Yeah, that old list from 3 years ago that was in my random opinions book? I went ahead and redid it cuz I've discovered games since then that I would definitely include on a top 5 list

This was surprisingly a difficult list to remake, as I wasn't really sure what games would go in which spots, which games from the original list would stay on the new one, and which ones would be replaced.

5. Echoes+

Echoes+ is a free game on Steam that I started playing sometime last year. It's a bullethell space shooter that is difficult and addicting. You'll destroy all types of space objects like meteors, asteroids, black holes, and even the freaking sun! It's a fun challenge that I like coming back to every now and again to try and beat my score.

4. Mario Kart 8

Admittedly, I haven't played MK8 in a while, but I've been a fan of this installment for years ever since getting it while shopping on my birthday when I was like 14 or 15. I probably will play it again sometime, as I've been watching a lot of Mario Kart related videos on Youtube recently, and it's made me want to play it again. Anyway, it makes the list once again.

3. Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2

In the last list, I said that I like both games equally, so in this list, I'm putting them on the same spot. The Galaxy games remain some of my favorite 3d platformers on console, and I think they have aged very well.

2. Harvest Moon: Animal Parade

Still my favorite Harvest Moon title that I've played. I don't really have much to say about it, I've just been in the mood for these types of chill games recently.

Speaking of chill games...

1. Stardew Valley

As of writing this, Stardew Valley is the newest game I've started playing, and I. Am. Hooked. I only just bought this game on Steam a few days ago, but I've already played it for almost 30 hours total...yeah, I really like this one. Putting it high on the list just felt right.

In case you don't know, Stardew Valley is very similar to Harvest Moon in a lot of ways, which is part of why I enjoy it so much. A lot of the things you can do in Harvest Moon, you can do in Stardew Valley, such as fishing, mining, foraging, raising animals, and of course, farming. One of the only things Stardew Valley has that Harvest Moon doesn't is the inclusion of monsters in the mines. Similarly to how gases in the mines in Harvest Moon can either help or ruin your time, the monsters in the Stardew Valley mines makes mining a bit more dangerous, and can add some challenge, because sometimes floors in the mine will randomly be infested with lots of enemies.

When I first started playing Stardew Valley, I was genuinely impressed by how much you can customize your character. I thought the game would only let you pick from predetermined colors for hair, eyes, etc., but instead you get to use actual RGB, saturation and brightness sliders!

I started up a new save file to show off the customization menu you use when you start a new game.

I didn't watch any videos on Stardew Valley before playing it, so I was completely surprised by the customization menu when I first played.

So far my favorite thing to do has been exploring the mine and fighting monsters inside it. I'm also trying to get better at the fishing minigame, because I'm not that great at it.

Overall, Stardew Valley is a charming farm RPG that I highly recommend.

Honorable mentions

1982

1982 is a retro-styled shooter made by the same developers of Echoes+. Just like Echoes+, 1982 is a difficult game, but still an enjoyable one. I'm not sure which one of the two I would consider to be harder, but I feel like I usually get further in Echoes+ than in 1982. However, that could just be because I've played Echoes+ more, so I'm a bit more used to it.

Go Vacation

I'm not going to go on the same tangent about this game as I did 3 years ago. If you want to read 16-year-old me go on and on about this game, you can check out part 3 of my book "Cat's Random Opinions", where I talk about it.

Basically, Go Vacation is kind of like an open world adventure without a story. You can choose from a bunch of preset characters, but you can't customize them outside of their clothes and accessories, which is kind of disappointing, but not a huge deal. I've personally had a lot of fun with the game, and I have fond memories of first playing it when I was 9.

World of Magic (Roblox)

This list was strictly for games that weren't on Roblox, but I had to at least talk about this one as an honorable mention.

World of Magic is an open world RPG where you play as a wizard, and you can choose to be whatever kind of wizard you want. You can be a hero and help citizens of the world with side quests as well as defeat dark wizards, bandits, and various villains, or you can be an evil wizard and commit crimes, such as destroying buildings, killing heroes and even citizens, and stealing private inventory from chests while on the run from the Magic Council, which is basically the game's equivalent of police.

You can customize your character to look however you want, too.

I have had so much fun running around in this game. I haven't played it recently because my internet is very unpredictable, but I did enjoy it when I did play it.

Gacha Club(?)

Gacha Club is in a weird position for me. While it is technically a game, I consider it to be more of a kind of tool rather than an actual game. It does have a battle mode with a story, but most people probably don't play the Gacha games for the story anyway. The main focus is making your own characters and stories in Studio mode, not a card-based RPG with an...okay story. The story's not bad(I've certainly read(and written) worse), but it's not grand or really that exciting. It's just...okay.

Regardless, I still enjoy Gacha Club and Gacha Life. Just stay far the heck away from the weird parts of the community...lord's sake...

And there's my list! If I should try to make more top 5 lists, let me know what kind of lists you want to see! (Except for a top 5 favorite anime list because I haven't watched more than 5 anime yet XP)
