"Tell me you didn't, please tell me you didn't babe" Tanner sat on the countertop "you really brought his mother up?" He hung his head, "I thought you said you wouldn't"

Katrina paced in the small kitchen, it had been a few weeks since she said it "I know okay, I have to be in the clear by now, don't you think so?"

"You would know better than I do" he jumped down from the counter and embraced her, "maybe he forgot all about it, right?" He smiled, "he's a five year old, he's got the attention span of a gnat, I bet he's forgotten all about it"

"From your lips Tanner" she smiled, "I could lose my job if he says anything, and this is the best job I've had, that's not even taking into consideration what his parents will do to me" she wouldn't lie she was hurt that Anthony didn't know about Wendy. "I just think he should know about Wendy, that's all"

Tanner put his hands on her hips, "It's not your call, babe. I hope you won't mention it again, he's just a little boy he won't understand it"

She sighed, "I know, you're right. It just sucks"

"Talk to me" Adam said as he propped himself up on his elbows, "something is bothering you what is it?" He was pleased the kids hadn't woken up yet, he'd been working a case and hadn't spent much alone time with Kim.

Kim sat up in the bed pulling the blankets up to her chin, "did you really put the air conditioning on, it's nearly November" she laughed.

"Don't change the subject" he hopped out of bed and adjusted the thermostat, "what is it?"

"I just thought I would be pregnant by now" she looked crestfallen, "what if I don't get pregnant?"

"Hey, we have two beautiful children already and while I'd like nothing more than to add another one, we will be okay if it doesn't happen" he stroked her cheek, "we just have to keep trying" he winked, "it'll happen"

"You know I'm still pretty cold, do you think you could help with that?" She laughed.

"Mrs.Ruzek, that was the lamest line I've ever heard, but I will definitely help you" he laughed as he climbed back underneath the covers.

Trey waited his turn to go through the metal detector, he knew Declan would be pissed that he showed up here but he needed to check on his little brother he knew what it was like to be locked up.

"Let's go!" The guard said motioning for Trey to walk thru, nodding his head when Trey was deemed 'safe'.

Trey filled out the information sheet and handed it to the receptionist, she took it and quickly read it over, "Go to window seven, the prisoner will arrive shortly" she told him a permanent scowl on her face.

"Yea, thanks" Trey told her on his way to the window.

Declan plopped down in the chair a few minutes later, begrudgingly he picked up the phone "What part of don't come visit me didn't you understand?" He asked.

Trey picked at the peeling countertop, using his fingernail to lift the corner, "I know what it's like in here, you know"

Declan could hardly contain his laughter, "Excuse me? Doing a few nights in solitary with Uncle Adam's friend looking out for you isn't the same Trey, not even close"

He held his hand up, "You're right, I'm sorry. Are you doing okay?"

"I'm having a ball" he told him, "what do you want?"

"I just wanted to see that you're okay" Trey explained, "Mom and Charlie miss you"

Declan rolled his eyes, "I'm fine okay" he slammed the phone down and hung his head he knew it wouldn't be long before he was in tears and he couldn't risk the other inmates seeing him cry.

"Alright, who wants waffles?" Kim asked the kids as they colored, "Daddy is still sleeping but I bet as soon as he smells breakfast he will wake up" she told them.

Anthony looked up from the coloring book, "Can I wake him up?" A gleam appearing in his eye.

Kim laughed, "go for it"

Anthony charged down the hallway, and quickly opened the door "Wake up Daddy!" He yelled as he jumped up and down on the bed, "Mommy is cooking"

Adam smiled, "Come here you!" He laughed pulling him into his arms, "I've missed you pal, how's school been?"

"Good, my teacher is nice" Anthony told him, "and PE is a lot of fun dad, except we have to use the little basketball goal, coach says we aren't big enough" he folded his arms across his chest, "but I'm big enough Uncle Kevin always lets me shoot at the big goal"

Katrina was relieved to have gone another week without Kim and Adam questioning her  about what she said to Anthony, she smiled as he put his backpack on the hook in the coat room.

"Ms.Cameron, I gotta tell you something" Anthony said resting his elbows on her desk, playing with the 'melting snowman' someone had given her, "you know my mommy?"

She felt her heart race it's way into her throat, "Anthony what do you mean?" She was certain all color had drained from her face, it was obvious to her that he really meant that he needed to ask her something.

"You said you knew the mommy whose belly I grew in" his eyes focused on her, if the conversation wasn't so serious she would have laughed, it was as if he was interrogating her "you said my real mommy, I have a pretend mommy?"

"If I tell you, do you promise to keep it a secret, just for you and me to know?"

She watched as the wheels turned in his head, "yea, okay" he smiled.

Katrina brought him into the hallway, asking her assistant to take over the rest of the class, "The mommy you live with, you didn't grow in her belly" he looked at her confused, she pulled the picture from her pocket, "you grew in her tummy, her name was Wendy"

"Didn't she want me?" Anthony asked, she wasn't prepared for his question.

