Ashton Stanton has lived in the small country town of Bolton for her entire life. She is known across town as the Mayor of Bolton's daughter and she has been perfectly content living up to her family's high expectations, until her brother and best friend Tommy becomes one of five students killed in a shooting at Bolton High School.Ashton struggles with the reality of her brother's death and her perfect family faΓ§ade slowly begins to unravel as they all break under the weight of grief that follows in the wake of Tommy's death.Feeling lost and alone Ashton finds herself spiralling down into a dark abyss of despair and the unlikely association of a young boy named Wesley Martin is the last thing that she ever imagined would help her get through these hard times. Testrata is all that remains of planet earth. What was once a healthy, living planet is now a land riddled with unnatural effects from years of human mistreatment and pollution. Seventeen year old Arden is a Norm, and what is left of the original human race. She has spent her entire life inside of the government built facility called the Crestacon, the only place in Testrata where Norms can survive. Under the protection of the Mutes, genetically mutated human soldiers who have no emotions, the Norm population is surviving, but should they step outside of the Crestacon walls, the Norms will die. At least that is what Arden was always told, and what she had always believed until she breaches the walls of her home, and survives. Confused by her survival and the discovery of a boy outside of the Crestacon walls Arden begins to question everything she has ever been told. Her life rests in the hands of the young Mute soldier who caught her outside of the walls, and Arden begins to realise that there is far more to the world than the Crestacon Officials let on. Caught between the boy from beyond the walls, and the Mute who seems more like a Norm than anything else Arden must figure out what is real and whether her home is the sanctuary she always believed it to be, or if it is really just a prison.…
