As consciousness slowly returned, your vision remained hazy, shapes and colors blending together in a disorienting blur. Through the fog, a figure began to materialize, the outline of blonde long hair cascading around them like a veil.
"Julie...?" Your voice was barely a whisper, tinged with uncertainty as you struggled to make sense of your surroundings.
"No, not Julie," a calm voice replied as your vision gradually cleared. Dr. Flowera's form came into focus, her presence reassuring amidst the disorientation. A small light illuminated her hand as she examined your pupils, checking for signs of responsiveness.
"Ah...?" You blinked, feeling the wave of nausea wash over you.
"Careful," the doctor scolded gently, her voice laced with professional sharpness. "You have a concussion," she explained as your gaze flickered to the bandages wrapped around your upper elbow, cheek, and head.
"How bad...?" You inquired, your voice laced with apprehension.
"Pretty bad," Dr. Flowera replied solemnly, her expression mirroring the gravity of the situation.
Her words brought a sense of relief as you struggled to sit up, the events of the recent confrontation flooding back to you. You glanced around, taking in your surroundings, and realized that you were no longer in the car.
"What happened?" you asked, your voice still groggy from unconsciousness.
The doctor's expression was blank as she explained the events that had transpired. She recounted how you and Walden had been attacked, her hand waving around and noting how you literally took a solid hit at the back of your skull after being attacked.
"Fuck," you cursed, hissing from dizziness, earning a deadpan look from the doctor as you heard a door open.
As Dr. Flowera finished explaining the extent of your injuries, Walden entered the room, his expression guarded as he listened to her assessment.
"Y/n has suffered a concussion, along with some cuts and bruises," Dr. Flowera began, her tone measured as she addressed Walden. "They'll need plenty of rest and monitoring to ensure there are no complications."
You could sense the concern in Walden's demeanor, despite his attempts to mask it with questions and a blank expression. His eyes flickered to you every so often, a silent acknowledgment of his worry.
"Will they be okay?" Walden asked, his voice betraying a hint of uncertainty.
Dr. Flowera nodded reassuringly. "With proper care and rest, they should make a full recovery," she assured him, her tone calm and reassuring.
"I see" Walden sighed as he looked at you for a moment, he has a bandage across his cheek
Probably noticing your glaring stare, Walden said "just a punch"
"Oh thank god then" you sighed as you closed your eyes for a moment before you sat up immediately, getting a shooting pain, Walden reached out to try and steady you as you said "the rabbit guy! What was that?? "
Your body protested as you tried to sit up, pain radiating from your injuries as you shot a questioning glance at Walden.
"What the hell was that? What happened, and where is he now?" you demanded, your voice tinged with urgency and confusion.
Walden hesitated for a moment, his expression unreadable as he considered his response. "That... was unexpected," he admitted slowly, choosing his words carefully. "As for the rabbit man, he's... somewhere in the hospital."
You furrowed your brow, your mind racing with questions. "Somewhere in the hospital? Shouldn't we go after him?" you pressed, a sense of unease creeping over you.
Walden shook his head, his expression grave. "No, we have more pressing matters to attend to," he replied firmly. "For now, focus on getting some rest and recovering from your injuries."
Reluctantly, you settled back against the pillows, your mind still reeling from the events that had unfolded. Despite Walden's reassurances, a sense of unease lingered, leaving you with more questions than answers.
Later, as you attempted to shift in bed, Walden noticed your discomfort and suggested moving to a wheelchair. You agreed, but before you could protest further, he scooped you up in his arms, carrying you bridal style and placing you gently in the wheelchair.
"Sir! " you yelled in which he just roamed and rolled his eyes
You couldn't help but complain about being treated like a damsel in distress, but Walden silenced you with a stern glare, his eyes conveying a message that brooked no argument. Grudgingly, you relented, allowing him to take charge as he wheeled you through the hospital corridors, your mind still preoccupied with thoughts of the elusive rabbit man.
After walking for a while, Walden opened a door with a blue tint to it, you caught sight of Dr. Flowera, her back turned to you. She turned around upon hearing the door, her expression unimpressed as she glanced at both of you, likely noting that you shouldn't be out of bed. Before you could fully register her disapproval, your gaze shifted to the figure in front of her.
