Flikies fly over the pleasant and picturesque countryside, with rolling hills and blue skies as far as the eye can see. The terrain is broadly flat, with many roads that wind through the landscape, leading to a distant horizon. The landscape consists of lush vegetation, tall grasses, bright flowers, and blooming trees. In the background, the mountains loom, providing a sense of scale and expense.

The area was perfect. A relaxing temperature sat in the air as a simple breeze flew through it. The draft would only be partly interrupted when an orange/red blur sped along an open road. The blur flew through multiple blushes before using its speed to destroy many large rocks in its way.

After destroying a larger stone, the blur stopped to reveal a black hedgehog with red stripes. Its red eyes coast the area as its glare remains high.

Soon, he's off again, destroying and smashing every rock or pebble around him. Skating around the area like an Olympic, he raced around like a bullet- eyes sharp and ears high.

As he destroys another large rock, a sudden green light fills his vision. The hedgehog winches and uses a gloved hand to cover his face before lowering it at the sight of a relatively oversized, green emerald floating a few feet off the ground. It emitted a slight glow and beckoned the black hedgehog closer with unknown energy.

"A Chaos Emerald." The ebony animal spoke, its voice gruff and deep. It picked up the emerald as an awarding smirk grew on its face. "There you are."

Holding the Chaos Emerald high, the hedgehog shouted, "Chaos Control!" before its body disappeared like it wasn't even there.

.

The hedgehog reappeared in a whole different area. It stood in the middle of a grassy plain, the warm sun on its skin and the wind in its fur. It let the moment wash over them, the peace and serenity of the environment a calming balm for his soul.

In the distance, it could make out a pink silhouette. The person sat on the picnic blanket; their eyes closed as they felt the sun's warmth on their skin. They took in the sights, sounds, and smells of the surrounding area, immersing themselves in the beauty of nature.

The hedgehog's forever frown twitched up into a fond smile. It walked to the person in the distance, making their once burry appearance more exact and able to make out.

They appeared to be a female cow. Their fur was strangely colored, with it being a bright pink fading down to emerald green, and their clothing consisted of a white, sleeveless, baggy turtleneck, a pair of (Favorite Color) Capris, and white and (Favorite Color) patterned boots.

The cow's green eyes scanned the surroundings. They occasionally would raise their hand on the ground to cast some bangs to the side. Eventually, their eyes landed on the black hedgehog approaching them, and they would let out a loud giggle as they stood up to meet the hedgehog halfway.

"Hey, Shadow!"

"Hello, (L/N)."

She latched onto his arm and pulled him toward the picnic blanket, where she sat him down next to a wooden, brown basket. "You made it!"

"Of course, I have nothing else to do anyway."

(Y/N) snickered, pulled some snacks from the picnic basket, and placed them around the blanket. She locked eyes with Shadow as she reached her hand out, which held five pieces of Sakura Mochi.

"Here! I made you some mochi!"

The hedgehog huffed. "As the Ultimate Lifeform, I have no reason to eat. You know this."

She tilted her to the right and pointed a finger at the animal in front of her. "Then why did you come?"

"I..."

Shadow could feel the blood rise to his face. His ruby eyes trailed to the ground and remained there.

"..."

The hedgehog was blushing and stuttering, his voice strained and his eyes unable to meet the cow's gaze. He tried to deny it, to pretend that nothing was going on, but the signs were clear as day. He was flustered, embarrassed, and struggling to keep it together in the face of (Y/N). It was a vulnerable moment that the figure wasn't accustomed to.

"I-... You just picked a good spot, that's all..."

(Y/N)'s head tilts to the side more. 'Is he alright? Did I do- Wait. Don't tell me...'

She took notice of his stuttering face and his averted eyes. His sweating head and his fingers were nervously tugging at his glove. She could see how anxious but comfortable he was- like he was being teased but enjoying it. She could even see his little tail swaying slowly behind him.

