The halls of Las Noches were quiet for once during the invasion of the Soul Reaper, Ichigo Kurosaki, and his friends Renji, Rukia, Chad, and Uryuu. They had come to rescue Orihime Inoue and had managed to defeat a great number of Arrancars and were getting closer to the throne room.

Everyone was out and about Las Noches trying to figure out what to do about the intruders and what Aizen's next plan of attack was going to be. There was one Arrancar though, a Fracción, that slept in her room. She was sleeping peacefully in her bed, covers draped over her body. However, a few minutes went by and she began to toss back and forth, becoming tangled in the fabric. Her facial expressions began to turn from peaceful to a pained one. Her brows furrowed in irritation as she squeezed her eyes tightly together. Her tossing and turning became more and more violent and jerky as sweat began to run down her face.

I hate feeling like this

I'm so tired of trying to fight this

I'm asleep and all I dream of

Is waking to you

Then it all stopped and the young girl slowly turned onto her side, face relaxed once more. A few seconds later her eyes gradually opened to reveal neon green eyes, but then faded away to a moss color. She sat up, legs crossing. Her head bowed as a hand came up, holding her forehead, amber colored hair flowing over the shoulders to cover her face. The young girl sighed heavily before running her hand through the locks, pushing back the bushy mess before climbing out of bed.

Tell me that you will listen

Your touch is what I'm missing

And the more I hide I realize

I'm slowly losing you

Pulling off the white tank top and black boy shorts she dressed in long white pants that flared at the bottom and a white jacket that buttoned in the front showing off her stomach with short, cuffed sleeves. She pulled back her hair and began to braid it loosely over a shoulder. Her Hollow hole was right below her collar bone, mask tracing around her eyes like thin glasses and disappeared behind both ears.

Comatose

I'll never wake up without an overdose of you

After making sure all the sweat was gone from her face, that her eyes were back to normal, and that she didn't look shook up, the Fracción got up from her seat and walked out of the room.

"So," a voice sounded. "Anything?"

The girl looked up out of the corner of her eyes. Grimmjow Jeagerjaques leaned against the wall, arms crossed, eyes closed. A few seconds later he opened them to glance down at the Fracción. She looked away to stare at the number '6' painted on the door across from them.

"No," she answered softly. "I saw nothing."

Grimmjow was suddenly in front of the young girl and his hand slamming into the wall on either side of her head. He leaded down in a menacing way. She was forced to press her back into the wall. "I know you're lying, Ten," he said in a low voice. "You can't hide anything from me."

I don't wanna live, I don't wanna breathe

'Less I feel you next to me

You take the pain I feel

(Waking up to you never felt so real)

The young girl looked away, avoiding eye contact. Grimmjow's free hand gripped Ten's chin and forced her to look at him. "You know I hate doing this, Ten, but I order you, as my Fracción, to tell me what you saw." Ten remained silent. "Tell me so I can kill that Soul Reaper, Kurosaki, once and for all." Grimmjow searched Ten's eyes. "You saw something involving Kurosaki. I can tell."

Ten held Grimmjow's stare before sighing, and pulling away her chin. "Yes, I saw Kurosaki." The young man's smile grew sadistic. Ten looked up at him from under some strands of hair that had fallen out of place. "But... someone else will reach him before you. Kurosaki will not survive before the two of you to have another encounter."

Grimmjow glared down at Ten, who only stood to his shoulders. "Who?"

"Ulquiorra. He will kill Kurosaki before you even reach him, even if you start now," Ten noted when she saw Grimmjow start to move.

"Damn it!" he yelled, slamming his fist into the wall. "What else?" he growled.

"There was nothing else-"

"Bull!" the Espada yelled, getting in her face. "What else?"

Ten looked into Grimmjow's eyes with a calm expression. "You need to think of a way to stop his death."

"Tell me how," he ordered, becoming irritated.

"You know, I'm not always going to be around to tell you everything. You need to think for yourself."

Grimmjow's eyebrows furrowed. "What does that mean?"

"Think, who's the only person who can bring Kurosaki back from the dead?"

The Espada thought for a few minutes before finally thinking of the answer. "That human girl."

