Diya got up as she heard her phone ringtone. She picked it up. Nisha’s name flashed on the screen. Nisha had already informed Diya that they were meeting in the evening. They are going to have a night walk.
Diya was about to interrupt and deny it. But Nisha stopped her, “Diya, please don’t argue. We need you.” Diya heard a beep sound. She stared at the phone for a few minutes.
Diya sat down on the balcony cocoon swing. She pondered. After what had happened yesterday… how can I go without informing, Nishanth? Now the most... important thing is… what had pushed Nishanth to this stage of anger and depression? … he losses his control and behaves like a beast.
Diya brought her knee to her chest and hugged herself tightly as she remembered the scene that happened yesterday night. Every word he spoke made her think and realize how much he cared for her.
The other part of me wants to think about what he had lost or faced to push him into this deep hole that he tries hard to recover from it. I feel… now that he had hidden the biggest... secret from me in his life. Why didn’t I notice this before and ask him? I can’t ask Parvathi maa about this. He should tell me by himself. He needs someone to take care of him now… in this stage of life…
Diya planned to confront him later. But she thought to inform him now about the meet-up with the friends.
Diya called Nishanth. But Rishab picked up the mobile and said, “Ma’am... Nishanth sir is in the meeting.” So she ended the call.
Diya couldn’t deny her friend's request as she knew the state that they were in for now.
She was contemplated. Now… what should I do? I can’t go against Nishanth… knowing that he does it with care for me… but I’ll never leave out my soul sisters in this situation. Why should my idiot husband behave like that whenever I reach home after meeting my friends?
Diya's inner self taunted. It’s not about meeting your friends… it’s about the time and place that... you guys choose to meet up.
Diya realized. Yeah… we’ve always planned for nighttime. But this time I surely need to go. They need me.
Diya decided to go with her friends. She got ready in the evening and met her friends.
Nishanth got a call from Charles when he was driving back to the mansion. He attended the call from Charles and said, “Which club today?” Charles gave the details and ended the call.
Armaan was also in another private room in the same club where Charles was drinking. Armaan didn’t have any close friends except one. He was his only family. But now, he was somewhere... that Armaan couldn’t reach.
Until he decides to live. At least he can’t meet him… until he has the responsibility to take... care of Derek. So he flipped his phone and finally found Nishanth's number. He dialed it.
Nishanth was amused to see his call. He attended and questioned, “Hello… Mr. Armaan Devansh. Are you calling me to discuss any of our cooperation matters? I’m a bit busy now… with my friend.”
Armaan Devansh slurred, “Can you accompany me today? Now… for an hour?”
Nishanth could recognize the state of Armaan, “Where?” Armaan Devansh voiced out the place. Nishanth started chuckling.
Armaan Devansh questioned, “What happened?”
“I am coming there to see one of my friends. I am on the way. Can you go to his private room? I’ll be there sometime,” said Nishanth. Armaan Devansh agreed to it.
Armaan Devansh and Charles both were in a private room. Both of them were drinking and... many bottles on the floor.
Nishanth entered the room. He saw Armaan... who was taking a sip of champagne in his hand. Charles was sleeping on the couch as a full drunk.
Nishanth smiled at Armaan, and he smiled back at seeing him. He thanked Armaan for his help. Armaan chuckled with emotional pain.
Nishanth could see him mourning silently. He saw Armaan with enduring pain, which he was trying hard to keep to himself.
Armaan’s hard hold on his glass drink explains the rigid life he is facing now.
Armaan asserted, “Though Diya is younger than me, she is like my elder sister who was once with me. Diya... reminds me a lot of her. I know we haven’t spoken to each other. But Diya's attitude makes me think of my sister. My sister meant a lot to me. She was the only woman I had in my life. Diya is also a sister to me, Nishanth. So I must save my sister… when she is in trouble.”