Her mind clicks, and she immediately begins to scream internally. 'AHHH! Shadow's flustered! He's so cute and flustered!' (Y/N)'s smile grows wider. 'And his little ears are tilted to the side! How cute!'

She shakes her head, clearing her mind, and offers him the mochi again. Despite his past refusals, he picks one up and pops it in his mouth. The cow chuckles but remains quiet as she devoured other packed snacks.

The two individuals sat on the picnic blanket. There was no need for words, for they were perfectly content in their silence. The soft rustling of leaves on the grass and the gentle chirping of flickies created a serene atmosphere. It was a peaceful moment, one of quiet and understanding, where the two animals could just be together; without the pressures of the outside world.

Suddenly, the hills began to rumble.

(Y/N) looked at the ground around her in confusion. Shadow's ear twitched as the flickies take flight from the grassy field. The earth was shaking, moving, and groaning in ways that made one's stomach churn. Frightened, (Y/N) stood up, kept her balance, and grabbed Shadow's shoulders. He took her hands off his shoulders and pulled her closer; ensuring she was close to her at all times.

"Shadow, look!" She pointed far off into the distance. He squinted his eyes and followed her gloved finger. Big and approaching fast, a beam of static light was making its way toward them at high speeds, and before they could run, it swallowed them whole.

The light was unrelenting, its power and destruction inescapable. But Shadow was determined, determined to protect (Y/N) at all costs. He pulled the cow close, shielding her body with his, doing whatever he could to keep the other safe.

'...What is this..?'

(Y/N) was struggling to catch her breath, her body shaking with each harsh intake of air. Her breaths were short and quick, her heart racing, and her mind overwhelmed.

"Awh, poor thing..."

'Who is that?'

She was hyperventilating. It wasn't the first time she had this physical response to intense stress. Her emotions manifested fast, shallow breaths and a sensation of air hunger many times before... But this seemed way worse than the others.

"Forgive me, Prim..."

'Why do they sound like me?'

It was a terrifying experience, one that left her feeling overwhelmed and out of control.

"Ye be so strange, hedgehog...'

'What..?'

Slowly, her vision began to return. The light had passed over them like a wave; leaving them standing there confused and shaken.

The cow was finally starting to catch her breath, the hyperventilation finally subsiding, albeit slowly.

(Y/N)'s breaths were still shallow and fast, her heart pumping like a jackhammer, but it was getting better. She was recovering, slowly but surely, and it was a relief. She had been through so much, but she was strong, she was resilient, and she would make it through this. One breath at a time.

The pink and green cow noticed someone was calling her name in worry. She turned her head toward Shadow and released a shaky sigh as she took her time to get to her feet. He seemed hesitant as his friend still seemed to be mentally out of it- but let her do so.

"Are you alright, (Y/N)?"

"Yes, I... Gosh, my head hurts." (Y/N) grumbled as she rubbed her tinder head. Her mind was still slightly fuzzy, but she knew she could manage.

"Sonic must be behind this." Shadow glared in the direction the light came from. He placed his hand on (Y/N)'s back and guided her toward a rock to sit down. There, she placed her head in her hands and let out a deep, exhausted sigh. The hedgehog beside her looked at her with pity as his hand rubbed up and down her hunched back. "Do you want me to guide you home?"

She shook her head. "No, I need to go see where that came from. Tails might know."

"Alright. I'll go confront that faker. I know just where he'd be."

(Y/N) sweatdropped at the thought of Shadow beating Sonic's ass... again.

Shadow stood from the rock and turned away from the cow. He squatted into a ready position, but he was suddenly stopped when (Y/N) call for him. The hedgehog turned around to see his friend standing behind him, arms spread out and tail wagging.

"Goodbye hug?"

"..." Shadow huffed in annoyance but approached her arms.

(Y/N) wrapped her arms around the other animal, holding him close in a tight hug. "Alright, that's enough." Shadow struggled, trying to push her off, but the cow just held on tighter, refusing to let go. The hedgehog pretended to not like the hug, his face red and embarrassed, but deep down, he enjoyed the warmth and softness of the embrace.