"Yes, Orihime Inoue."

I don't wanna sleep, I don't wanna dream

'Cause my dreams don't comfort me

The way you make me feel

(Waking up to you never felt so real)

"Grimmjow," a voice came from down the hall. The two Arrancars turned in the direction of the voice. It was a Fracción. "Lord Aizen wishes to see you."

He growled.

"Go ahead," Ten said. She began to walk down the opposite way. "I'll go to Orihime and wait for you."

I hate living without you

Dead wrong to ever doubt you

But my demons lay in waiting

Tempting me away

"What the hell are you doing to my Fracción?" Grimmjow growled, holding Menoly's face with one hand, Loly collapsed on the floor from being thrown into a wall.

Ten sat on the floor, cupping a swollen cheek. Orihime was crouched next to her since Ten had been trying to protect the human girl. "Let me go!" Menoly yelled.

Grimmjow's grip tightened. "We need the human alive, or have you forgotten? And no one does that to my Fracción and gets away with it." Grimmjow then proceeded in blowing off Menoly's upper body with a Cero blast. What remained of her body dropped to the ground. Loly was in so much shock she couldn't even speak. The Espada then looked over at Ten and Orihime.

"Let's go," he ordered.

Ten staggered to her feet before walking to Grimmjow's side. However, Orihime ran over the Menoly's body and began to heal it. The young man looked down at his Fracción. "Think you can pull yourself together?" he asked.

"Oh... sorry..." Ten whispered, re-braiding her tousled hair and readjusting her top from where Loly had grabbed at it.

Oh, how I adore you

Oh, how I thirst for you

Oh, how I need you

Grimmjow watched his Fracción out of the corner of his eyes as she continued to fix herself up. He realized Ten had missed a stand of hair and he absently tucked it behind an ear. Ten stopped, looking up at the Espada and his random act, but his attention was back on the human who had finished healing Menoly.

"Let's go," Grimmjow ordered.

Comatose

I'll never wake up without an overdose of you

Blades clashed back and forth across the sand as Orihime, Nel, and Ten watched the Espada, Grimmjow, and the Soul Reaper, Ichigo, battle it out. Ten watched intently as the battle became more heated. Ichigo brought out his Hollow mask while Grimmjow activated the true power of his zanpakuto.

I don't wanna live, I don't wanna breathe

'Less I feel you next to me

You take the pain I feel

(Waking up to you never felt so real)

Orihime noticed the Fracción becoming more and more tense as the fight went on. Over the last few days, the human and Arrancar had bonded since Orihime had no one to talk to. Orihime placed a reassuring hand on Ten's shoulder. "It's going to be alright. I know Ichigo won't really kill Grimmjow."

"I'm not worried about that." The healer looked at the girl with a questioning look. "I'm waiting for something."

Then the fight was all over. Ichigo gripped Grimmjow's wrist before he went falling headfirst towards the ground. The two then floated to the ground where Grimmjow's body laid lifeless on the ground. Ichigo then went up Orihime and Nel. He looked over towards Ten as his mask disappeared. "I'm sorry," he spoke. "I guess you want to kill me now."

"No," the young girl answered. "He's alive."

Ichigo was about to protest, but Orihime stopped him. Ten walked towards Grimmjow's body, the others standing at a distance. She kneeled down, putting a hand to the Espada's cheek, rolling him over. "Grimmjow," she spoke softly. "It's time to wake up."

His eyes fluttered open. "You knew all along," he grumbled.

"Sorry..." she whispered. He sat up, brushing off Ten's help before facing Ichigo. The Soul Reaper pushed Orihime behind him.

I don't wanna sleep, I don't wanna dream

'Cause my dreams don't comfort me

The way you make me feel

(Waking up to you never felt so real)

"We're not done," Grimmjow growled as he advanced on his target. Ten appeared behind the teen, taking Orihime with her so she wasn't near the fight.

"It's safer here," the Fracción whispered in Orihime's ear before walking forward a few feet.

Breathing life, waking up

My eyes open up

"You're not dead yet?" Ichigo asked, raising his zanpakuto.

"Feh, I'm not that easy to kill," Grimmjow spat.

