream? How did you get my number?" George asked.
"Don't worry about that. "Come to the cafè" responded Dream before immediately hanging up.
"Why is he in a cafè this early? George mumbled angrily, reluctantly grabbing his keys and leaving.
"There you are, you like cappuccinos? It doesn't matter anyway because I don't care but I ordered two so you might as well have one." Dream babbled.
"What is this about? And why are you up so early?" George asked.
"I could ask you the same question. Anyway, sit down and i'll tell you what it's about." Dream said.
"Okay?" George responded, picking up his cappuccino and having a sip. He didn't like coffee, but since Dream was being a decent person for once in his life he thought he would drink it anyway.
"I thought of a plan for Saturday night. It opens at 10pm so meet me outside at 9:30pm. Dress nicely, I know that might be hard for you, but we are going to a club, we want to fit in. So what we're going to do is if anyone offers any type of drug, we pretend to take it. Keyword PRETEND to take it. Then we ask them where we can get more, and hope they point to somewhere in, or near the club" Dream rabbled.
"That's a great plan, but could you not have told me this in the office?" George asked.
"No because we're on field work again today and I don't want anyone to overhear. At least there's no one in here." Dream replied, sounding impatient.
"Speaking of; what are we supposed to be doing today?" George asked. "I don't think we're going to find anything out until Saturday at least"
"I agree. I guess we could just walk around, look for anything suspicious maybe? I would just go home but I don't want to be fired." said Dream.
"I wish I could go home and not have to deal with you all day" George said.
"I couldn't agree more but sadly, life isn't fair so deal with it." Dream replied.
"Oh i'm dealing with it just fine, considering how I haven't punched your head in yet" George mumbled.
"What was that? You should speak up. Anyway i'm going to patrol the town so either come or don't" remarked Dream, standing up and leaving.
George hesitated, but decided to go with Dream. He didn't have anything better to do anyway.
"Oh, you're coming?" Dream questioned.
"Unfortunately" sighed George.
They walked around the streets for about 30 minutes, when they heard a familiar voice shout: "HEY YOU GUYS! I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU TWO!!" They turned around to see the 'crackhead' that caught them looking at him the other day.
"Run" whispered Dream.
They found themselves running though the streets of the town once again. George really wished he had done something else with his life. Fortunately the man chasing them was slow, so they had enough time to dash around a corner.
"Shit!" exclaimed George, seeing it was a dead end. He knew if they left now they would be caught, and the last thing he wanted was to be stabbed by a rusty knife.
"Quick, in here" Dream said. Before George could even react he was pulled in a gap between a building and a wall, keeping them out of view.
George's hands were pressed against the wall while Dream's chest was pressing off his back. He could feel Dream's breathing on his neck.
"What the fuck Dream?" George whispered.
"Believe me i'm not enjoying this but it's either hide here, or be stabbed." Dream whispered back.
"I think i'd rather be stabbed- Ow Dream you're squishing my back, I can barely breathe!" George said.
"Shut up you're being way too loud! There's nothing I can do George, just hang on" Dream whispered loudly.
Before either of them could start complaining again, they heard the familiar shouts of "I'LL KILL YOU! COME OUT COME OUT WHERE EVER YOU ARE!". The sound got closer and closer until they realised he was very near. They held their breaths and luckily they heard the shouts getting fainter.
"I need to get out right now!" George said as he desperately tried to shuffle out of the small gap.
"Ow! That was my toe you bitch" Dream said angrily, but a smile was creeping onto his face.
"George- stop moving, we need to get out at the same time" Dream had started laughing now, but George was still scowling.
"Move it then and stop laughing, it is not funny at all!" yelped George.
They both shuffled out from the wall, Dream still laughing.
"Remind me never to do that again" George huffed, already heading off down the road. He could see Dream following slowly, still laughing at the event. "Stupid confident bitch" he thought. Of course he found a horrendous event like that funny.
"Hey Mr. sensitive, wait up!" Dream jogged over, still chuckling. "C'mon lighten up! You're annoying enough without being angry too"
"Shut up, we're supposed to be doing a job right now" George said.
"Right except there is absolutely nothing to do. How about we just go home now and say we found nothing? The less time spent with you the better anyway" Dream said.
"That sounds perfect to me" George replied.
"Then i'll see you tomorrow night. Remember 9:30pm and don't forget to dress nice!" Dream said before turning around and walking away.
George made his way back into his car and sighed. "I can't believe I have to go to a club" he said out loud to himself. He had only been once before and told himself he was never going again.
George woke up Saturday morning and groaned. Today was the day. He had absolutely no idea what to wear. He was searching frantically through his closet when he heard his phone ding.
"Hey loser, wear something like this" Dream had texted him. After a few seconds another message came through. Dream had sent a picture of someone wearing a half buttoned white shirt and formal black trousers. He then received another text: "Oh and put on like some rings or a watch"
"Dream i'm not wearing that" George texted back.
"Just do what I say for once. Plus that's what i'm wearing. It's cool but also edgy. Wear it. I'll see you tonight." Dream responded.
George looked through his closet searching for what he needed. He found the right clothes so he opened his drawers looking for any kind of accessories. He found a silver chain and two silver rings. "I can't believe i'm doing this" he sighed.
