For years Duncan Slopes was the most popular girl in school until he returns for his senior year as himself, as a boy. Myers Lakey, who spent his summer in a psychiatric hospital, has always been the school loser. When circumstances push them together, Duncan and Myers hatch a plan. To thwart their bullies and queerphobic peers, they will pretend to be happy no matter what. But, as their fake dating commences, Myers begins to develop feelings for Duncan that he tries to ignore while Duncan navigates retaining a swimming scholarship to Duke since coming out as trans and interacting with his ex-boyfriend Connor amid Myers' feelings for him and, perhaps, his burgeoning feelings for Myers. Exploring the spectrum of queer joy, as well as the route we take to get there, *Happier than You Think* is a funny and heartwarming story about merging who we are with who we want to become.**All chapters now posted**â€Ķ

Parker claims he thinks the trip will be good for both of their mental states as well as his own cancerous lungs but, really, he wants to help Auley begin to heal from the trauma of his tumultuous childhood so that he can finally begin to mourn her. However, the pair get more than they bargained for when strange women who look like Auley begin to appear around the farmhouse. As the days go by, Auley begins to become affected by a mysterious dark presence that hangs over the property, suffering injury after injury to his already scarred body before, finally, realizing that he's fallen pregnant. Struggling with whether or not to keep the fetus at the risk of his own health, Auley and Parker's peaceful trip suddenly becomes a fight for their lives an ancient familial curse vies for control of Auley's womb and the embryo it holds. **This work of literary horror is a queer-inclusive, trans take on womb horror or the popular niche of horror stories involving pregnancy and "motherhood"."**â€Ķ
