"Kim go to the hospital" Annie said, "Go check on Declan, Derek and I will stay with the kids" Harper was already in bed and Anthony would be soon.

"Yea, go on" Derek told her, a sleeping Drew in his arms, "we've got the kids covered"

"Thank you" Kim went and grabbed a light jacket, the summer nearing its end and the weather turning cool after sunset, "Please call me if anything happens"

Declan stared at the handcuff around his wrist and the other attached to the guardrail on the bed, "I don't know where they had us" he told the officer, "we started off in a warehouse of some kind and then they moved us"

"Adam was he with you then?" The detective asked.

"Yea, but he was knocked out" Declan explained, "have you found him yet?"

Trey couldn't listen any longer, the sound of his brother's voice made him want to scream, "Grandmother, are you okay?" He spotted Elizabeth coming down the corridor, she looked awful.

"Where's your brother?" She asked.

He pointed over his shoulder, "he's being questioned, he's been arrested" he told her, "where is Grandfather and Aunt Kim?"

"Grandfather is parking the car, and your Aunt Kim was talking to an officer" she peeked through the window, "he looks terrible"

"They beat him pretty good he's okay though, he's spending the night and then I guess the police will take him" he saw Kim in the distance. "Aunt Kim, did they find Uncle Adam yet?"

She curled her lip, "No, has Declan said anything?"

Trey hugged her, "Not really, but go on in"

"I'm telling you my uncle wasn't involved" Declan said, he hated that they had even mentioned the possibility Adam was part of the drug ring.

The opening of the door startling them both, "Aunt Kim, I didn't want to call him, but they made me. He said if I didn't they would hurt Charlie, I'm so sorry" he cried.

"Where is he?"

"I don't know"

The detective nodded at Kim, "You're Officer Ruzek's wife, correct?"

"Yes, Kim Ruzek" she extended her hand, "is my nephew under arrest?"

"He is, he's confessed to dealing drugs out of The Lawton Academy" he told her, "Declan tell us again how you managed to get away" hoping to trip him up.

Declan leaned back and closed his eyes, "They had moved us to the new location and they kept beating us" his mind replaying it, "they had really did a number on Uncle Adam, he passed out for awhile"

Kim shuddered at the thought of Adam being hurt and alone.

"They waited until he woke up and then they started in on me again, and Uncle Adam would yell at them to stop, but they didn't listen. They just laughed and hit me more, they hit him a few times too, like if he yelled at them to stop they hit him"

Kim sat in the chair unable to stand, Helen went to her side rubbing her shoulder.

"How long did that last?" The detective asked, surprised the kid's story wasn't changing.

"I don't know, hours I guess" he took a sip of the water they had given him, "after a little bit Johnny said they were going outside for some air" he set the cup on the tray, "That was when Uncle Adam told me to try and rip the tape on my arms"

"Why?"

Declan rolled his eyes, "So we could get out, he told me about a knife on this table that was in the room" he was certain Johnny had forgotten it was in the room, "so I did it"

"Then what happened?"

"Uncle Adam yelled at me, said I wasn't pushing the knife down hard enough" he stole a glance at Kim, he could tell she was fighting to maintain her composure "I was able to get one of his arms free, but then we heard them coming back in, and Uncle Adam told me to sit back down in the chair, he kept the knife" he was hoping it was enough "he said I needed to run when I had the chance, so that's what I did"

"When you ran, what was Adam doing?"

This was the part he knew would break his Aunt Kim, "the guys had just come back, there was three of them, Uncle Adam whispered to me that he was going to make a move and that I needed to run like hell"

"Did he say what he was going to do?"

"No, just said to tell Aunt Kim that he loved her" Declan said.

"On my god" Kim sobbed, Helen hugging her.

Sean kept his flashlight trained on the road, hoping to find something "Antonio, Ruzek's nephew has he given them anything?"

Antonio shook his head, "says he doesn't remember where they had him, just that he hauled ass and found the 57th"

Jay and Kevin found the storefront first, "look at this" Jay said pointing at the two blacked out BMW sedans, "these don't belong here" it was a run down area the cars stuck out like sore thumbs.

"You're right" Kevin told him calling it in, "are we going inside or do we wait for back up"

Jay glanced up and down the block, "it looks empty, I say we go in and hope for the best" he smirked, "Adam's been missing for almost twenty four hours, who knows what condition he's in" he said knowing his friend may need medical help.

They unholstered their weapons and quietly entered the building, it was freezing inside they could hear the air conditioning system running. It was filthy and reeked of fast food, wrappers littered the floor.

Kevin saw the first body, it was laying face down on the tile blood surrounding it, he kicked at the leg, "he's dead" shining the light on his face, "it's not Adam"

They followed the corridor, another body at entrance of another room, voices could be heard.

Jay brought his finger to his lips, and alerted Kevin.

"That was fucking stupid you know" Johnny screamed in his face, his own eye swollen rendering his left eye useless, "no one will find you when we are done with you, shit there won't be anything left of you to find" he spit at Adam.

