It's been a long time since I've updated this, I recommend giving it another read, so it makes some sense, thanks!

Annie lifted Drew from the seat, "he's mad at me" she spoke, "He needs to understand how it is for me, she was a good mother to me for most of my life"
Kim cleaned up Anthony's mess, "I get that Annie. On some level I guess, but it's not the same for Adam, and what she did to us when Harper was born" goosebumps rising on her arms at the memory, "your brother has the right to be angry with her, we both do"
"I know, but she's my mother" Annie pleaded, feeling as if their relationship was at risk, "you don't hate me, do you?"
"Of course not" Kim told her noticing the relief wash over Annie's face, "but don't expect a happy reunion with your mother and brother. It won't happen"
"Boss, you gotta let me come" Adam begged as the rest of the unit suited up for a call, "I don't think I could sit at that desk another minute"
Voight laughed at him, "Get upstairs Ruzek, you aren't coming. Go help Mouse"
The rest of the unit snickering, "Funny, bunch of assholes" Adam replied as he headed upstairs, slamming the door on his way out.
Derek tossed his keys on the counter, "hey, how did it go with your brother?" He grabbed a Powerade from the fridge, "he pissed?"
Annie checked on Drew before heading in the dining room, "He walked out and I haven't spoken to him since. So, yes I'd say he's pissed"
He wrapped his arms around her, "Shit, I'm sorry. I hate this"
"Kim isn't mad though, we actually ended up having a nice visited. Harper is the cutest thing with Drew, she's like a little mommy"
"Adam will come around, he did with me" Derek told her, "don't give up hope"
"Daddy!" Harper hollered when she saw him come in the door, she jumped into his arms hugging him, "my daddy"
"He's my daddy too" Anthony countered it had become their newest thing both trying to lay claim on Adam.
"That's enough you two, where's mommy?" He asked putting Harper down.
Kim came in the living room, "are we in a better mood?" She asked, "you flew out of here pretty fast this morning" she sat on the couch "Annie thinks you hate her"
Adam sat opposite her, "I don't hate her, it just caught me off guard I guess" he ran his hand through his hair, "I get it, she saw a completely different side of my mother. A side I don't remember at all, I understand where she's coming from" he explained, "but I want nothing to do with my mother, my kids won't have anything to do with her either"
"I'm glad to hear that because I wasn't about to lose Annie again" Kim smiled, "you should call her, she's worried"
"Babe, will you get that?" Annie asked him, "I'm elbow deep in poop"
Derek laughed, "no problem"
"Hello?"
"Hey it's Adam, is my sister around?"
"She's changing Drew, how's it going?" He asked trying to get a feel for Adam's mood, "hang on here she comes now"
Derek handed her the phone, "your brother" he mouthed, taking Drew from her.
She sat on the couch, "hey Adam"
"Little sister, it's okay" he told her, "I shouldn't have stormed out this morning, it just caught me off guard. I understand your relationship with our mother is different from mine" he sighed, "I don't want my kids near her and I want nothing to do with her"
He could hear Annie sigh in relief, "You alright?"
Annie smiled, "I am now. I get it, and I understand"
"So, you're coming to dinner tomorrow night?"
"We will be there" she smiled, "I love you big brother"
"I love you too little sister, see you tomorrow"
"Everything good?" Kim asked him when he came in the bedroom.
"Yea, I invited them over for dinner tomorrow" he changed into a pair of shorts, "I'm exhausted, I swear sitting at a desk is more tiring than working a case" he laughed.
"You in?"
Declan closed the bag, "yea, I'm in" he threw it over his shoulder, "not gonna pass up a chance at this" he smirked.
"Good, just keep it on the DL" he told him, "the less people know the better"
"Got it, call me" Declan pushed the door open, "and I won't say a word"
"That's what I like to hear, a kid who can keep his mouth shut" he smiled, thankful to finally have found an in at the high school, everything was starting to fall into place.
