——Y/n (Your) POV!——
I watched Eric dematerialize in front of me as I pulled my phone away from my ear and pretended I 'hang up'. I took a deep breath and looked at the people who were staring at me. The girls seemed heavily concerned, so did Jake. I glanced down at the floor in slight shame.
Brooke walked up to me and held my shoulders. "Oh my god sweetie, are you okay? What happened?" She asked in an extremely worried tone.
I gave her a weak smile and wiped my tears. "I- Uh- I got into a bit of a fight with a friend, and it just got a, um," I glanced at the floor again. "A little out of hand."
Brooke nodded as Chloe then approached me. "You sure you're okay though? You were screaming and yelling a lot, so you sure?" Chloe asked, worried for me.
I finally gave them a real, full smile and nodded. "Yeah, sorry 'bout that," I admitted. Brooke and Chloe nodded. I looked behind them for Jake, but he was already gone... Guess he thought that Chloe and Brooke would handle it.
"We're gonna leave you with your thoughts, we're gonna be on the couch, so you're welcome to join us when you're ready," Chloe said with a smile.
I grinned back and nodded, and so they left. I leaned on the wall to process what just happened. I was alone with my thoughts...
"Well, that happened," Rich said. I looked to the left to see him sitting down in a chair sipping coffee. Nope, not alone.
I rubbed my arm. "Did you see all of that?" I asked.
"I slipped in around the time that Jeremy's Squip got all touchy with you." He said. "Which was really weird by the way."
I weakly smiled at him and closed my eyes. "I know right, Jer's Squip really creeps me out," I admitted.
"So I'm not the only one who thinks that?" Rich said, slightly amused. "Cause you're so right, he's so weird and creepy..." Rich said.
I shook my head. "You're not the only one." I lightly chuckled.
There was silence in the air. It was a mix of comfortable silence and awkward silence, I hated it but didn't mind it at the same time.
Rich finally spoke up. "You know, Eric's just trying to help, he really cares about you, ya know." He said.
I scoffed and looked off. "Please, he's only programmed to care about me."
Rich laughed. "Do you seriously believe that?" I nodded. "Wow! No no no no, Squip's can act however they want to act, in fact, my and Jer's Squip and kind of jerks..." He spoke out.
I looked around him. "Speaking of which, where is your Squip?" I asked.
Rich shrugged and pointed to his forehead. "In here, he's just going through stuff and helping me right now."
"I'm surprised he didn't shock you when you said that he's a jerk." I chuckled.
Rich looked at me in a confused way. "Does your Squip only shock you?" He asked.
I raised my eyebrow curiously. "What do you mean 'only' shock...?" I asked.
Rich's eyes widened in an astonished yet amusing way. "Ho. Ly. Shit!"
"What?"
Rich pushed himself off the chair and laughed. "Do you think that a simple shock is the only way that the Squips can hurt you?"
I lightly laughed. "I'm starting to think otherwise."
"Squips can also send you a massive sharp pain through your skull along with making it feel like your body is either freezing or boiling..." Rich explained. Has he suffered through all of those things...? "But it seems evident that he cares too much about you to do all of those things to you..."
I was mildly- no I was definitely shocked! Almost every time he zapped me I thought he was being cruel, but he literally could have done so much worse... Does he seriously care about me?
"Why am I so stupid- he's been so kind to me and all I've done is just argue and make it worse for him..." I said aloud. "How could he still be so kind after I'm such a prick?" I asked myself.
Rich smirked. "Maybe he loooves youuuuu?" Rich suggested, violently wiggling his eyebrows.
I thought about it for a moment. Does he...? "Nah, he's a computer. I'm pretty sure that's not possible." I said.
"But caring for you is possible?" Rich asked. "It's whatever, but really, he really wants the best for you and he obviously cares about you, so just, say sorry when he gets back?" Rich suggested.
I smiled at Rich. "Look at you, being all sentimental and shit," I lightly punched his shoulder.
"C'mon man, I'm just trying to help ya." He chuckled. "Alright, ad much as is really like ya, I'm gonna go sit down with the others, kay?"
I smiled at him. "Yeah, I'll come join you guys in a minute or two," I said.
Rich nodded, and then he left. He really is a good guy...
——Rich's POV!——
Why can't Y/n see that Eric is painfully in love with her? He looks at her like she's his entire world.
Wait, no, the real question is why and how did she get in a fight with Eric so easily? It wasn't even a fight, it was more just Y/n yelling at Eric... Is she on her period or something?
Whatever the reason may be, I really wanna see where Eric's little crush will go... Maybe I should spike Y/n's drink with whiteout or something.
"Don't be an ass." My Squip groaned.
"But it's so much fun..." I replied.
My Squip crossed its arms at me. "I regret ever telling you what certain Mountain Dews do..." it shook its head.
