Name: Mira Kurosaki
Age: 20
Race: Shinigami
Hair Color: Pink
Eye Color: Red
Family: Isshin Kurosaki, Ichigo Kurosaki, Karin Kurosaki, Yuzu Kurosaki
History: She's Ichigo's older sister, and learned about her Shinigami powers when she was five. She also pretended to die, but the truth is she was trained under Urahara and Yoruichi through all those years. Ichigo found out that she was alive when she made an appearance when they retrieve Rukia in Soul Society. She's also the new Captain of Squad Five.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Mira?" The Squad Five Captain looked over her shoulder, finding Renji Abarai approaching.

"Renji? What is it?"

The Lieutenant caught his breath when they met before answering, "My Captain is looking for you."

Mira shrugged her shoulders before walking off towards the Sixth Division, Renji walking beside her. "Any idea why your Captain wants me?"

"Something about a report... oh, and probably something concerning your brother."

Mira sighed, shaking her head. "It's always the same with him. When are you scheduled to leave for the World of the Living?"

"A few days."

"Good, because when you see Ichigo, please tell him to stop getting Captain Kuchiki on my case about whatever he does. Or else," she then growled, a dark aura surrounding her.

Renji sweat dropped, scooting away. "Er... of course, Captain Kurosaki."

"Thanks," Mira said with a sweet smile, the dark feeling instantly gone.

Renji waved when departing, before the Captain disappeared into the Sixth Division Head Office. "Captain Kuchiki?" Mira asked upon entering. The man looked up from his paperwork as the door closed behind her. "You rang?"

He nodded, shuffling around some papers before pulling out a folder. "You report from when you went to the World of the Living," he spoke up. "The Head Captain asked me to look it over, but I wanted to hear from you in person: what is your take on the Arrancars? Do you think they are getting stronger?"

"They are getting stronger, which worries me in a sense. If their powers continue to increase then the Winter Showdown will be a tough one. In my opinion, everyone will not be able to walk away unscratched."

Byakuya nodded, looking back down at the report. However, his eyes quickly flashed over to Mira's right hand and wrist, which was wrapped in bandages, the material disappearing under the sleeve. The Sixth Captain knew Mira did not escape the battle she had against a high ranked Arrancar without injury. In fact, she had gotten burned pretty badly when catching an attack and throwing it away at the last second. Mira was not weak, she was a Kurosaki, after all. They never gave up, and the family was filled with unknown, untapped, and untold powers.

"How are the members from your team that accompanied you?"

"Healing. We were not anticipating their power. They definitely improved since Captain Hitsugaya's visit. That mistake will not be made again, though."

"Hmm..."

The room was silent for a few minutes before Mira asked, "Will that be all, Captain?"

"On your report, yes." Byakuya closed the file. "However, there is the matter of your brother, Ichigo Kurosaki."

Great... Mira grumbled to herself. What did he do now?

"Your brother is insistent on calling me by my first name, something I have not given him permission to do."

"Yeah..." Mira sighed, scratching the back of her head. "I know he has a tendency to do that. I'll talk to him again, but don't expect much. He may be my younger brother, but that doesn't mean he'll listen."

"Well, he should."

"I'll try," Mira answered, turning around to leave. Upon reaching the door, something stopped her. It was securely wrapped around both shoulders, radiating heat.

"There is... one more thing..." Byakuya's voice spoke quietly in the young woman's ear. Mira's heart was beating erratically, face beginning to heat up. He was very close. "You."

"What about me?" Mira asked, after swallowing the lump in her throat.

"You're different. I can't help the way you make me feel when I'm around you."

Mira knew what he was talking about... kind of. She realized that the Sixth Division Captain talked with her more than other Soul Reapers, was not bothered by her presence, even when he wanted to be alone, and was always the one to support her on her decisions. Even she noticed her attraction towards the man, but did not explore it because of the relation he had with Ichigo. Mira thought Byakuya would think the same as her. There was also their difference in class. He was a noble, and she was a commoner.

"Spit it out, Captain Kuchiki," Mira spoke bravely. "What are you getting at?"

"I'm falling for you," he stated, making Mira's eyes widened. "And I want to explore the feelings I have for you... if you'd let me."

The Fifth Division Captain smiled sweetly, leaning back into his chest. One of her hands reached up, cupping the side of Byakuya's face as she turned towards him. "Only if you'll let me explore mine too," she whispered.

A small smile came to Byakuya's lips before he pressed them against Mira's. "Mira," Byakuya breathed and the Captain melted into the man.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mira growled as she ripped her zanpakuto out of the last body of the Third Espada's Fracción. She breathed heavily as Mila-Rose's body began to disappear and looked around at the destruction. The females' joint attack had managed to rip open Rangiku's stomach, sent Momo back into the hospital, and even took down Shuuhei. If Mira and the Head Captain had not joined in, the three, including Izuru, who had been trying to heal the girls, would be dead right now.

However, Mira had wounds of her own. The left shoulder had been broken when trying to avoid an attack from the beast, a large gash running across her stomach from when she went in for the kill on Apache, and an eye was beginning to swell up from where Sung-Sun had snapped the tail at her.

She chuckled lightly before descending to the ground and sitting on her butt. "Damn it," Mira growled, clutching her stomach.

"Captain Kurosaki!" A Squad Four member appeared beside her, medical pack in hand. "Your wounds-!"

"Tend," she breathed, "to those who are worse off!" Mira pushed away the Soul Reaper's hands. "Rangiku's stomach has been completely ripped out, Momo's insides have been crushed, and Shuuhei's body has been broken! Heal them first!"

