I remember the day clearly. I was pitching in the semi-finals of my state softball game. I wasn't that good, but yet my team had complete and utterly faith in me. I wasn't fast and overpowering, but I was hard and in control.We was just ending our sixth inning. There was two outs thanks to strikeouts. We was winning, but I didn't know how much since I never pay attention to the fine details. I always play like it's a 0-0 ballgame going into the tenth inning.That was when tragedy stuck my small southern Wisconsin team, or really just me. The count was 1-2 and I was throwing a low, riser. The girl got a lot on it and whipped it right into my face, or so I was told. I don't remember anything after I released the ball for almost a year.Because of that hit, I went into a coma for over ten months. I missed everything. My team winning it all, and more importantly, the Cubs winning the World Series.…
