It swirled, ebbing and flowing.
Almost like water, the smoke travelled away from her, just like the river flowing downstream below.
The smoke kept flowing along the untouched walls of the cave that resided, deep underground.
And then down.
The starlit mist followed the water as it descended into a waterfall of roaring silence, tumbling
down,
down,
down.
It kept going- deeper than any rabbit hold she had ever encountered.
Never ending.
Unyielding.
She hesitated,
For a singular moment.
Before tipping herself over the edge, falling with the tide into the darkness.

The water was an unfamiliar cold, its chill seeping into the very essence of her bones, drenching her soul, and yet she remained dry on the outside, as if the water was nothing but a ghost, haunting her thoughts.
She gripped the rocks, their sharp edges biting at her flesh whilst she tried to gain leverage against the raging currents.
Hauling herself onto the black earth, she struggled to her feet, the salt-like grains burying into her wounds,
But she kept pushing.
Onwards she walked, deeper into the cavern than any had travelled before.
She could sense it. She would be the first to reach the end. To lay her secrets.
So that when the time came, she could return,
Her sister could return,
Their Queen would return.
And they would rule as they once had.
So she kept walking, knowing these steps would be her last.
She kept walking, knowing her legacy would live on.
