The royal family, once the symbol of power and honor, had been mercilessly dethroned and their people subjugated by the conquering Vampires. In the wake of that dark period, decades had come and gone, scattering the remnants of the High Shifters to the four winds.Ash had been a mere child when the loyal servants of the Royal family were plunged into a life of slavery. She, too, had been caught in the oppressive grip of a Vampire master, who wielded her as a tool for any purpose he saw fit. Whether it was carrying out an assassination of a rival, serving as arm candy for a prestigious event, or even orchestrating a hot date, she had no say in the matter.Her life was constrained further by the presence of a magic-suppressing shackle, a cruel reminder of her servitude.