I lazily swatted my hand at my Squip. "Come oooonn, how can you not be intrigued by this?" I asked it. "A supercomputer and a human? Just imagine the fanfictions..."
"Rich, what was one of the things I told you never to do?"
I sighed. "To never break the fourth wall...?"
"To stop breaking the fourth wall. Author~Chan is too poor to afford a fourth wall for us to break after a certain time." My Squip lectured.
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever, but seriously-"
"Yes Rich, I too wish to see how this plays out. Now. Back to you."
I groaned as I walk over to join the rest of my friends.
——Y/n (Your) POV!——
Jesus, why do I have to be such a terrible person? Eric is only trying to help, but I just keep pushing him away, I'm just making his job a hundred times harder.
But... then again, if I'm just complicating his job, then why has he only been shocking me...? If what Rich said is true, then Eric is being incredibly caring and nice towards me...
But why?
I pressed my back on the wall and ran my hands through my hair as I glanced around the room. Nobody is in here... should I bring him back...?
I stared at the clock on the stove, although I didn't even pay any attention to read what time it was.
I mean like, it hasn't been long, but I do miss him, and I just feel terrible... So, should I?
God, I'm pretty damn pathetic, aren't I? I'm stressing over a damn, fricking-frack of a computer.
Why do I even call him that?
No, not the fricking-frack part-
The computer part...
I guess he is technically a computer, he's a pill that I took, he's just a bunch of ones and zeroes. But he doesn't feel like a computer to me.
He's a sweet guy who just wants to help me, a normal computer is only programmed to, but he's made it incredibly clear that he wants to help me, that he's not just doing it because he's bound to his code.
I feel absolutely horrible- Oh my god, I'm literally just going into the same loop over and over again.
I shook my head and pushed myself off the wall. It took me a slight moment to decide what to do next, but I then just walked over to where everyone else was on the couch.
"Hey guys, sorry about that..." I nervously chuckled.
Brooke waved her arms at me. "No no no no no! It's totally fine and understandable!" She smiled at me. "You've been going through a lot these past couple of days, so it's one hundred percent okay." She reassured.
I smiled and nodded. Everyone else agreed and Jake even offered for me to sit right next to him as they watch Tv- which I gladly accepted.
I sat down to the right of Jake. I was kinda sitting in a way that my body was a little off to the side, so Jake took that opportunity to grab my legs and place them in between his man spread. It was very unusual, but I will admit that it was fairly comfortable.
"So, what do you guys wanna watch?" Rich asked as he picks up the remote. "Y/n? Got any ideas?" He looked at me with a playful smirk.
"How about [Favorite Show], I think you guys would find it cool," I recommend. I saw Chloe's ears seem to perk up as if she already watched that show.
I wiggled my eyebrows at her and she smiled. "Yeah, I've watched a couple of episodes, it's fairly good." She nervously chuckled at me.
I smirked as Rich turned it on. God, I'm going to poison these children with my fandoms. >:3
~Time Skip~
Rich took a running start and practically kicked our psychology's classroom doors open. We were 20 minutes late which I knew Ms. Hawkins would yell at us for.
Rich and I walking into the classroom and just stopped right after we walked through the door. Ms. Hawkins looked at us with pure envy and just lazily waved at us. "Just take your seats..." She grumbled.
Rich looked at me and slightly nudged my shoulder as he and I sat down next to each other near some kinda popular kids. "See? Like I told ya, these teachers don't care when you're late if you're popular." Rich said.
I slightly nodded. "I never said I didn't believe you, and yeah," I glanced around. "It's kinda nice." I smiled at him.
Ms. Hawkins scoffed at us. "Rich, Y/n, can you both please stop talking?" She asked with attitude.
Rich leaned in his chair. "Ms. Hawkins, can you please shut up? I'm trying to have a conversation here." Rich asked back with even more attitude.
Everyone else laughed and hollered at Rich.
"Join in on the fun."
I grinned at his voice. "Eric! Listen, I'm so sorry about everything-"
"Shh," he cut me off. "I know... I know..." his voice sounded alone and desperate. "Just, focus on yourself and join in on Rich's ruckus."
I nodded and plastered a big smirk along my lips. "Listen, we're asking you nicely: Shut the hell up." I grinned.
Ms. Hawkins glared at me. "Are you talking back to me?"
I rolled my eyes in amusement. "I do believe that is how a conversation works, yes."
"I don't have to hear you speak to me in such a way!" She yelled.
Alright. "I also don't have to be here 5 times a week for 6 hours every day, but hey, at least you're getting paid," I said back. "So suck it up, or is that not part of your paycheck? You wanted to teach children, your decision makes it your fault." I said. When I said all that, I swear, a huge weight got lifted off my shoulders. The amount of time that I've wanted to say that is insane.
Ms. Hawkins looked at me. She clearly didn't have anything to say about that. Everyone else began hollering at me, wooing and screaming out how what I said was awesome and too accurate.