Soon, she let go, and Shadow could feel the afternoon air cool his body down. He turned away once more and muttered a small, "See you later," before he took off.

.

(Y/N) was flying through Green Hills, her footsteps light and swift. Her breath was measured and controlled, her heart racing- but in a good way. The rush of adrenaline, the sense of freedom, it was exhilarating, it was addictive. The hills were a sea of green, the trees and foliage dancing around her, the animals and flickies singing their songs, it was a spectacle to behold. The teen was in her element, and she was having the time of her life.

But, she had no time for that. She had to find Tails.

Whisking through the fields, (Y/N) kept her green eyes sharp and her nose open. She knew he must've seen the large beam of light too so there was no doubt the smart fox was nearby.

Her ear flicked and she stopped immediately. 'I swore I heard something crashing...' She turned to the left and then the right before doing a whole 360. 'Was my ears playing tricks on me?'

Turns out they were not.

In the distance, (Y/N) could make out Amy demolishing large robots with her heavy Piko Hammer. She picks up speed, unsheaths her pink Nichirin blade, and takes a deep breath. "Koi no kokyΕ« (Love Breathing)..."

Amy was fighting, exchanging blow after blow with different robots. But then, without warning, one of the hedgehog's attacks missed, and she was suddenly knocked to the ground. She lay there, winded and disoriented, as a large robot loomed over them, victorious. "Ni no kata (Second Form):..."

The robot opened its jaw, preparing to bite down on the injured, pink hedgehog. Despite her body stinging from the impact, Amy stood to defend herself to the best of her abilities.

"Ōnō Meguru Koi!"

Amy looked up. One second ago, the robot was attacking. Now, it was being cut at multiple angles, like a piece of meat being prepared for dinner. The sound of grinding metal and tearing wires filled the air, the sight of sparks and smoke filling the hedgehog's vision. The robot soon dropped to the ground, completely destroyed.

"Amy!" (Y/N) dropped by her side in an instant. Her eyes were filled with worry before they widen at the sudden, crushing hug. "(Y/N)! You're here!" (Y/N) hugged back and let out a cheerful laugh when Amy swung her around in a circle.

Another person landed by the girls' side and invited themselves into the hug. "Well, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in." The cow squealed when she locked eyes with the white bat. "Rouge!" The said bat woman chuckled and squeezed (Y/N)'s cheek jokingly. "As cute as ever, (Y/N)."

The cow was wrapped in the arms of her two best friends, surrounded by their love and affection, before a childish voice rang out from above. "Oh, hey, (Y/N)!"

"Hi, Tails! I was just looking for you!" (Y/N) ran from the comfort of her friends to hug the fox, causing them to huff in disappointment.

"I wish she would look for me..." Rouge nodded and gave the sulking Amy a reassuring pat on the back.

"O-Oh? Why were you looking for me?" Tails remained still as (Y/N) played with his ears. "Did you see that big light?? It came at me like WHOSH! I almost blacked out!" Her hands went from his ears to moving all around. She was making a bunch of different expressions that, sometimes, had nothing to do with what she was talking about.

Tails snickered and gave a brief explanation of the situation.

"Alright, so find Dr. Eggman, figure out what he's up to, and stop it." (Y/N) nodded at the plan. "I like it. Let's do it!" She runs toward more robots with her sword out and ready. She runs to Knuckles's side, gives him a quick side hug, and slashes more robots with ease.

(Y/N)'s muscles tensed, their fists curled, and their mind focused. She was committed to winning, to proving her strength, and to protecting her friends. But then, as suddenly as a bolt of lightning, the cow started to black out.

"I will never hold anything against you."

'Not again.'

The world around her warped and twisted, the colors became vivid and vibrant, and the sounds became distorted.

"Wait, Rose!"

It was as though she had been transported to another world, one where the laws of physics and reality no longer applied.

