Chapter Three - A Date Gone Wrong.
After everyone left to go home, I sat down in front of the fireplace thinking about how messed up my life was. My mate didn't want me, but now, he just declared he wanted to take me out. I didn't understand how you could so easily reject someone, and yet, expect them to fall over backward for them.
It was horrible and cruel.
I always wanted a mate, someone to call my own, but all I got was Nathan - the cruel, playboy Alpha's son who didn't care about me at all. How could someone be so unlucky to have all those cruel traits in a person?
The fire burned. I stared at the flames, just wishing they would stop the burn in my heart. I wished I didn't need him. I wished for a second mate, but I knew that would never happen.
No one in our pack has ever had a second mate, why would I be any different?
"You should really get to bed, Ava. You have your big date tomorrow," said my mother, walking into the room.
"He rejected me, and yet, you all expect me to fall backward for him," I said with a sigh.
"I know he has hurt you, but remember something, he's the Alpha's son. He's so young, and knowing he has to take on the responsibilities of our Pack as well as finding his mate, well...it would be confusing for any young man.'' Mother said as she slowly walked out of my bedroom.
I got up and walked into my bathroom. I changed into my PJ's; tomorrow was going to be a long day.

"I don't want you, Ava. Why would I want someone like you?" I stared into Nathan's eyes, feeling a tear drop to the floor.
"You are stupid, ugly and do I need to continue, pathetic little pup. That's all you are!" Nathan said as he continued to rip me into pieces.
"Please stop," I whispered as the pain of the rejection got too much.
I woke up from my nightmare; my breath got caught in my mouth. It was just a dream.
It was just a bad dream.
I walked into the bathroom and saw my tear stained face. I realised I was actually crying, the dream scared me that much.

I put some light make up and tied my hair back leaving some loose bits on the side. I walked downstairs, and was surprised to see Nathan was already in my house eating a bloody fry up meal, what the hell?
I don't even get that when I am good.
"Oh, you're here. Nathan was just telling me where he's planning to take you out," said mother as I shot glares at him. I was furious; especially knowing my nightmare was caused because of him. The pain he bought me in real life has turned my dreams into nightmares.
"Are you excited for our date, Ava?" asked Nathan with a smirk.
"No," I said simply like the weight has been lifted off my small shoulders. As I heard my mother growl at my rude comment, Nathan laughed, becoming amused with my behaviour.
"Oh, don't worry Ava, you'll forgive me in time," Nathan said as walked over to me. He pushed some of my loose pieces of hair away from my ear, and whispered, "You don't have much of a choice anyway.''
"You can't reject someone and expect them to suddenly want and love you, Nathan. I won't be one of those girls who forgive and forget," I said as I stormed off.
I slammed my door shut. I hated him so much. I am surprised I didn't murder him on the spot.
'You don't have much choice anyway.'
How bloody dare he? He wasn't an Alpha yet. He had no right to take my choices away. God, I was furious!
My door opened and he walked in, looking all smug and happy.
"You calm down yet, dear, you acted like a child downstairs." Nathan said. I glared at him.
"I'm just thinking, maybe I should mate with someone. You would then have no choice but to reject me properly, and I would be free and happy." I said as I skipped towards the window.
I heard a growl.
"You won't do such things." Nathan said.
"Ha, are you telling me that you haven't been with some slut?"
"No, I haven't, Ava; I wouldn't do that to you, especially knowing you would feel the whole thing. I am not that heartless, believe me.''
"The thing is..." I said as I tapped the glass in the window. "I don't believe you. In fact, I wish you would cheat so I could move on. I even have nightmares about you rejecting me. Why can't you leave me alone in peace, why must you always try to hurt me all the time?" I asked.
"Get ready for our date," said Nathan who once more decided to hurt me; he wouldn't even give me a straight answer.
"I'm already ready," I muttered. Nathan held the door open for me. As I walked through, I shot one quick glance at him and walked towards his car.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"The forest," he muttered.
How bloody romantic!

