Sitting in potions next to Cedric, as he was still my partner for the class, we were making a potion and talking about the last task.
"Nervous?" I ask him.
"A little, we know the task just not what's inside it." He replies quietly.
"I understand, if you need any help with spells just ask." I whisper back.
"What about Harry?" He replies back.
"His fine, he has Hermione and Ron." I reply, "I mean I would offer more help but I think those two are good enough."
"I suppose you could help yeah, I just need to see when I'm free from doing school work and seeing Cho." He whispers.
"Still going good with you both then?" I ask.
"Yeah, it's going great with us." He replies.
We finish the potion and the class is dismissed as my friends and I walked back to the Gryffindor common room.
"So have either him or Cedric told you anything about the last task?" Jack asks as we walk through the dungeons.
"Just that it's a maze, they aren't supposed to tell the rest of us too much and that is all I know." I tell them all.
"I suppose that is true, do you think there's creatures in there?" Alicia asks.
"Most probably," I reply.
"Scary though, I'm glad I didn't get chosen now." Angelina says.
"Yeah so am I, I don't think we really thought of how bad it could be." Melody says as we walk up the stairs.
"Yeah, hopefully they will all be fine." I say, clutching some books in my hands.
"Considering the past, I should hope so." Alicia replies.
"Yeah, it kind of seems a bit idiotic that they brought it back knowing the risks, I just hope no one dies." Angelina says, with an unsure expression on her face.
"Yeah, I can't wait to see this task though." Jack says, "it's going to be the best one considering it's final task, they are going to make it bigger and better."
"I suppose that's true." I say as we walk up the stairs with the portrait hole at the top of them.
"Password?"
"Fairy lights." Melody says and the portrait opens.
"So, what are the plans for the summer?" Jack says, changing the conversation topic.
"I'm not sure yet, probably just another summer, chilling around the burrow." I reply, "but we never know, we will see closer to the time, we should all try and meet up again."
"Yeah we should, I think we should all check with our families what we are doing over the summer though, before making plans." Angelina says.
"Yeah," we all say in unison.
"The boys are probably up in the dorm, I'll go and get them." Jack says before disappearing up the stairs.
"So, Melody, what are you and Jack planning on doing over the holidays?" I ask.
"I think we are taking it in turns at staying at each others houses, which will be fun. Last time his family were so lovely, his mum is amazing." Melody replies with a smile on her face.
"She is an amazing woman, from what you and Jack have both told us, she sounds like a bad bitch and doesn't care about anyone's opinions." I say.
"Oh she is." Melody replies with a massive smile on her face.
"Hey beautiful." I hear Fred, from behind me.
"Hey." I say as he sits next to me.
"I cannot wait for the summer." Lee groans.
"One year left after that, feels weird to say that." Melody says.
"Yeah it does this time six years ago we were all kids, not knowing where life will lead us." I say as we sit in a group.
"That's true, never thought we would be where we are now, this time next year we will be finishing and moving on to being adults." Angelina says.
"Us as adults?" George asks laughing.
"You mean you and Fred, you are both very childish." Alicia replies.
"And Lee." I add.
The three turn towards us with pouty faces on.
"Us childish?" Fred asks.
"Yes." Jack and us girls reply.
"George even admitted it, you aren't close to acting like adults." Angelina replies.
"She's got a point, you three are always acting like children, although it is pretty amusing." I say.
"We know." All three of them say in unison.
"Got much work to do?" George asks us all.
"A bit, yeah." Angelina says and I sigh.
"What's up?" Fred turns to me as the rest of the group carry on talking.
"I honestly wish I didn't take so many classes, I suppose only a few weeks until we leave for the summer." I say smiling at him.
"That's true, summer of no school work and messing around, making new joke shop products." He says to me.
"That sounds fun, I can't wait for it." I reply to him.
"I suppose we should get to the library," I hear Alicia day to the rest of the group, "y/n, Fred you two coming?"
"Yeah, Fred?" I ask him and he nods his head.
We all go and collect our books for the subjects we need to do homework and essays for. Then making our way to the library sitting around the table with all of us writing whilst the Lee, Fred and George sit there talking about joke shop products.