Nishanth was shocked to hear the emotional side of Armaan. I never thought that... Armaan would share such emotions with anyone except his son. And seriously… does he think... of Diya as his sister? What happened to his sister? And he had never revealed anything about his family to the media. Nor do I think he has any friends for him… Now I can’t take any advantage of him in this situation… I shouldn’t peep into life because he is opening to me. But the selfish part of me... wants to know what happened because of Magadhi’s life.
Nishanth walked to Charles and kicked him with his leg to wake him up. Armaan had a pinch of jealousy as he looked at the bonding of Nishanth and Charles.
Charles got up and started crying, “Nisha slapped me and told me she would not love me anymore. And there is no kind of relationship. Strangers… she said that she is a stranger to me… What can I do?”
Nishanth nodded and replied, “We’ll talk about this later!!!”
Nishanth sat on the sofa and reached out to take one glass of drink. He questioned Armaan, “What about you? Is it Magadhi who is bothering your heart?”
Armaan Devansh was serene because he knew it would reach Nishanth through Diya. So he nodded his head.
Nishanth added, “What’s the problem, bro? What happened has happened!!! You can’t change anything. It was fate that Derek’s mom had to die. You didn’t mean to kill her. It was an accident. You should be happy that you have your son with you. Your wife has left your son for you.”
In the last words of Nishanth, Armaan threw the glass on the wall that broke into pieces. This act of Armaan made Nishanth shocked. Charles looked up as he heard the sound.
Armaan Devansh spoke out about the life that... he had buried in his heart to Nishanth. Nishanth was thrilled to hear everything.
Nishanth was shocked would be an understatement. He never knew that this man could live his life with all those false statements on him. Though Armaan was not the reason for anything... that had happened to him and his family, this cruel world made him guilty.
Finally, Armaan Devansh requested Nishanth, “Please… don’t tell anything to Diya.” As he ended his words, a drop of tears left his eyes.
Nishanth agreed to it and said, “I promise. This will be forever with me. But I tell you, Armaan… when the things get out of your hands… I will have no other way than... to tell the truth out.”
Both of them hugged each other. Finally, all three return to their own places. Nishanth entered his room and noticed that Diya was not there.
"Now... It had become a habit for her. Every time I go out... She will also go to meet her friends. But she always chooses the time that is not appropriate... But Nishanth... You shouldn't lose yourself. You have come a long way by controlling yourself from all those past things. Don't ruin your life now. Both mom and Diya are happy that you have changed. So be in your senses. And... Please think before you do anything", Nishanth muttered to himself.
So Nishanth called her and came to know... that they had gone out. He questioned her, “You three don’t care about... any dangerous things. Send me the location. I will be there.”
Nishanth again went out in his car and reached the place. He stopped at a particular place and called Diya. Diya attended the call.
Nishanth said, “Three of you… come out from the park.”
Diya blotted out, “I’ll tell you, Nishanth… Don’t scold my friends. You have no right to scold them. They are already upset.”
Nishanth said, “I know... and I’ll see to it. You come outside, now.” Three of them walked.
Nisha and Magadhi said, “Alright. Diya… we will take a bus from here.”
Nishanth glanced at them and ordered, “Get inside the car. All three of you.” Diya stared at him.
Nisha was the first one to be dropped. Magadhi and Diya hugged Nisha by getting out of the car. Nisha waved her hand to Nishanth.
Magadhi was dropped at her house. As she hopped out of the car, Diya came out the car and hugged her.
As a surprise to... Diya and Magadhi, Nishanth came out of the driving seat and leaned on the car. Both the girls looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders.
Nishanth stood before Magadhi and asserted, “Magadhi… I know what you are going through. But what is the only thing that I want you to think is… every person has their own story and different perspective of life. You will not know what I’m thinking and... the same goes for me. I would suggest you as a friend or brother… just one thing. Don’t take any decision in haste. Take time… please think and decide. I hope you don’t keep your brain as useless… as your friend."
On completing this, Nishanth and Magadhi chuckled. Diya muttered, “Idiot.”