Adam gingerly lifted the back of his hand and wiped the spit off his face, "they may not find me, but they'll find your sorry ass" he knew he was toast, the two man he killed had been the least of his problems, he had been unaware of the presence of the other three guys who now stood in the room with him and Johnny, "my nephew, he's probably with the cops as we speak" he mumbled every inch of his body hurt, he wanted to give in to the pain to close his eyes and drift off. The only problem was every time his eyes closed, visions of Kim and the kids haunted him, and he knew he had to stay awake.

"We need to wait" Kevin said, "it's too risky"

Their cars all arrived on scene at the same time, they had killed the lights and sirens so they didn't tip them off.

A couple of patrol units with them, "let's go!" Hank told them as they entered the building, they met up with Jay and Kevin and made their move.

Adam caught the movement out of the corner of his eye, "Hey Johnny?" He called out, seeing the guys from the unit had given him a boost of adrenaline, "we've got company" he smirked.

"How's it going?" Hank asked Johnny as he tossed him to the floor, his knee in his back "Johnny Denison, I should have known it was you" he cuffed him.

Sean and Antonio taking care of the others.

"Adam, you alright?" Kevin asked.

"Yea, peachy keen, Kev" he said sarcastically, "Is Declan alright?"

"He is" Jay told him, "he managed to get to the 57th, he's at the hospital, he's been arrested Adam"

The paramedics finally arriving, "I don't need an ambulance, I'm okay" he said as Jay helped him to his feet, he stumbled "okay, maybe I'm not alright" he laughed softly as Jay helped him on the gurney, "Kim?"

Kevin pulled his cellphone out from his jacket pocket and handed it to Adam, "you better call her"

"Are you okay Aunt Kim?" Trey went to her when she came out of Declan's room, "what can I do?"

Kim smiled at him, "I just need to be alone, okay?" Her mind in overdrive, her phone ringing. "Will you get that?" She didn't want to talk to anyone.

Trey grabbed the phone, "Hello?"

Adam's voice was weak, "Trey? Where's Aunt Kim?"

"Right here, hang on" Trey said handing Kim the phone, "here"

Kim wiped her eyes and took a deep breath, "Hello?"

Adam could feel his chest constrict, "Darlin', I'm okay" his voice soft and he sounded exhausted.

Kim sat in the chair, she was unable to speak, "Hey, Kim it's okay I'm okay" Adam repeated though he was anything but okay, "they're bringing me to the Chicago Med"

"You're hurt?" She finally found her voice, "Adam?"

She could hear the paramedics working in the background and the phone switched hands, "Kim, it's Kevin we will be at the hospital in ten"

"Thanks Kevin"

She quickly sent text messages to Bob, Amy, and Annie letting them know Adam had been found. She hustled downstairs to the ambulance bay waiting for Adam to arrive.

Adam stared at the ceiling as the ambulance raced to the hospital, he was certain he had broken ribs, his head throbbed and cuts on his face.

"Officer Ruzek, how do you feel?" The PIC asked, "on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is the pain?"

Adam watched as she inserted an IV, "I don't know, maybe about a five or six"

She looked at him sideways, "You sure?" She asked, his face had multiple lacerations, his right eye was already bruising and he had bruises on his chest "they kicked you around pretty good"

He shrugged, "I know, I've had better days" he teased, "are we almost there?"

"Pulling in now" she told him.

Kim waited for the ambulance doors to open, the paramedic jumping out, "Excuse me, is my husband Adam Ruzek in there?"

"He is" she told her pulling the gurney out,"your wife is here" she told Adam.

As she brought the gurney out she left the two alone, she knew they needed a few minutes and Adam was stable.

Kim rushed to him and grabbed his hand, she ran her free hand through his hair, "Adam, are you alright?" her eyes scanning his body, "I was terrified"

He felt like shit, "I'm sorry I worried you, is Declan alright?"

She nodded "he's fine, he will be a lot better when he knows you're okay" she wiped her eyes, "I love you"

Adam smiled, "I love you too"

"Alright, we need to get you looked at" the PIC said, pushing the gurney inside the hospital, "I'm going to turn you over to the doctors"

"Mrs.Ruzek, we need to take your husband" the nurse told her, Kim had a death grip on Adam's hand.

"Darlin', it won't be long. Go tell Declan I'm okay" he told her, "I love you"

Kim dropped his hand from her's and stood on her toes, placing a kiss on his cheek "I love you too". She turned to the nurse, "where will you take him when he's done?"

"Cubicle 6, you're welcome to wait in there for him" she smiled, "it won't be more than an hour"

Trey poked his head in the door, "Mom, they found Uncle Adam, he's here and he's going to be okay" he smiled, "I'm going to call Annie" the pair had remained friends.

Declan felt relief wash over him, "Thank god"

"You're lucky son, had he died you'd be charged as an accessory" the detective told him, "once you're discharged you'll be headed to Cook County"
