"Why? What are you going to do if I refuse?"

His brows just narrowed in warning, staring at the Soul Reaper chained to the wall. "You don't have a choice."

"In case you have forgotten I don't have many connections that you could use as a bargaining chip."

"You're a Soul Reaper. Everyone has allies, loved ones."

She chuckled darkly, looking away. "You are wasting your time." He was curious, but not enough to ask. Though the expression on the young woman's face revealed she was thinking of an unhappy memory.

"I'll be sure to relay your answer to Lord Aizen."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"How is our prisoner doing today?" It had been three months since they had captured the Soul Reaper. Three months since the torturing began. Three months since Ulquiorra had been pressing her for information on the Soul Society's plans towards the war. She would not budge.

"There is no progress," the servant answered.

"Hmm..." The man rubbed his chin in thought. "This woman is becoming more of a problem than I intended."

"Give him some time, Lord Aizen," Gin spoke up. "Takara is a very stubborn young lady."

"More so that I thought at first." His eyes stayed trained on the Espada. "I will give you three more weeks, Ulquiorra. Three more weeks and then you will find me another Soul Reaper to interrogate."

"And what of the trash in your holding cell?" he asked.

"I don't think I need to explain to you what needs to be done."

"Understood, Lord Aizen."

The Fourth Espada left without another word, moving through the quiet halls of Las Noches. Though it wasn't long until the Fox-like ex-Captain intercepted him. "Listen to me, and listen well," Gin spoke under his breath. "You need to get her to talk."

His cold eyes observed the man. "You care for that piece of trash."

Gin gripped the front of the Espada's uniform, eyelids parting to reveal his dangerous red eyes. "She means everything. I took her from the slums of the lower Districts. I gave her a life when she was near death. Takara does not deserve this."

"Then you should not have introduced that trash to the life of a Soul Reaper."

"I did not know this would happen!" he snapped. Sighing heavily, the man regained his composure. Takara was more of an adopted-daughter to him than anything. "Get her to talk, or else you will deal with me."

"You're threatening me."

"I will make sure your title is taken away and are reduced to a lowly Arrancar, wandering the Menos Forest so you are hunted and feasted upon by those who wish to gain your strength. Do I make myself clear?"

Ulquiorra said nothing as the Soul Reaper slowly released him, watching as the eyes closed and a foxy grin stretched across his lips once more. "I will see you around, Ulquiorra."

Cold eyes stared at the limp body hanging from the wrist and ankle shackles as blood dripped from parted lips. "Are you prepared to talk?" Takara weakly spat up the excess spit and blood that had been gathering. "You have three weeks to tell us what we want to know."

"And after that?" came her horse voice.

"I have my orders." Stepping closer his cold hand gripped the jaw roughly causing a chill to run through her. "The decision is up to you." The door opened as Nnoitra walked in with a sadistic grin on his face. He had no control over this Espada's actions and the pain wouldn't stop until they were given useful information.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You're running out of time," Gin declared. He had cornered the Espada in his bedroom when the young man was returning from a mission.

"This is between you and that piece of trash. If you want her to talk then say something to the prisoner."

"If I do that then Lord Aizen will know something is up. He already suspects something."

"This is not my problem."

"It will be if you don't do something!" This was really getting to the ex-Captain, who would normally not let such a thing affect him. Their side of the war was not supposed to show emotion. Gin invaded the Espada's personal space, their noses nearly touching. "The Menos Forest. Do I have to explain myself further?"

Ulquiorra glared at the exhausted Soul Reaper, whose body was slumped against the wall now, head turned up and rested against the cool metal wall. "Wake up, trash." Takara jumped, wincing from the injuries sustained. Slowly, he stalked forward as his eyes examined the damage. Extensive bruising, a black eye, swollen jaw, and various cuts along the body. "Why do you say we have no leverage against you?"

Throat dry, the Soul Reaper coughed. "Everyone is dead... or thinks me a traitor..."