Diya hit him in Nishanth's bicep and stomped her foot. Magadhi nodded for Nishanth’s words.
Magadhi waved her hands to the couple and went inside her home.
Only Nishanth and Diya were left in the car. There was silence.
Nishanth broke the silence by questioning her, “Night walk… don’t you see it dangerous, Diya.” Diya didn’t open her mouth.
Nishanth was enraged and didn’t speak after that. They reached the mansion.
Nishanth got off the car and saw Diya, who was not even moving an inch. He opened the door and lifted her in bridal style. He had his signature smirk on his lips.
Diya struggled and said, “Drop me down.”
Nishanth shook his head and said, “Nope.” He questioned, “Why are you angry?”
Diya spoke, “Can’t you have a smiling face when you speak with them. Who gave you the rights to order them?” Nishanth smiled after hearing her words.
Diya said, “See… can’t you smile like this???”
Nishanth said while walking the steps, “I like to smile only in front of my wife. I like it when I hear her speak, her expressions, her cute banter, the way she eats, etc. I really don’t know why I even laugh out loud. Sometimes when I even see her… I have tears in my eyes of joy.”
Diya stared at him and said, “Don't flatter me.” By now, they entered their room.
Diya enquired Nishanth, “I’m happy that you spoke to comfort Magadhi. But what made you do so? I haven’t seen that you... take... interest in my friend’s life. But why today? And why didn’t you tell Nisha anything? If so... you wanted to take... interest in my friends… it must have been Nisha. Because… she is related to Charles… I don’t understand what you are thinking…”
Nishanth placed her in bed and said, “I just felt that… Yeah, Nisha needs some kind of support and guidance too. But not as much as Magadhi. As far as I know about your friends… Nisha can handle things calmly and in a better way than Magadhi. Magadhi will think a lot… And she may end up in the wrong decision. Nisha is in the worst situation too. But think about… Magadhi… her nephew and sister. She has so much to take. Now... we still didn’t know If she told her parents about her sister and her family. Hmmm… I feel too tired, Diya. I’m exhausted. Let’s talk about this later.”
Diya questioned, “Ok… Did you have anything?”
Nishanth replied to her with a sheepish smile, “I need you.” Diya became scarlet by hearing his words.
The next morning... Nishanth and Diya woke up at the same time. Diya questioned, “Did you attend any party?”
Nishanth understood her and said, “I met Charles and Armaan Devansh. They both were drunk. It's been days since I drank. So I just took a sip.”
Diya nodded her head and got up to have a bath. Finally, they both were ready to have their breakfast.
Nishanth asked, “Hmm… Diya… Can we go to any other place… to stay for a week?”
Diya saw him with a shocked expression and questioned, “Is that you? Are you really asking it?” Nishanth laughed and nodded his head.
Diya saw him and said, “We can go to the Maldives.”
Nishanth questioned with shock, “You want to go to the Maldives?”
Diya replied, “Yes.”
Nishanth said, “Wish granted. Pack your luggage for a week. We can go now.”
Diya was elated to hear it. She placed her luggage and set out for their trip. Just before Nishanth could get on the back seat of the car. Diya ran inside the mansion as she informed Nishanth that she... forgot to take something.
Diya came after five minutes with a paper in her hand and dropped it in her sling bag that... was in the car. Nishanth questioned her, “What was that, Diya?”
“It’s nothing, Nishanth. Just my checklist.” Diya said by hugging his bicep in the car.
Nishanth asked her in surprise, “Did you make a checklist of Maldives within a short period?”
“Don’t be a dumb person Nishanth. How would I do it in a matter of two hours? That too... I didn’t have time for packing itself… It’s my checklist from my college days. But just the person whom I am going to is with a different person. Actually… I planned this with my darlings… Magadhi and Nisha… But I’m going with my husband today!!! I’m really excited.” Diya chirped.
Nishanth watched Diya’s laughter and felt too happy about the plan for this trip.
Nishanth and Diya reached the airport from the mansion by car.