Ms. Hawkins buzzed and turned her backs to us, cursing under her breath.
Rich poked my side. "Ha! That was awesome as hell!" He complimented. "Maybe you didn't even need that Squip, you just needed to bust outa your shell!" He exclaimed.
I smiled, but, even though I couldn't see him, those words hurt Eric.
"Y/n, it's okay, I'm fi-ne." Eric glitched. "I- er... uh..." He stuttered. My eyebrows curved in a worried way.
"Eric-"
"It's fine, I'm just a little sad, it'll go away in a minute or two..." Eric admitted. He didn't glitch so, that's good.
I glanced away. "Yeah, I'm just-"
"Worried, it's okay," Eric said warmly. "I know, just, focus on class and your peers." He redirected me.
I nodded and looked at Rich who appeared to be openly digging something out of his teeth with a fingernail. I looked at the rest of the table. Two girls and two guys. One of the girls had light brown hair, almost blondish, the other girl had dark curly hair. One of the guys had light blonde hair and the other had dark brown hair. They seemed to just be looking at the two of us as if we were superiors.
I decided to strike a conversation. "So, Ms. Hawkins is rubbish at teaching this class." I groaned.
The four of them perked up. The girls with brown curly girl opened her mouth to speak. "Yeah, I know right?" She smirked and glanced off for a moment. "I mean, like, if you're gonna teach a class, then teach one, don't spend half the class yelling at us." She chuckled. It was obvious that she was nervous. She was hesitating with her words and kept looking away. "I'm Maddie." She introduced.
"Cool, I'm Y/n," I said.
The blonde girl giggled. "Yeah, we know." She laughed. "Addison." She announced.
"Liam." The blonde boy said.
"Nathan." The dark-haired boy said.
I smiled at them. We continued our conversation about this garbage class until the class ended. I said goodbye to the people I spoke with and I walked out with Rich.
"So, You barely spoke that class." Rich teased.
I lightly punched his side. "Alright cut it out, I get it: I wouldn't shut up."
"Haha!" Jake ran into our conversation. "How's my girl?" He asked, briefly running his hand through my hair.
"It's going, fine, how about you?" I replied.
Jake put his arms behind his head and leaned back a bit. "Eh, same shit, different day." He complained.
I laughed, and with that came Chloe and Brooke. We all started talking about stuff as we slowly made our way to the cafeteria for lunch.
I slightly strayed away from the group. "Hold on, gimme a minute to go grab my Chipotle that I got for lunch," I said. They nodded, but they just followed me, not leaving my side. Which I thought was really cute and nice.
I reached my locker and fished in my bag for my Chipotle, the rest of them hung out by the lockers near mine as I grabbed my food. It would have been a quick and easy trip, but it was abruptly brought to a halt by someone who I would typically be ecstatic to see.
"Hey, Y/n, can I talk to you...?" His voice asked.
I clutched my bag of Chipotle and looks at him nervously. "Michael, why should I after what happened? After what you said to me?" I asked back.
Michael looked ashamed. "Listen just- please?" He pleaded.
I looked back at the guys. Brooke was the only one paying attention, and she ushered me to go talk to him, although she too seemed nervous about the whole situation.
I sighed and looked back at Michael. "You have 5 minutes," I said as I dragged him off and away from my group.
When the two of us were far enough away, that's when he spoke. "Listen, I know I made a mistake... Earlier today, Jeremy finally talked to me, only to confirm my suspensions of him having a Squip, but then he ignored me not even a second later..." Michael admitted. He seemed desperate, he yearned for Jeremy. He looked back up at me with a slight glimmer of hope in his eyes. "But I know how to fix it! How to get Jermey back to normal! How- how to fix this whole situation..."
"I have a bad feeling about this..." Eric said.
"You and me both..." I admitted.
Michael took a step towards me and pulled out a bottle of red liquid from his bag. "This! Mountain Dew Red! It will help us with the Squips!" He announced.
"Wasn't that discontinued in the 90s...?" I hesitatingly asked.
"Well, Yeah, but that's one of the things which makes it so awesome!" Michael geeked out. "Anyway, just," Michael handed me the bottle. "Just drink it! It will help!" He convinced.
I looked at the bottle. "Y/n, please, whatever you do, do NOT drink that!" Eric demanded.
"What does it do, Eric?"
Eric materialized in front of me, probably not in his psychical form. He looked like he ran his hand through his hair a million times due to stress. His eyes were heavy, his face was paler, and his eyes kept wandering until they finally met mine.
Eric's face scrunched up as if he was scared of what was about to happen. Eric nervous fidgeted with the hemming of his dress shirt but quickly stopped.
Eric's glowing eyes stared longingly into mine, there was a sort of beauty to them. Like a sparkle that only he has.
Eric opened his mouth, trembling, he said,
"It practically kills me."