"Do you three ever talk about anything else?" Melody asks still writing, not looking up from her piece of parchment.
"Nope." I reply.
"We do, just this stuff is important to us." George replies.
"Exactly." Lee replies.
"Priorities." Fred says.
We carry on writing whilst the other three keep talking to each other, not being that quiet. I finish my pieces of work before the others, then resting my head on the desk.
"When's dinner?" I ask the group.
"Should be starting in about ten minutes," George says looking at the clock. "We best get going, so you can all take your stuff back."
"Yeah." I reply.
We all gather our school stuff together, then heading back to the common to put our stuff back into our dorms then heading to dinner. We finish the night off sitting in the common room all chatting away then going to bed.
It was now the twenty-forth of June, the last task was happening today, with the nerve and excitement building up in the school. Over the last couple of weeks I had helped Cedric out with spell practicing, he told me he was feeling ready, I really hoped so.
I was sending more frequent letters to my dad, he was worried about this third task especially now that Dumbledore thinks Voldemort is getting stronger again, which worried me. Although I couldn't tell Fred he picked up in this and was worried about me to which I rushed it off as nothing.
This morning we had our usual classes, so we will head to them, with the task happening this evening. When McGonagall walked over to the table and started talking to Harry.
"Potter, the champions are congregating in the chamber off the Hall after breakfast." She said.
"But the tasks not until tonight!" Harry said confused.
"I'm aware of that, Potter, the champions' families are invited to watch the final task, you know, this is simply a chance for you to greet them."
I looked at Harry confused, who were they going to invite the Dursley's or my dad who is meant to be in Askaban. With McGonagall walking away.
"She doesn't expect the Dursley's to turn up, does she?" Harry asked Ron.
"Dunno, Harry I'd better hurry, I'm going to be late for Binns. See you later!" Ron says before walking off.
"I'll be back in a minute." I tell my group.
"Harry!" I say walking a couple of metres down the table.
"Y/n." He says as he finishes his breakfast.
"I heard about family, who do you think it is?" I ask him.
"Can't be the Dursley's can it?" He asks.
"They wouldn't come here in a million years," I say, "if you want me there just ask, you are family after all, I'm sure they can let it slide." I say with a small smile.
"Thank y/n I appreciate the support, I guess I should see who it is. I'll see you later." He says before moving to the chamber off the Hall and I walk back to my friends.
"What's up with him?" Melody asks.
"He has family waiting in the chamber off of the Hall not too sure who it is." I say.
"Couldn't be those horrible aunt and uncle of his surely?" Jack asks.
"I'm not sure, although we should make our way to Defence Against the Dark Arts, then we have double free before lunch because of the exams." I say.
We all walk to DADA with Moody going on about stuff, Cedric was absent from the lesson for obvious reasons, we then walked to the common room.
We sat talking for a while before Fred and I snuck upstairs into his dorm as this was one of the last chances we will get together before going back to the burrow for the summer.
"You know this uniform looks better off." Fred whispers into my ear between breaks of kissing.
"Couldn't agree more," I say as he kisses my neck unbuttoning my shirt, when the door burst open and Fred jumped to my side somehow pushing me off of the bed.
I peak my head over the bed to see Molly and Bill, with all of our friends and Harry chuckling behind them.
"Mum? Bill? What are you doing here?" Fred asks nervously, with both of us red from embarrassment.
Molly had a very stern look on her face like she was going to kill us both.
"Stopping you from having my grandchildren I see." She says which makes everyone laugh even more, but Fred and I got even redder as I slowly button my top back up.
"Seriously what are you doing here?" Fred asks.
"We are here to support Harry and he was giving us a tour round, good thing we walked in when we did." Bill says sniggering a laugh.
"We weren't doing that!" Fred tries to argue which makes things worse.
"Both of your faces say otherwise, we will talk about this later." Molly says before her, Harry and Bill leave and the others walk in still laughing.
"You should of seen your faces," George said laughing.
"Y/n the way you had to slowly do your shirt up." Melody starts laughing.
"Did none of you try to stop her?" I ask.
