HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! (For Australia at least lmao)

Vampire Connor is a concept that has me quaking (or am I quacking) and besides I want to start doing holiday specials :^)

**Just wanted to clarify that this is an irrelevant one-shot with no correlation to the plot of the main story

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

It was beginning to get dark, but (Y/n) had just run out of candy for the trick or treaters. She couldn't believe it, so she had run out and was determined to not let the night end there.

It was fairly chilly, and (Y/n) cursed herself for not rugging up a little more.

I could've just stayed home,

She thought to herself.

In the warmth. No! Halloween isn't over for (Y/n) (L/n) just yet, no way.

With newfound determination, she trudged onward.

A few street lights had begun turning on and (Y/n) instantly regretted walking in the dying sunlight.

Why couldn't I just have brought more candy earlier?! I'm sure the store is all sold out! It's too late to turn back. I'm not leaving empty handed goddammit.

Hearing a bush rustle up ahead the girl made a clean 180 and began walking home instantly.

God, you're such a coward (Y/n).

She was snapped out of her thoughts when she felt the impending emotion of being watched. Her hair pricked, making her feel uneasy.
Glancing frantically around her (Y/n) saw nothing and decided she was just being paranoid.

Deep breaths, there's nothing out there. It's Halloween, I'm just being superstitious. There are no such things as demons, werewolves, vampires-

As if on cue she swore she saw the glint of eyes off to her right.

Screaming inwardly, (Y/n) faced ahead and acted like she hadn't seen anything.

Look, my house is just up ahead. I'm gonna be fine. This is okay. I'm fine.

When she finally built up enough courage to peek back she saw nothing but the dimly lit street. Sighing with relief, she turned back around only to be stopped abruptly when she hit something.

Falling to the ground (Y/n) thought she must have hit a pole while she wasn't paying attention, either that or some monster had come to reap her soul, until she heard a smooth voice ask "Are you alright?"

Stiffening, (Y/n) looked up and saw a total stranger standing above her. His hand was outstretched, offering to help her up.

Once she was standing again she dusted herself off.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm alright."

She inhaled a shaky breath. He looked normal. No fur- he definitely wasn't a werewolf. No missing limbs- he wasn't a zombie. Instead of analysing him more she settled on the fact he was just a normal human.

Why wouldn't he be?

"I'm (Y/n). What's your name?"

"Connor." The man replied calmly.

"Well, Connor, you gave me a bit of a fright there!"
(Y/n) let out a half-forced laugh.

"Why's that now? Did you think I was some kind of ghoul in the night?"

Connor joked light-heartedly.

"Yeah, kinda," (Y/n) rubbed the back of her neck in embarrassment.

Wait, did his eyes have a reddish tint to them or was she just seeing things?

"A vampire maybe?" it was at that moment (Y/n) took notice of Connor's abnormally sharp canines when he smiled. Thinking about it now, his ears looked pretty pointy too. And in the dim light he did look almost sickly pale.

Who knows, maybe he was just dressed up for Halloween? You're never too old to celebrate the holiday.

"Haha, y-yeah-"
(Y/n) was becoming more and more uneasy the more she hung around this guy.

"Well, I'll be going now," the girl added awkwardly when she noticed she was just outside her house. Turning to head off, she felt Connor grab her arm and went to protest when she became aware of a new warmth looming over her neck.

Oh lord, please tell me this is some kind of joke-

Suddenly she felt a sharp pain on the side of her neck.

"H-hey!"

Held firmly in place by Connor's grip, (Y/n) became weaker and weaker every moment. She felt her eyelids beginning to droop, her face turning pale while she swayed on her feet.

"S-stop... please..." she breathed out as she felt herself slipping in and out of consciousness.

But right when Connor pulled away from her throat she collapsed, blacking out.

Connor caught her before she could hit the ground, turning to the house she was going to walk into.

Time skip brought to you by I've never written a vampire character before how am I doing

When (Y/n) had begun to take up consciousness again, she was fully aware of how heavy her limbs felt.

What time was it?

What happened?

She didn't remember going to sleep.
That's when all her memories from last night came flooding back in one giant wave.

The girl bolted upright, breathing heavily, and one of her hands instantly shot to her throat at the spot where she remembered Connor biting her.

She frantically looked all around her for the vampire, and when her eyes landed on him standing just a few feet away from her bed she screamed and fell off the opposite side of the mattress.

When Connor took a step towards her (Y/n) scrambled away while stuttering out, "G-go away! Don't come near me!"

Connor flinched slightly at her outburst, but remained still as he downcast his gaze to the floor.

(Y/n) dragged the doona into the farthest corner of the room from Connor and cocooned herself in it, burying her face in her knees.

(Or haha y'know duvet for you fancy Americans and non-Australians)

There was a long moment of silence before she asked, "Am I going to turn into a vampire now?"

Somehow Connor heard her muffled speech and responded.
"Well, no, because that wasn't my intention of biting you. Unless I wanted you to, you won't turn into a vampire. You'll stay very much human."

"Why did you bite me then?"

(Y/n) snapped over her shoulder.

"I'm very sorry..."
Connor replied genuinely.

"Vampires tend to lose control of themselves when they become extremely hungry. I had no intention of killing or harming you, I swear,"

He began to take small, soundless steps towards (Y/n) while she was turned away.

"And I didn't mean to take so much of your blood that you passed out. When I'd regained control of myself I realised how long I had been draining you for. I'm sorry, really I am."

By now Connor was now standing right behind (Y/n), without her notice.
He crouched down and placed one of his hands on her shoulder while he asked softly,

"Are you alright?"

The girl flinched at his touch, but other than that she didn't move or respond.

"Why are you still here?"
"Because... I never meant to hurt such a kind lady such as yourself and wish to make up for it. Or at the very least, make sure that you're okay."

Suddenly (Y/n) spun around and jumped from her blanket cocoon and into Connor's chest, hugging him tightly. It was only now that Connor had realised that she'd been crying. But he didn't care if she got his clothes wet.

He embraced her tightly, trying to comfort her as best he could.

"Hush now,"
He whispered into her ear,
"You're too beautiful to be overcome by tears. I promise I won't hurt you again."

Connor ran his fingers through (Y/n)'s (h/c) hair, which seemed effective in calming her down.

After a while he tried to move away, but realised that the girl had fallen asleep again. He smiled softly.

I don't usually hang around humans as much as I need to,

Connor thought to himself.

But I feel like I might hang around (Y/n) for a while longer at least.