As soon as we got to the forest, I jumped out of the car and walked with Nathan. We walked in silence. I felt horrible knowing we were soul-mates, but yet I didn't feel anything apart from the bond we shared. I wished things were simpler. I wished I could walk into a room and see my true mate, who would look at me like I was the only person in the room and his heart. But, I knew deep down Nathan couldn't be faithful, even if he tried, and the worst part - I would try to make it work to please my family even if that made me unhappy.
"Why are we going to the forest?" I asked.
He rolled his eyes. I bit my lip. He had chosen to ignore me. This wasn't how it should be. My mate should love me unconditionally, no matter what.
Nathan came to a stop. He sat down on the wet grass, completely ignoring me. He kept giving me all of these mixed signals. I walked away from him. I got fed up and headed back home.
I didn't need this type of drama right now.
"Where are you going?'' He shouted. I turned around. His face was no longer fierce. A scared look came across his sharp features, and the worst thing about it was that I would have normally comfort him.
This time, I wouldn't. It hurt too much.
I turned around. I didn't realise how close he was to my lips.
"I give up, Nathan, I can't keep doing this," I said.
"Just give me a chance to prove myself," Nathan said.
I shook my head. He lost his temper and hit the tree behind me, missing me by an inch.
"No, I will not and I have no intention to. Do you know what it felt like to be rejected; it felt like a pain in my heart that would never go away," I said.
We stared in each other eyes. His hand rose. He pulled his finger along my lips. It was such a gentle moment, but then, his phone went off. I watched him pick it up and speak to someone.
"Hey, Cindy. Yeah, I'll be finished soon. Love you, babe." Nathan said.
My world stopped. Did he just say 'love you'? Is that why he rejected me?
He sighed and ran his finger through his hair. "Listen, I have to go. I'll see you soon though," he said as he kissed my forehead.
"No, you won't! I...Ava Thomas, reject you on the grounds of cheating and lies. The bond we once shared is over now. Go and be with your whore," I spat as the bond broke.
"I'm sorry you had to find out like that, Ava," said Nathan.
"Don't... just go,'' I said. Nathan walked ahead, leaving me in the woods by myself.

I took my clothes off and went for a run.
I need to be free, even if it was for just a moment.
I ran without a stop, leading to a place of the unknown. Where was I? My ears picked up some sound.
I listened intently.
"I swear if Hunter doesn't get over Joanne, he'll never be an Alpha. He needs to move on, whether he likes it all not." A man said.
"He was cheated on and rejected, Tom. Give him a break. The pain he's going through must be hard. Imagine if that was you.'' Another man said.
I must be on someone else's land. Damn it, father was going to be pissed. I crept forward, and noticed the two men were shirtless. They weren't bad to look at. One of them had long brown hair that went past his neck, while the other one had dark black hair.
They stopped to sniff the air. Oh, God, I forgot they could smell me.
"Well, aren't you a cute little wolf," The man with black hair said as he spotted me. I tried to walk away, but soon banged into someone.
It was the other man.
"Change, now!" The brown-haired said. He must be the Beta.
He chucked his shirt on the floor. They both turned away for me to change back into my human form. I quickly put his shirt on and moved my hair. It fell down below my waist.
"I'm sorry, I didn't realise how far I was out from my Pack." I whispered as they faced me. Their eyes held shock, for some reason.
"Why are you here anyway?''
"My...mate...rejected and cheated on me. I completed the rejection process and felt the need to run. I'm so sorry, I'll leave right now." I begged.
"I'm sorry, but I need to take you to our Alpha, Hunter Cross. He's fair. Don't worry, you'll be fine.''
"Sure," I said.
"What's your name?".
"Ava, you?" I asked.
"I'm Tom and this is Elijah. I'm the beta and he is fourth in command."
I nodded. We walked towards their Pack House. As I got near, I stopped. What if he killed me for being on his land?
"You'll be fine, stay here." Elijah said, patting me on the back like a stray dog.
I waited for what seemed to be forever. Tom came in and escorted me to meet the alpha. His hand stayed on my back as he gently pushed the door open to lead me through. Tom and Elijah walked away, leaving me completely alone. As the room was lit with bright yellow light, it showed a dark red wall. It was very gothic looking, almost like a prison.
The Alpha sat in a leather chair. "I'm sorry I was on your land, sir. I didn't realise how far I was out," I said breaking the silence.
My wolf purred. I could smell a beautiful smell, almost like strawberry and bananas. The Alpha spun his chair to face me.
I held my breath.
He was stunning! Short blond hair with dark ocean blue eyes, he also didn't look in a bad shape. We stared at each other as walked towards me.
Hunter moved my hair and sniffed my neck "You already have a mate, I heard.''
"He rejected me," I said, normally it would have hurt to say that, but I didn't feel anything.
"Well, he is clearly a fool," Hunter said as his eyes took my view. ''Whose shirt is that?''
"One of your men, they were very kind," I heard a growl. "They didn't watch as I got changed if that is what you worried about. They turned around, I checked," I said. Hunter looked at me with a smirk, I think he realised I was naked underneath.
He stared at me and lowered his head. He lifted my face and licked my lips. I opened my mouth slightly, he took the opportunity to put his tongue in. I moaned and felt the passion flowing through me.
I lost control; our wolf seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I broke away. I couldn't do this. "I'm sorry, but I don't normally kiss people I don't know
," I said."I heard you was rejected too," I muttered. I did wonder if he would get back to her.
"It was meant to be,"
"Why." I asked. He smirked at me.
"I'm not just a stranger, Ava, I am your second chance mate," Hunter said.
I froze.