"Well we tried, but George thought it would be funny to let her see for her reaction and we'll he was right it was pretty funny." Alicia replies.
"She's going to murder us both." I say to Fred.
"Yeah, I know." He says.
"She really is." George replies, "might make you sit a few feet apart at all times, what is she tells Sirius?"
"I hope she doesn't, but I know she will." I say back.
"Oh he is going to kill you Fred, remember the letter?" Lee reminds us both and I bury my head in my hands in embarrassment.
"And I'm going to kill George." I say.
"Try me." He replies and I stand up.
"I wouldn't try that," Fred says pulling me back.
"Die." I say.
"Well we should head to lunch." Melody says.
We head to lunch and see Molly and Bill sitting at the Gryffindor table with Harry.
"I'm not eating," I say trying to turn around but it's too late Molly spotted us and waved us over, the rest of the group with the exception of Fred, George and I sat in our normal spot as the rest of us sat with Molly, Bill and Harry.
We sat there awkwardly for a moment as I put the food on my plate with Fred next to me on one side and George the other.
"Maybe you two should sit apart." Molly suggests.
"This is a room full of people, mum, seriously?" Fred questions.
"Fine, but I will be taking with you both later and don't think I'm not telling your father about this." She says as I eat.
Ron and Ginny then arrive at the table surprised to see Molly and Bill sitting at the table.
We sat talking and eating until lunch ended and we headed for the last two lessons of the day before heading to the common room.
"Wait so mum caught Fred and y/n?" Ginny asks and starts laughing.
"Who told her?" I ask and George starts laughing.
"I told you once today I would kill you don't think I won't." I tell him.
"So it's true then?" Ginny pushes.
"Clearly." I reply bluntly, feeling my cheeks burning up again.
We all went to get changed into our own clothes before heading down to dinner for the feast. This feast was bigger than the usual special occasion ones, with more courses.
We all ate talking about the task that evidently everyone but Harry was excited for, I then see Cedric on the Hufflepuff table looking nervous.
"Guys I'll be back in a minute," I tell the group before I quickly walk off to the Hufflepuff table.
"Cedric, I hope everything goes well," I say pulling him into a quick hug, "I hope all of our efforts paid off."
"Thank you, y/n, your help was amazing, I'll see you after the task."
"Good luck." I say before pulling him into another hug, then leaving the table so we could all continue eating.
I sit back on the table when Dumbledore rose to his feet at the staff table, and silence fell across the room.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, in five minutes tune, I will be asking you to make your way down to the Qudditch pitch for the third and last task of the Triwizard Tournament. Will the champions please follow Mr Bagman down to the stadium now." He announced.
Harry got up, along with all of the other champions as the whole Gryffindor table cheered on Harry as he made his way out of the Great Hall.
We all finish eating and I turn to the twins, "I'll keep Molly and Bill distracted so you can do the bets."
"Thank you, y/n, can you save us some seats as well?" George asks.
"Of course I can." I say.
Dumbledore then said we can all make our way to the quidditch pitch and I walk with Molly and Bill keeping them distracted.
"But if you are, I want you both to be safe, I don't want to be a grandma to my seventeen year old, if it was Bill or Charlie it would be different." Molly says, she's been lecturing me for the past five minutes as Bill walks with us looking amused.
"Molly, we aren't stupid, I don't want to be a mum yet either, I don't even know how to look after children." I say, "I don't think my dad would appreciate that either."
"Well at least you are being sensible, you are both of age so I shouldn't lecture you too much." She says.
"Where are Fred and George?" Bill asks and I shrug my shoulders, knowing what they are actually doing.
We walk into the quidditch pitch which now looked completely unrecognisable.
"If Oliver was here, he would kill someone." I say laughing as we make our way to the row of seat which my friends along with Ginny, Hermione and Ron were sitting on with five more spaces.
Everyone was talking excitedly and I watch as Bill eyed up Fleur.
"Someone caught your eye?" I ask him as Molly talks to Ginny.
"I don't know what you mean." He replies.
"You do, Fleur Delacour, she is pretty although she might be a little young for you." I say teasing him.
