This is a maze runner themed imagine.
You woke up frightened. You couldn't remember anything about your life. You couldn't even remember your name. You had no idea where you were.
Then you noticed a boy with dirty blonde hair looking at you. When he noticed you were awake, he looked at you with care.
"I know you're scared and confused, but I assure you'll be okay. My name is Newt."
"Where are we?"
"Well, we're in what we call the Glade. Where it is? Dunno. None of us know where we really are. None of us know who we are other than our names. None of us can remember anything. The Glade is all we have, and your our first girl greenie."
You looked to him in confusion, but he didn't seem to notice.
"Let's get you up yeah? I'll show you around."
You decided you didn't have much of a choice. He seemed nice, but you felt like he was going to make you get up regardless. He took your hand and helped you up.
"Good. Now try to walk."
You began to walk, and you had to ask him a question. "What happened to me? Can I not properly walk?"
"You can still walk, but when you got here, you passed out from hyperventilation. I'm taking you to get some food before I show you around the Glade."
You nodded happy to know nothing severe happened. Newt sat you down at a long, large table. He told you he would be back shortly. While you waited, you looked around. There were a few boys at other tables eating and talking together. A few would glance at you, but you would end up looking at your hands.
"I hope you like tomato soup." He placed down a bowl and cup of water.
After you ate, Newt showed you around the Glade and told you rules. He said you were going to have to work eventually, and he would help you figure out where you belonged.
While you were walking around, you noticed a boy waking out of the woods. You stopped Newt and turned it in the direction of the boy.
"Newt, who's that?"
"Oh... He's.... well I don't know who he is. I don't even know if he talks. He also was one of the first ones here. When he came up from the box, he just stared at us all. We did everything I'm doing for you, but he never responded. He still hasn't told us his name. He's a good chap. He always does his work, but he just prefers to be alone. He works with us track-hoes."
"Have you or anyone else tried to talk to him anymore?" You qukestioned.
"Yes, but he still doesn't respond. I think he just needs some sort of hope. Maybe you can get to him because I really think he can hear. I think he can speak. I just think whatever we all went through, he got it worse."
While Newt was talking, you continued to look at the somewhat mysterious guy. You quit looking when he made eye contact with you. He didn't seem intimidating, but you just didn't want to stare to long.
You decided to speak again to get your mind thinking of something else. "So, I was thinking maybe I could work with you and the others."
He stopped and smiled, "Well I'm honored, but are you sure you don't want to try out other jobs in the maze?"
"No. I don't feel like dying from running. I don't feel like throwing up from looking at blood. Gally and his henchmen freak me out. I'm not sure if I want to cook for a lot of people. I don't know."
"Is this because of him." Newt smirked.
"Maybe. Besides, you said I might be able to get him to talk. Working with him is the best way to do that. I won't be able to see him much if I had another job. Plus, I don't feel like being thrown into the maze or pit."
"Valid points. Alright then, I'll go tell Alby. I want you to try and remember your name okay?"
"Sure thing boss." You giggled. He just rolled his eyes as he walked away.
You assumed you could walk around while you waited. You also thought about the party Newt said they'd be throwing tonight. You also tried to remember your name, but you couldn't think of it yet.
There weren't many boys at all. It seemed like this was just the start of something that was going to happen. Wherever you were, it didn't feel right, but you knew nothing could be done about it.
You looked at the flowers that were growing in the gardens and touched the petals. "These are beautiful. Did you plant them?"
You turned around and were met with the mystery guy. He didn't say anything, but he just looked at you in curiosity. "Well if you did, you did a wonderful job."
He still didn't respond. "I hope I can remember my name soon. Does it take long, remembering your name?"
He shook his head, which you consider progress. "So what's your name?"
He shrugged and you frowned. "It's easy for everyone else, but you still haven't gotten your name."
He nodded looking down. Your heart began to hurt for him. "I... I'm sorry. I" You were going to finish your sentence, but the boy already left.
"There you are. Alby agreed to let you work with my group, but you'll start work tomorrow. Now it's time to celebrate." Newt laughed and wrapped his arm around your shoulder.
A fire was already blazing and boys were talking and making music. You couldn't help but feel like dancing. Your feet were already moving and you danced to the beat. You heard boys whistle, but you didn't care. Then you froze and opened your eyes.
"Y/n. My name is y/n." You smiled.
You heard your name being spoken, and boys lift you up in the air. You giggled and Newt just rolled his eyes. Then you noticed the boy staring at you. You couldn't read his emotions. He left before you could get down.
Once you were placed down, you ran off in his direction. "Hey, Hey, wait."
He stopped, but you didn't realize until you ran right into him. He caught you before you could fall. You couldn't help but blush before he helped you stand back up.
"Thanks... I um... I'm sorry about running into you. I'm sorry that these parties probably aren't your thing. How about we just walk around the woods?"
He looked to you and smiled nodding. You were happy he smiled. You began to walk with him, and you were glad it wasn't too dark out.
"I know you probably don't want me to talk about it, but have you tried to do anything to trigger your name?"
He shook his head no. "Okay, well maybe we should do stuff to trigger it. I just wonder what would trigger it. For me it was dancing, but I'm not sure that's you're thing."
"Maybe it is."
Your eyes went wide and you smiled. "You talked. You really talked." Then you jumped up and down.
"Yes I did." He laughed.
"Why for me though?" You questioned.
"You're persistent. I could tell you weren't going to give up on me until I said something."
"Makes sense." You smiled. "So does this mean you actually know your name?"
"No. I've tried everything I could think of to get it back. I've even tried some of the things other Gladers have done. It's almost been two years and nothing." He sighed.
Then you thought of an idea. "Why don't you just make yourself a new one until you can get back your old one?"
"You think that would be okay?" He looked back to you.
"I don't see why not."
"Well then what should my name be?" He questioned.
"Hmm.... What about Bucky."
"Bucky? I've never heard that name before. You know what, I think I like it."
"Bucky it is then. You know what's cool about this? We both got our names on the same day."
"Look at that. Finally someone who makes some sense here." You noticed him take off a necklace. "Here, I want you to have this. I'm assuming it was my ma's, but it's mine now. I want you to have it."
"I can't." You shook your head, but he already put it over your head.
"To late sweetheart. Now let's get you back to your party." He smirked.
"Our party, yeah."
"Sure."
You couldn't believe how easy that was, but you were glad that he finally spoke and had a name he could go by.
Maybe this wouldn't be as bad as you thought it would be.
I hope you enjoyed that. This was the hundredth one. Thank you all for reading this far, and I look forward to more imagines.
Thanks Bucky's plums.