"I'll correct that."

Then Ten saw it and she hurled her body past the Soul Reaper. "Grimmjow!" she screamed.

Comatose

I'll never wake up without an overdose of you

Everything seemed like it was going in slow motion as Ten rushed towards the caught off guard Espada. A shoulder collided into Grimmjow's chest, forcing him backwards. At the same time, Ten pulled her zanpakuto from the sheath. Right as she made a full rotation, sword fully drawn another zanpakuto slammed into the blade, creating sparks. It was Nnoitra's.

I don't wanna live, I don't wanna breathe

'Less I feel you next to me

You take the pain I feel

(Waking up to you never felt so real)

"So close," he said with a sadistic grin. "I should have known your Fracción would've seen this coming, Grimmjow." Ten gritted her teeth as she pushed against the force behind the enemy's weapon. "Then I guess the only way around this is to kill her first!"

Ten was forced backwards, feet sliding across the sand as Nnoitra continued to attack. She whipped around in a circle before coming in contact with the Espada's blade again. Ichigo tried to rush in and help, but Nnoitra's Fracción blocked him.

I don't wanna sleep, I don't wanna dream

'Cause my dreams don't comfort me

The way you make me feel

(Waking up to you never felt so real)

Grimmjow was so stunned and hurt he couldn't get up, though he tried. Ten continued to put up a good defense, but was never able to get in an attack because of Nnoitra's brutal shots. One of his attacks forced Ten's blade away, leaving her open. "You're weak!" the man yelled, thrusting his blade forward.

Oh, how I adore you

(Waking up to you never felt so real)

Oh, how I thirst for you

(Waking up to you never felt so real)

The zanpakuto came up, catching the front of Ten and hoisting her high into the air, limbs dangling around the edges. Ten's eyes widened as she looked down at Nnoitra's sadistic face. The weapon fell from her fingertips. Everyone else looked on in horror. "TEN!" Grimmjow roared as Nnoitra jumped into the air, Ten still dangling from the blade. He then flipped his zanpakuto around throwing the Fracción's body into the ground, forcing the edge of the blade into her body even more.

Oh, how I adore you

Ten cried out in pain, tears flowing down the cheeks

AH!

"Nnoitra! Stop!" Grimmjow yelled, forcing himself to his feet, painfully.

Raising an arm, she pointed a finger at Nnoitra. "Die, you son of a-!" A cero came blasting out of the tip, making the Espada fly across the desert. His Fracción rushed after him. Ten was still pinned to the ground by the zanpakuto and tried pushing it off, only managing to cut her palm up in the process. She coughed and hiccupped blood with tears.

The way you make me feel

(Waking up to you never felt so real)

Then Grimmjow was standing next to her, hands on the hilt. "This will hurt," he stated.

Ten just nodded and the Espada ripped the zanpakuto out of the ground. She screamed again, louder, and cringed. Her body curled into a ball as the pain spread like fire.

"Orihime-?" Ichigo called. He stopped, looking around. "Orihime!" The human had disappeared. "Damn it!" The Soul Reaper then rushed off to find his friend.

Grimmjow crouched down next to Ten's shaking body, laying her upper body in his lap. "Ten," he spoke. "Ten."

Her eyes opened and looked up at the young man weakly. "I'm... sorry," she hiccupped.

"You knew about this, didn't you?" Ten didn't answer. "You damn idiot... why didn't you tell me?"

"Would you have... allowed me... to follow?" Grimmjow didn't answer. "Grimmjow... It's cold..."

"Now you listen here, don't you dare die on me, you got that?" Grimmjow ordered through his teeth. He looked around, finding them alone in this barren wasteland. When he looked down at Ten her eyes were partly closed, eyes neon green. Then the color faded. "What did you see?"

Ten coughed up blood. "There was... a bright light..."

"Don't-"

"Grimmjow... I'll see you... soon..." The Fracción's eyes closed completely.

"Ten? Ten!" Grimmjow looked around frantically. "HELP!" he yelled. "SOMEBODY HELP ME! HELP!" The Espada's attention turned back to the young girl lying in his arms. "TEN! TEN!"