Katrina tousled his hair, "She did, baby. She was in a bad car accident with your daddy and she died" she could feel her eyes moisten, "but trust me, your mommy wanted you"

He took the picture from her hand, "this is my mommy?"

"Yep, why don't you keep it but remember it's our secret, okay?" Katrina reminded him, she knew she was taking a big risk and she knew she wrong to tell him but it was eating her alive and when he asked her she couldn't lie to him.

Consequences be damned, he deserved the truth, and so did Wendy.

He returned to his desk, the picture jammed in his pocket, she hoped he could keep the secret, otherwise she may find herself out of a job.

She tossed in turn in bed that night, "Spill it, Katrina" Tanner huffed, "you're obviously bothered by something, you've been miserable all night" he switched the light on, "what is it?"

"I did something, something you might deem stupid"

"Shit, tell me you didn't tell that kid" he groaned.

"I did" she told him, "he brought it up and I couldn't lie to him, everyone in his life has lied to that little boy I couldn't"

He got out of the bed, "Katrina, are you out of your fucking mind? They aren't lying to him, not really he's a little boy who wouldn't understand any of what happened"

"That's not true and you know it! They could have explained it to him in a way he would understand, but no they are just acting as if Wendy never existed and I'm sorry that's wrong"

"It wasn't your call or your place to tell him" he was blown away, "you sat here worried that he would tell his parents what you said, you had panicked" he was confused, "only to turn around and tell him, what the hell is wrong with you?"

She stood up, "you're seriously mad at me?"

"A little yea, 'Trina I love you but this was wrong on so many levels, you claim to care about that kid, but you may have just blown his whole world apart"

"Finally a Saturday off" Adam said over coffee, "what do we have planned for today?" He asked Kim, "Derek and Annie still coming over?"

"I think so" Kim said as she folded the laundry, "it's been too long, I was starting to think Drew would be running by the time we saw them again" Annie had been spending a lot of time with her and Adam's mother limiting the times they could get together. Adam still wanted nothing to do with her and for that Kim was glad, she didn't think she could handle being in the same room as the woman.

Later that afternoon Anthony and Derek had been playing with the basketball hoop in the playroom, "Haha Uncle Derek I beat you!" Anthony laughed racing up the stairs, "Mommy, Daddy I beat his ass again" he yelled.

Kim's jaw dropped, "Anthony Owen! Apologize to your uncle, right now" she yelled annoyed by his language.

Anthony stood on the top step his bottom lip trembling, "Now, Anthony" Kim told him her voice unusually stern.

"Go on, Son" Adam prompted him.

Derek waved his hand, "Kim, Adam it's alright"

Kim stopped him, "No Derek it isn't, Anthony go to your room" she scolded him, his mouth had become a problem as of late and she was going to nip it in the bud, "and no television"

Anthony folded his arms, "I hate you! I want my real mommy, not you!" He took off down the hallway.

"What did he just say?" Annie asked, "did he just say what I think he said?"

Adam stood frozen in place, his jaw slack Kim turned to him, "Adam did you tell him?" She asked barely keeping the tears at bay, "how does he know?"

Kim went to the couch, her hands shaking, "Adam, did you tell him?" anger starting to build.

Adam rushed to her, "I don't know, I swear I didn't tell him" he took her hands in his "I wouldn't have told him with out you"

Annie grabbed Drew, "We're going to go, please call us if you need anything" Annie told her, she could see the apprehension on Derek's face, it was just a matter of time before his role in the accident would come to light.

"Are you okay?" Adam asked her, handing her a tissue, "tell me what you're thinking?"

Harper playing oblivious to what had just occurred, "Kim, come on" Adam said again, "no matter what you're his mother"

Kim stood up and went to the window, "If you didn't tell him, and I certainly didn't tell him, how the hell does he know?" She had thought back on the conversations she had with different people over the last few weeks and she was certain he had hadn't overheard her talking, "you don't think he's heard us talking?"

Adam wrapped his arms around her waist, resign his head on her shoulders, "I suppose that's a possibility" he turned her to face him, "we will talk to him and explain everything, he loves you, you're his mother"

"Will you go talk to him" Kim asked Adam, "I don't think I can" she was heartbroken.

"Of course"

Derek sat opposite Annie at the kitchen table, Drew in the high chair, "That was incredibly awkward" he looked over the sports page, "Kim looked like her heart was ripped from her chest"

Annie handed Drew some Cheerios, "I can't even imagine what it must have felt like to hear Anthony say those words. How do you think he found out?"

Derek shook his head, "I don't know, but I hate that he's going to find out that I caused the accident, I love that kid and he's gonna hate me" he said softly.

"Hey, no he won't" Annie sat in his lap, "he loves you, that won't change" she stopped mid sentence, it suddenly dawning on her, "that bitch!"