Finally, Takara spoke for the first time, drawing his attention. Though when the door opened her jaw tensed, knowing whom had entered. "Feh, that bitch ready for her daily dose?" the Fifth Espada smirked.

Ulquiorra thought this over for a moment before saying, "Leave us, Nnoitra."

"What?" the man snapped.

"Your services are not needed today."

Growling, the Fifth Espada left in a huff, slamming the door behind him. Ever so slowly, the young woman relaxed. "Why did you send him away...?" she breathed.

He said nothing, staring at Takara. And interesting piece of trash she was, he hated to admit. She was strong, he admired her courage to stand up against the Fifth Espada's blade and risk her own life for the Society, much in the same way as he would for Lord Aizen.

"My Rukongai family was slaughtered by Hollows when I was on a mission," Takara explained. "I was nearly engaged... when a Menos killed him. And the ex-Captains' defecting from the Society I lost any allies I had. Because I couldn't be trusted."

"And Gin Ichimaru? What was his involvement in your life?"

Her chuckle was dark. "It is because of him that no one will come to save me."

"You two were involved."

"He gave me something to live for. A reason to protect others. I was a child dying in the streets of Rukongai when he found me on one of his missions." Takara's head sluggishly moved so she could stare the Espada dead in the eyes. "So you see why you cannot threaten me with anything because there is nothing in my life with meaning. Kill them all. I honestly don't give a damn, but I will not sell them out. You might as well kill me now so I don't waste your time."

The Fourth Espada move forward, the Soul Reaper watching his approach. Ulquiorra gripped the swollen jaw searching her face. There had been no hesitation in the declaration, nor lies in the way she spoke. He believed Takara. "What do you know about the Soul Society's plans?"

"Nothing," she answered, not even batting an eye. "I know nothing."

Their lips touched in an emotionless kiss, the Espada sending a surge of pressure through the Soul Reaper's spent body and causing the chains to break. The connection broke, the young woman slumping against him in exhaustion.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Still nothing."

"Nothing to report, Lord Aizen."

"It is obvious that our attempts are futile. I will not put this off any longer. Ulquiorra, you have your orders." The ex-Third Captain tensed at the fact that the sentence was four days earlier than expected. He had run out of time.

"No."

The Soul Reaper cocked a brow. "No?" Gin was as equally surprised. "Are you defying me, Ulquiorra?"

"That piece of trash though useless has potential."

His grew intrigued. "Go on."

"The prisoner can keep a secret. And you have been informed that I am looking for a replacement in my Fracción."

"And you believe Takara may be suited for you?"

"There is a possibility she could leak something in the future that could be beneficial."

The Lord thought this over for a moment, intrigued by the whole idea, while Gin waited with baited breath. "Very well. Let us entertain the idea that Takara is now on our side. There may be hope yet."

Bowing, the Espada took his leave, noticing the relief that flickered in the fox man's expression. The way back to his room was uneventful, the door opening when he approached only to be consumed by darkness when it closed. However, the moon that shone through the window offered enough light for anyone to see the outline of the bed, it's backboard against the wall, and the figure that slept silently under the covers. He had been the one to remove the soiled clothing, tending to the wounds before dressing the unconscious Soul Reaper in a decent outfit, and put her in bed.

Shedding the outer coat, Ulquiorra crawled under the covers and buried his face into the pillow, sighing heavily. There was no guarantee Lord Aizen would take the bait and listen to the Fourth Espada's plan. Fortunately for him it ended rather well. Now the young man did not have to worry any longer about Gin carrying forth with his threat. But that didn't mean they were out of danger yet. When Takara awoke, he would have to relay the ex-Captain's message and force her to accept the fact that the only way she was going to survive in Las Noches was to make everyone else believe the Soul Reaper served some purpose.

The bed shifted as Takara moved closer towards the Espada, hot breath hitting a shoulder and sending a foreign feeling through him.

To hell with Gin. Now her life depended on his future actions and he would do everything in his power to make sure she survived.
