Steve held Natasha close to him as they exited the jet, hurrying slightly after Fury. Maria Hill walked over to them, joining them as they made their way into the building. "Hill, send a message to the Secretary of State alerting him that I want to have a word with him in 15 minutes."
"Of course sir."
"Romanoff, Dr Cho is going to give you an ultrasound to make sure that your baby is fine. She's been setting up in Banner's lab." Natasha nodded, shaking from shock. "We also think that it would be a wise idea for you to stay here for a while to make sure that nothing else too exciting happens." He added, not looking over his shoulder. Steve rubbed her shoulder supportively.

Fury lead them to the door to Banner's lab and opened it for them. "Whilst you two are in there, I'm gonna go and and give that stupid ass man a piece of my mind." Fury explained. "Oh, and Natasha, don't worry, it's just a precaution." He added, softer this time, giving her one of his rare smiles. He walked away, and Steve followed her into the lab.
"Hey." Bruce said, looking up from the bunch of wires in his hands. Placing them down, he moved over to them. He hugged Nat, an action that made Steve's blood boil slightly. "How're you guys doing?"
"We're pretty shaken up. We took quite a hit." Steve said, putting his hands in his front pockets. Nat wrapped her arms around herself, and looked around the room.
"I can imagine. Dr Cho just popped out to go and look for you. She won't be too long." Nat nodded, edging her way closer to Steve, leaning her head on his shoulder. He opened his arm round and tucked it around her. "So, what's going on exactly, Fury hasn't given me a lot of info since Thor dropped me off here?" He queried.
"It's our kid," Steve began, before Nat cut him off.
"We're having a baby, Bruce. I'm sorry you had to find out this way. And yes, Steve and I are together, if that was what you were about to ask."
"Oh, I see." Banner replied, looking slightly crestfallen.
"Ah, there you are, Captain Rogers, Agent Romanoff." Announced the arrival of Dr Cho.
"I'd better get going, then." Banner said, turning away and walking out of the room. Nat turned her head, but he was gone.
"Right, then, shall we get started then?" Dr Cho gestured to the bed next to her. Nat made her way over and sat down. "If you could just lie down for me, and lift up your shirt so that I can put some of this gel on your stomach. Just warning you, it is a bit cold." Nat lay down gently on the bed and lifted her shirt. Steve held her shaking hand as Dr Cho rubbed the gel on her stomach. She shuddered at the sensation; Steve stroked her hair. Dr Cho ran the transducer across, the sound waves creating an image on the screen above. She moved it around, looking for any sign of a heartbeat. Nat had a lump in her throat. What if she can't find it, she worried, what if there's no hope. Before she could fret anymore, they found it. It was the most beautiful sound. Nat gasped with joy, and Steve squeezed her hand as he kissed the top of her head. Their baby had survived.

"It seems as though everything is happy and healthy. Would you two like to find out the sex of your baby?" They looked at each other, and they both shook their heads. "That's fine. I'll leave you two for a minute." She exited the room. Nat and Steve kissed passionately, he ran his fingers through her hair as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"We certainly got lucky there, 'Tasha." Steve murmured as they let go.
"Yes we did." Nat agreed, her hands cradling her bump as tears of joy slipped down her face. Dr Cho re entered the room, a small photograph in her hand.
"Here you go, it's a picture of the ultrasound. You're next appointment should be in the next few weeks if you wish to take it."
"Thank you so much." Nat smiled, taking the photograph from her. Steve nodded as they exited the room, closing the door behind them.

Tony was waiting outside for them, leaning up against the wall. "Hey," He said, as he saw them. "How's the baby?"
"Everything's fine. We got lucky." Steve answered, hugging Nat tightly.
"Great, that's great. Right, we've had a slight remodel since the last time you guys were here, so I'm just gonna show you where you're staying."
"Ok." They walked down the corridor in an awkward silence, before reaching a door.
"Here you are, we transferred what was left in your rooms to here."
"Thanks." Nat said, her hand reaching for the handle.
"I'll leave you guys be. Dinner's at 7."
"Ok, thanks." Steve replied, following Natasha inside.

The room was spotless, with grey walls, beige wooden floor, and a light grey rug. There was a large double bed, with cream coloured cabinets on each side. Opposite the bed was a large cream dresser, with a full sized standing mirror next to it. Nat sat down on the bed, tired out. "I'm gonna message Wanda, let her know that everything's ok. You should do the same fore the guys, stop them from worrying." Nat yawned, reaching for her burner.
"Sure, but afterwards, promise me you'll get some rest. You're in dire need of it." He answered, sitting down beside her. She nodded, her fingers tapping away at the buttons. Once she had sent it, she curled up at his side, her head burrowed in his chest, and dozed off.

They both awoke to a knocking on their door. "Natasha, Steve," Pepper said from outside the door. "Dinner's almost ready. You may want to hurry up."
"Thanks Pep, we'll be right there!" Steve called, as Nat rubbed the sleep from her eyes. They both got up and got changed, Nat pulling out an oversized sweatshirt and leggings, Steve changing dingo a new shirt. As they finished cleaning themselves, they left the room, and made their way down towards the dining hall.
"Ah, Miss Romanoff, Mr Rogers, it's a pleasure to see you again." Vision called, standing up from his seat.
"It's good to see you too, Vis." Nat replied, taking a seat next to the synthezoid.
"What's for dinner?" Steve enquired, sitting down next to Nat.
"Fried chicken and rice, courtesy of Mrs Pepper Potts." Tony answered.
"You- you got married?" Steve stuttered in surprise.
"Yeah, it was a quiet ceremony, not many people came." He said.
"Tony, you, quiet?" Nat laughed, as she spooned rice onto her plate.
"Nat, that's quite a lot rice, 'Tasha." Steve said, eyeing her heaped plate.
"Um, excuse me? I'm eating for two here!" She rolled her eyes at him.
"I'm just saying, leave some for the rest of us." They all laughed, sitting down to enjoy their meal.
"So, Nat," Rhodey began. "How far along are you now?" Nat swallowed her mouthful of food before speaking.
"I'm at 16 weeks now, so just around 4 months."
"Do you know what you're having?" Pepper added, smiling at them.
"No, we want to keep it a surprise." Steve responded, as he and Nat looked at one another.
"Oh, old school! Of course Rogers would choose that option!" Tony smiled, looking down at his plate. Steve rolled his eyes and returned to his meal.
"Oh!" Natasha gasped, her hand flew to her bump.
"What's up?" Steve asked, looking alarmed.
"The baby's kicking!" She clasped his hand and placed it by hers. He beamed with pride as he felt the little bumps hit against his palm.
