Third Person POV
a year later
"I have something to confess." V spoke into the mic, a little static through the mic came out causing a reaction from the audience.
"Who here remembers my one year hiatus?"
The crowd responded back in nods and yes's in unison.
"I want to come clean. I know that I owe you all an explanation for disappearing abruptly for a year."
It was all over the news, headlines all over the world, and trending on social media.
"BTS's V Announce Hiatus For Unknown Reason."
It all rooted from that night, the same night a year ago.
"A year ago, in this exact city, New York. I found the love of my life... again."
The audience all swooned in fangirl and some even chanted Jennie's name.
"No... it's not Jennie. Jennie and I, we were— uh- just good friends." V didn't exactly know how to nicely label Jennie and their relationship.
The members who stood behind him in their designated instruments all looked at each other, eyeing one another as this was all out of the schedule.
V noticed how his manager walked closer to the stage, creating an X with his arms, telling him to stop.
But V refused. He wanted to do this. He no longer had anything to lose.
"Six years ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life. I let the person I loved the most go."
"And you know what scarred me the most? I hurt her. I caused her pain that I know I can't undo."
"As undeserving as I knew I was, God finally answered my prayer, I met this person again."
"Just like any fool in love, I begged... I begged for her to give me another chance."
"But she didn't." A forced laugh came out from his lips. .
He didn't quite understand if it was pain he was feeling inside for recalling the past or nervousness for the response his actions will bring, but he knew he felt unsettled.
V needed some assurance, he scans the audience, trying to translate their response, and he can see them pout and look at him with pity.
"You all should see how you look right now, I didn't die everyone, no need to look so upset." V tried to add in humour as the atmosphere in the arena needed it.
"Well honestly looking back at it now, I deserved it."
"But if there was one thing I learned after losing her the first time, it was that, if you're lucky enough to be given another chance, you take it, you hold onto it, and you don't waste it."
"So that's what I did."
"So yeah you can say that the reason why I was away for a year was because, for this past year I pursued my happiness."
"This past year, I worked hard to show how much I am worthy. Worthy of gaining her, her trust, and her love."
"I found the romanticist in me again. I bought her flowers everyday, stayed up late for one single text, waited and waited hours for her to notice me at her front door, her rehearsals, bought her favourite morning coffee, talked to an automated voicemail for months, wrote endless love songs, and I could honestly go on for hours talking about everything I did."
"This was me for the past year, desperately in love, desperate to be noticed."
V paused. He closes his eyes as a tear slowly forms in his eyes.
This was it. He was giving it all up tonight.
"DID SHE TAKE YOU BACK!" A single loud voice screamed amongst the crowd.
V chuckled, hearing the fan's voice.
Several more began to chime in asking the same question.
"No.." V smiled, laughing at himself.
"But you know what I did get after all that effort?"
V saw the way the audience looked at him in anticipation, they were all too invested in this story and surprisingly they were taking it so much better than he had anticipated.
"I convinced her to watch tonight's concert." He shares.
Just in that instant. The crowd went wild. Some were squealing in excitement, some were looking around to spot the lucky lady, and others were hurt their favourite man was in love with someone other than themselves.
This was a long shot, V knew that. But after tonight, he promised himself that he would stop.
One year, that was all he needed, one year to win her back, and if after all of this her answer is still a no, he would let her go...
No matter how much it hurts.
"So please, Kim Jisoo. Will you give me another chance?"
Jisoo was seated nervously on her own, on the side. It was enough of a view for her, but hidden enough that people won't recognize her.
She hated it, this feeling. It was like she could throw up any moment from the nervousness. It was just a friendly invitation... right? Why was she so nervous about this?
It's no big deal... It's not like for the past year, he's been nothing but vocal in wanting her back. Totally friendly, yup.
Jisoo thought, after that night, everything regarding V had been cut off, that she finally detached the last string of any relationship they had left.
She was wrong, he was more persistent than ever.
Rosé should've come with her, but Rosé and Jungkook recently broke up... for the nth. Those two seemed to always break up and get back together, it was an on-going cycle. Something Jisoo thinks needs to be ended, permanently.
She mustered courage to be on her own, watching the concert alone, just like she did years ago.
The concert was going smoothly as normal, nothing beyond her imagination. Before she knew it, the concert was nearing its end.
Then V... V began to spew some nonsense to the audience.
Every muscle in Jisoo's body felt tight, even her heart. It's like it forgot to stop beating. Her usual calm facade was exchanged with flushed red cheeks, and an odd lingering feeling in her stomach.
The exact feeling she felt every time she was around V.
For the past year, Jisoo thought she could push him away, push these feelings away, feelings she thought dissipated years ago.
It was like all the feelings that remained dormant, are now activated and more alive than ever.
Jisoo listened carefully, to every word that left V's mouth.
Her eyes began to fill with glimmering tears, she covered her mouth to prevent sounds from coming out. She cried silently, the hardest she had in awhile.
Jisoo is tired from these feelings, tired of running away.
For the first time in a long time, she's finally going to accept it and face these feelings head on.
"So please, Kim Jisoo. Will you give me another chance?"
These words echoed loudly in her mind, failing to notice the loud squeals surrounding her.
Her heart pumping maximum, twice it's speed, all from the romantic excitement fueling within her.
If she could, she would run to his arms and say "YES" as loud as she can in front of these thousands of people, to finally be in his arms, to finally follow her heart.
Like deja vu, Jisoo was approached by two tall men in black,
"Excuse me miss Kim Jisoo, V's asking for you onstage."
the end.