Suddenly there was a Soul Reaper in front of him. It was Captain Unohana of the Fourth Division. "Please," Grimmjow begged. "Help her."

"I'm sorry, I can't," she answered. "I cannot heal someone who was attacked by an ally of mine."

"She was attacked by an Espada to save me," Grimmjow spoke through gritted teeth. "I'm begging you to help her, please!"

Unohana paused before bending down and placing a hand over the girl's face. "I'm sorry... but she has already passed on..." Grimmjow wound his arms tighter around her thin form, bringing her closer. "I've heard of you, Grimmjow. I ask you, do you still plan to follow Aizen's path of destruction?"

"I hate that man for what has happened," Grimmjow growled. "I do not wish to follow him. I never had."

"Then would you like to come with me?"

"Why can't you just leave me here? What else can I do out there?"

"You can live."

Seventeen Years Later

Grimmjow walked through the halls of the Ninth Division as Captain with Shuuhei close behind. After defeating Aizen, Gin, and Tousen, Grimmjow had gone to the Soul Society. It took time for the Society to trust him, but he was the most qualified for the position. And with careful observation they realized he would not betray them in any way.

Ten's body was buried outside the gates on a deserted hill covered in lush grass that over looked the Rukongai District. Grimmjow never forgot that day. 'I'll see you soon, Grimmjow.' That was a lie. The ex-Espada knew he would never see her again, and it hurt him greatly. For seventeen years it was painful that he would get up each day and realize... she wasn't there.

Grimmjow was in the World of the Living with Shuuhei on a mission having joined up with Ichigo, Rukia, and Renji. The five of them met up in a park after school. Suddenly a Hollow's scream filled the air and a loud boom. The group looked up and watched as a young girl ran out from the dust cloud with the enemy close behind.

Shuuhei rushed forward, slicing the Hollow's mask in half. The teen stopped, staring at him in shock. Grimmjow appeared behind the human. "Was that it?" he asked Shuuhei.

"Yes, Captain," the Lieutenant answered.

Grimmjow grabbed the girl's wrist, looking back at Rukia. "Erase her memories." He then saw the shocked look on Ichigo's face. He was looking at the human. "What? See something you like?"

Ichigo opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. "I knew you would come," a soft voice spoke. "That's why I came here."

Grimmjow looked down and froze. "Ten?" he whispered.

The teen smiled lightly. "That was my old name. My name now is Mag."

"We'll leave you alone, Captain," Shuuhei said, leaving the two. Grimmjow's grip tightened on Ten's wrist and he turned to face her.

"You died," he finally managed.

"As an Arrancar," Ten said. "I was reborn as a human."

"How much do you remember?"

"I remember everything, Grimmjow Jeagerjaques, former Sixth Espada, now Captain of Squad Nine."

"How do you know all that?"

"I didn't loose my gift when my soul crossed. I knew you were coming here. I knew there was going to be a Hollow."

Grimmjow looked down at her uniform. "You don't go to Kurosaki's school."

"I go to a different one, but I remember him clearly along with Orihime."

Grimmjow then noticed a red marking peeking out from the top button. The Captain reached up, ripping off the top two, revealing the top part of the scar she received from Nnoitra.

Grimmjow stumbled backwards, releasing her wrist. It was Ten. It really was her. "What happened to everyone else?" she asked.

"I'm the only one left."

Ten smiled warmly. "I'm glad." Ten stepped closer to Grimmjow, looking up at him. "I wanted to ask you something, Grimmjow..."

He noticed she still braided her hair the same way. "Go ahead."

"Even though we are no longer in the same class and race may I still be your Fracción?"

Grimmjow smirked. He reached out and touched Ten's hair. "What do you see?"

Ten's eyes flashed neon green. She smiled. "You say yes."

"As long as I can still call you Ten."

"Ten... it's been a while since I heard that name... I missed it."

Grimmjow grabbed the teen and raced away from the park and back to the rented apartment. He ripped open Ten's button-down shirt, sending them flying. One hand traced over the scar from her past life before looking back into her eyes.

"I never did kill him. Someone else got to him before me and finished the job. I'm sorry I could not