"'e doesn't deserve me pity, Landlover."

(Y/N) stumbled and tripped, her body suddenly weak and unsteady. She would have hit the ground if not for the strong arms that caught her halfway. As the hallucination slowly melted away, the woman was left with a sense of unease, a feeling that something was not right. She reluctantly rose and got out of whoever's arms to get a sense of her surroundings.

The cow opened her eyes wider and found herself in a dark, musty cave. Taking a reluctant sniff, her nose scrunched from the harsh smell of stale and mildewed. It was clear that she was in a strange and unfamiliar place, one that was far from home.

"(Y/N)?"

She turned around, her green eyes locked with a brighter pair. (Y/N) didn't have to take another look to know that the person standing in front of her was Sonic the Hedgehog, her first English friend. He wore a worried expression as his hands reached out to catch her if she were to fall once more.

"Are you alright?"

"... Huh- I meanβ€” uh, yes. I'm okay."

"Are you sure?" Sonic places a hand on her shoulder, his head tilted slightly to the side to see her full face.

"Yes. Yes, I'm sure."

He nodded and let her go. (Y/N) sunk to the floor and rubbed her sore head as Sonic went to fight whatever opponent approached them. She felt so sick, nauseous, tired... and hungry. Very hungry. With all this action tugging on her, (Y/N) could tell she'll be out when she hits her bed, but she knew she had to finish this fight to go home.

She couldn't wait to go home.

Joining the battle, the cow was right back to Sonic's side; destroying whatever was in their way.

Sonic, while still fighting, turned 75% of his attention to her. "Love the outfit, by the way."

"EEEE THANK YOU!" (Y/N) squealed and brought her hands to her cheeks. She hopped up and down before taking her hands off her face and crushing a robot with her bare hands.

"Heh, no problem! Why are you so dressed up anyway?"

"Oh, Shadow and I went on a picnic earlier today!"

The hedgehog lets out an agitated huff before spin-dashing into three nearby machines. He looked around for more enemies as something began to form in his stomach. It was a strange sensation, a feeling of jealousy and possessiveness that he had never experienced before. He wanted to be the one having small picnics with her, the one receiving their attention. It was a frustrating and uncomfortable feeling, one that left the hedgehog feeling frustrated and angry. He knew that he had no right to feel jealous, that his friend was free to be with whoever they wanted. But still, the feeling persisted; a bitter taste that threatened to cloud everything else.

"Duck!" Quickly out of his thoughts, Sonic squatted to the ground. (Y/N) swung her sword and destroyed the Beebot trying to get him from behind. As she returned her sword to her side, she flashed Sonic a sweet smile.

Sonic lovingly sighed from his position on the floor. It was a moment that would forever be imprinted on his memory, a moment that he would replay in his mind over and over again. The cow's smile was like a ray of sunshine, like a burst of joy, like a million rainbows. It was infectious, it was beautiful, it was everything that the teen had ever wanted.

Screw what he just said earlier. He knew he and her had something better than what she had with Shadow.

"Sonic!" He was quickly by (Y/N)'s side. His face held a questioning smileβ€” completely ignoring the five robots she beheaded at once. "You need to stop Dr. Eggman! That prism may be dangerous and he could hurt himself!"

"Stop Eggface because he's dangerous and could hurt us! On it!"

"No, Sonic, I said–" The blue blur sped off half-hazardously toward the prism.

"No! Wait! Don't touch it!"

He spin-dashed straight towards it, completely disregarding his friends' shouting.

"Sonic! No!"

.

"One day, I'll be able to destroy that hedgehog and the world will be a brighter place for it!"

.

"As long as I'm around, you'll always have a wingman!"

.

"The forest is the most beautiful place on Earth!"

.

"I don't need the details, just tell me who to smash!"

.

"You may not like the way I do things, but I get things done."

.

"I'm... I'm glad you like my fur color, Sonic. That means a lot to me."