"I'm not interested in her like that, but yes she is pretty." Bill replies as Fred and George take their sits, Fred next to mine and George a few people down next to Jack on one side and Lee on the other.
Ludo Bagmans voice now booked through the crowd. "Ladies and gentlemen, the third and final task of the Triwizard Tournament is about to begin! Let me remind you how the points currently stand! Tied in first place, on eighty-five points each, Mr Cedric Diggory and Mr Harry Potter, both of Hogwarts School!" Everyone in the stands went crazy. "In second place, on eighty points, Mr Viktor Krum, of Durmstrang Institute!" There was another round of applause with less sound then from before. "And in third place, Miss Fleur Delacour of Beauxbatons Academy!" There was another round of applause.
I saw Harry and Cedric look up and I wave to them both as they wave back to the crowd.
"So... on my whistle, Harry and Cedric! Three... two... one..." bagmans whistle blew loudly and they both hurried into the maze that magically sealed up behind them.
With Viktor going a few minutes after them, followed by Fleur.
"What do you do know?" Fred asks.
"We wait I suppose." I say, as the music at the bottom of the stands slowly died down and chatter amongst the crowd started to take over.
"That's not true!" Angelina exclaimed.
"I mean it is." George replied back, the two were arguing about something and I wasn't sure what as I just stared at the maze.
"What's up?" Fred asks me.
"I have a feeling..." I confess.
"What kind of feeling?" He asks.
"Like something bad is going to happen.." I say.
"Try not to worry, I know Harry and even Cedric mean a lot to you, but stay calm it will be alright." Fred tells me convincingly, pulling me into his side.
We wait a while, with Fred joining in on the conversation as I just sat there in my own world, when red sparks come from the maze, a couple of minutes later Fleur came out shaking with Professor McGonagall and Viktor who looked like he had been possessed.
"Can I be worried now?" I ask Fred.
"Try not to be." He says playing with my hair in an effort to calm me down.
Everyone continues taking and we wait ages and after a while that gut feeling became even stronger.
"Fred something is really wrong, how can the two of them still possibly be in there it's been ages!" I say trying not to alarm everyone around us.
"Y/n you need to calm down." Alicia tells me which doesn't help.
"I have a really bad feeling and it's not going away." I say slightly louder then expected.
"You are just worried y/n I'm sure everything is fine, just relax." Melody says, as everyone near by is looking at me and I just sit watching the maze waiting for something to happen.
After what feels like forever Harry and Cedric finally appear but something isn't right... I could feel it.
Everyone runs over applauding the boys and Cedric doesn't move.
"Cedric's dead..." I whisper to Fred as I tear rolls down my cheek.
"No his not don't be stupid." He tells me and Fleur starts screaming which makes the crying heavier.
"Whats wrong?" Molly asks Fred as he comforted me.
"Cedric's dead." I say before sobbing harder.
Fred comforted me as cries now filled the stadium, instead of the cheers that filled it only minutes ago.
I just keep crying... I can't stop...
This is it the beginning of the end.
I wake up in Fred's bed, wondering what happened and then the events from last night filled my head and I started to cry again and felt Fred pull me into a tight hug.
"It's okay, I'm here and I'm not going to leave you until you want me to okay?" He asks and I nod my head.
Although Fred never really liked Cedric, he knew I was friends with him and wanted to comfort me all he could.
"Your dad was here last night to see you and Harry, but we thought it was best to just let you sleep." Fred says stroking my hair.
At breakfast Dumbledore made an announcement, I couldn't concentrate, he was a boy and he was killed by Voldemort... he will really stop at nothing to get what he wants.
The last week went by quickly in some way I didn't really pay attention to much, there was emptiness in my heart, I was packing my trunk to go back to the burrow for the summer, then heading to the Leaving Feast, I sat on my bed looking through my memory book, and there was a photo of Cedric and I from a few years ago at some quidditch game. I sat there crying, when I felt arms around me.
"Come on let's head to the feast." Fred says.
"Yeah." I say, wiping my tears away with the sleeve of my robes.
We walk into the Great Hall which would usually be covered in the colour of the house that had won the Inter-House Championship but instead there