"But-!"

"That's an order!" she snapped; however, her eyes were kind.

The young girl nodded. "Understood. I'll send someone when I can." She disappeared, leaving Mira alone.

The Captain ripped the white Captain's robe, using her good arm and teeth. Mira then wrapped it tightly around the middle, crying out when she pulled too tight. There was an explosion of spiritual pressure, signaling the arrival of Ichigo. Mira chuckled, lying back on the ground.

"Ichigo... don't you dare loose..." she whispered out loud.

As Mira lay in the street, the battle was going on around her. One by one, she felt the spiritual pressures of the Arrancars disappear. The Soul Reapers' were winning, for now, but Aizen most likely had a plan up his sleeve.

She coughed, blood coming to her lips. Mira growled in response, pulling herself back into a sitting position so she wouldn't choke on the liquid. It was painful, and the Captain cried out. However, she refused to shed tears.

"Captain!" a voice cried out in the distance. "Captain Kurosaki!"

Mira stared at the ground, her eyes growing heavy. As her body pitched forward, a hand grasped her good shoulder, holding the young woman up. "Captain!" She was pulled into a sitting position again, before her back leaned against the person's chest.

"Izuru..." Mira whispered. "The others..."

"Are fine and being healed," he reassured her, placing his hand over Mira's wounded stomach. She screamed as spiritual pressure poured into the wound, making it burn. "You, on the other hand, are another matter. Why did you refuse healing?"

"Momo, Rangiku, and Shuuhei... were in more need of it then I was..."

Izuru chuckled lightly. "They may have been, but now you're in as worse shape as they were."

"Were?" A light smile came to her lips. "Well... as long as they are fine..."

Izuru shook his head lightly, pouring more power into his hand. Mira gasped, gripping his leg tightly in response. "We need to get you to the Fourth Division tent. I'll be able to close up your stomach to move you, but you need to be seen by the Captain or Lieutenant for your shoulder.

"You're doing enough," she grunted. "What of the ones that went to Hueco Mundo?"

"For the time being they are trapped, but I have no doubt that Captain Kurotsuchi is coming up with a way to get them back."

Mira chuckled. "Of course he is."

"Captain Unohana has been able to pass through with your brother, Ichigo. I'm taking you to her." Izuru removed his hand, shifting so he could stand and pull Mira up beside him. She bit her lip from the pain that rushed through the shoulder. "Hold on," the Lieutenant spoke, pulling the young woman onto his back and hooking his arms under both legs. Mira managed to wrap her good arm around Izuru's neck.

He rushed off towards Unohana, Mira's head resting against his shoulder. "Izuru..." she spoke tiredly. "Tell... Captain Kuchiki..."

"Tell him yourself," Izuru ordered, running faster. "You're not going to die."

Mira's lips twitched in a smile. "No, I know that... you can't get rid... of me that easily... But, tell him... to come and see me..."

"Of course, Captain." Mira then slipped under.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"... ir... a... Mir... Mira..." She groaned, her body sore all over. "How long do you plan on sleeping?"

Her eyes cracked open, the light blinding. Mira blinked her eyes rapidly, trying to clear them. The Captain's eyes then focused on Byakuya, who sat beside her bed. "Byakuya..." she whispered, smiling lightly. "Welcome home..."

A smile twitched as his lips. "How are you feeling?"

"Like I was hit by an Arrancar." Byakuya chuckled at her ill joke. "How are the others?"

"Well, most of those who were injured are up and walking. There are only a few, including you, still in the Fourth Division recovering."

"I take it we won then..."

"Thanks to your brother. He was most unpleased when he saw you before he engaged Aizen."

"Where is he now?"

"In Karakura."

Mira noticed something flash through Byakuya's eyes. "What's wrong? Has something happened to him?" she asked with worry, trying to sit up.

Byakuya helped. "He has lost all of his Soul Reaper powers. I'm sorry, Mira, but your brother will never be able to come back to the Soul Society ever again."

A pain gripped at Mira's heart, but she knew that there was nothing that could be done. On top of that, she was happy for him. He was still human after all, and needed a normal life.

Mira's thoughts were broken when Byakuya placed a hand on hers. "You need to be more careful," he said, a serious look in his eyes.

"I'm sorry, but that beast I went up against was a handful."

"Yes, your Lieutenant told me so. She's been in here checking up on you every day. It ripped out Lieutenant Matsumoto's stomach, broke Lieutenant Hisagi's bones with one grip, and crushed your Lieutenant's insides with a punch. I know that was a difficult battle for you."

"What about you?" she asked. "What happened in Hueco Mundo?"

"I killed the Seventh Espada, and saved Rukia."

Mira smiled, caressing Byakuya's hand with her thumb. "What now?" she whispered.

With his other hand, Byakuya lightly stroked Mira's cheek. "You're going to get better. After all, your shoulder was nearly ripped from your body."

"Yeah, I bet that wasn't a pretty sight." She could feel the bandages under the white hospital kimono. "Then what?"

"Well... I was going to wait till later..." Byakuya fished through his pocket, pulling out something and slipping it onto Mira's finger. She looked down, eyes widening. "But I was thinking a ceremony could take place."

Mira smiled widely up at Byakuya. "Of course," she laughed, tears forming in her eyes. A smile came to Byakuya's lips, making him look beautiful in Mira's eyes. "Of course," she whispered, pulling him in closer. Their lips locked in a passionate kiss. Though her family could not experience her happiness, one day, one day, just maybe, they would be able to see her and the family she had created in her new life.