After the check-in process, they boarded the flight. It was an easy flight journey.
As soon as... they landed, Nishanth tied a blindfold on Diya’s eyes. Diya was curious about where he was taking her. But he didn’t spill any of the information.
Diya whined, “Please… Nishanth… We came here to see the beauty of this place… and not to keep my eyes blind all the time.”
Nishanth giggled and replied, “Wait… Diya. Relax.”
As he removed the cloth from her eyes, Diya opened her eyes to see the place. “Nishanthhhhhh… We are in…” Diya awed and jumped.
“Yes we are in The Muraka…”, Diya jumped and hugged Nishanth.
Nishanth asserted, “We are staying here for…”
“Nishanth… tell me for?” Diya asked in curiousness.
“Woman... I know you are excited. But please let me complete the statement. And for your question... Until…you want to leave this place.” Nishanth completed.
“Hubby… Do you know… This is the first place on my checklist.” Diya said.
“Is it? I didn’t know it, Diya. Woooow…” Nishanth replied.
But Diya felt that there was some mischievous smile and a smirk on Nishanth’s face. She opened her mouth wide in realization and asked, “Don’t tell me that you have read this checklist of mine…”
Nishanth replied with an innocent face, “How will I do it, Diya? Isn’t it bad to do it?”
Diya realized that he was playing with her and the whole trip was his plan. He had already booked all the places by knowing her checklist.
They enjoyed two whole days in the same place and with all the facilities. The water sports were the happiest part for both Nishanth and Diya.
The next day they visited the Banana reef, Male local market, Majeedhee Magu, and Island Bazaar and had lunch in Ithaa undersea restaurant.
After roaming different places, it was already night. They were tired. They had their dinner and went back to their room. On the balcony... the next day, morning Diya was watching the scenery and felt the place was too beautiful. Nishanth caught her from the back and hugged her. He placed his head on her shoulder.
Diya stood there for a while, holding his hands on her. Nishanth questioned Diya, “Are you happy?”
Diya nodded and said, “I like this place a lot more, Nishanth. Can we come again here?”
Nishanth said, “Alright, my wifey. I will even buy the places you like here. So… only you can admire the beauty of it. Or let me buy the whole world.”
Diya turned and hit him in the head and said, “Cliché… I don’t want the whole world. I love to spend time with you and watch places with you.”
Nishanth said, “Fine... I will just buy a house here. So when we come, we can stay there. I also want to spend more time with you here. Can we extend a week of stay here?”
Diya said, “No… we can go back.”
Nishanth replied, “Ok. Can we then go to some other places after we return?”
Diya nodded her head and said, “Yes… But monthly once or after every two months. If you spend more time with me… then what about your work?”
Nishanth said, “Don’t worry… I won’t become poor if I don’t work. If you think of our company… I have Rishab to work more.”
Diya said, “If Rishab is married… his wife would curse both of us for not giving a day off for him.”
Nishanth said, “How dare she scolds you? I am paying him, right?”
Diya hugged him and said, “D, a wife yearns for her husband to spend more time with her. And not his money. Money can’t bring happiness all time. Memories are the only thing that is going to last for a longer time, Nishanth... This money can only give materialistic happiness...”
Nishanth said, “I agree with you, dear. I feel jubilant when I am with you. I want to create more memories with you. If you…”
Diya closed his mouth and said, “I won’t leave you in this lifetime.”
Nishanth removed her hand and said, “Who would leave you to run away from me? If I know you are thinking in that way… I would break your legs right away. So that... you can’t leave me as I said you on our marriage.” Diya had her head dropped down.
Nishanth cupped her face and said, “Diya… you became my life. Without you, I can’t even live a second. My heart hurts a lot to see you sad and when you cry. Don’t be sad, wifey.”
Diya had a smile on her face and said, “Ok,” and pecked his lips. She ran away.
Nishanth was shocked and stood stiff. He then walked out. Nishanth and Diya had a good time... for the whole week in Diya's favorite place.