There he was, the rabbit guy, his attention fixed on his own legs as he swung them back and forth. His ears twitched at the sound of the squeaking wheelchair, but he didn't look up, seemingly lost in thought.
Dr. Flowera side-stepped, allowing you a better view of the enigmatic figure before you. Despite the gravity of the situation, you couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity and intrigue as you studied him.
He appeared somewhat improved, you observed, noting the white turtleneck peeking out from under his blue patient's shirt. His gray pants seemed much cleaner than before, giving him a slightly more put-together appearance. His front hair partially obscured his face, adding an air of mystery to his demeanor, his long messy hair now in a low ponytail.
You couldn't help but wonder about the bandages peeking out from his right arm. How extensive were his injuries, and what lay beneath those layers of gauze?
Walden whistled after a few seconds of silence and the bunny guy looked up immediately, head tilting to the side
Around his mouth are layers of bandage wrapped around it, they were clean obviously newly replaced, just right under his nose.
Finally, your gaze met his aquamarine blue eyes, a striking contrast against the white of his irises. They held a certain innocence, despite the circumstances, As he stood up, Dr. Flowera stepped back, her expression betraying a mix of surprise and confusion, silently questioning how Walden was able to communicate with the bunny guy so effortlessly
Walden gave a shrug as the... Weirdly soft footsteps of the bunny guy padded towards you and Walden,
You noticed that this hybrid rabbit male's legs were bent, much like a mythical creature, like a feline, or well... A rabbit
"Well, here he is, pretty obedient for someone who was practically classified as... Something something" Walden commented from above you leaning on your wheelchair, walking away as he held the rabbit guy by the shoulder who gave him a side glance through droopy eyes
when you suddenly asked "what's his name? "
"He doesn't have one," Walden replied, his tone matter-of-fact. "He's just labeled as A-1721-A for now."
You couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for the rabbit-man. Being reduced to nothing more than a designation seemed dehumanizing, or in his case, de-animalizing.
"Can we give him a name?" you asked, glancing up at Walden with pleading eyes. "He deserves to be called something other than a number."
Walden hesitated for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, with a thoughtful nod, he conceded, "I suppose we could. Any suggestions?"
Your mind raced as you considered various options, but one name stood out above the rest. "How about... Thumper?" you suggested tentatively, a hint of uncertainty in your voice.
Walden looked up at the rabbit-man expectantly, awaiting some sign of approval or disapproval for the proposed name. The rabbit-man blinked slowly, his aquamarine eyes reflecting the dim light of the room. Walden shook his head slightly, interpreting the lack of response as a sign of indifference, a next level of understanding.
You glanced up at the rabbit-man, studying his aquamarine eyes for a moment. Then, an idea struck you. "How about Aqua?" you suggested tentatively, meeting Walden's gaze for approval.
Walden considered the name for a moment before nodding in agreement. "Aqua it is," he declared, his voice firm with finality.
As the name settled over the rabbit-man, he seemed to react positively, a faint glimmer of recognition sparking in his eyes. "Aqua," you repeated softly, the name rolling off your tongue with a sense of resonance.
"I still wonder how you can order him with a whistle" flowera spoke up then as she walked and stood beside the rabbit guy, or aqua now that you call him
"Just... Some things" Walden said as he said "is he uh... Ready now? "
"Kind of"
You looked at both of them back and forth as the conversed,
Reminding you of... The old days, of Julie
How was Julie...? You haven't talked to her in a while...
As Walden conversed with Dr. Flowera, As Walden conversed with Dr. Flowera, his whistle caught Aqua's attention, prompting the rabbit-man to approach. You watched them interact for a moment, noting the subtle shift in Aqua's demeanor as he seemed to respond to Walden's presence
You observed the interaction between them, noticing how Aqua's demeanor seemed to soften in Walden's presence
Then, something caught your eye—Aqua's small, fluffy tail was wagging gently from side to side. It was a peculiar sight, reminiscent of a contented animal rather than a humanoid hybrid. The movement seemed involuntary, driven by some instinctual response to the situation
He has a tail
A TAILLLL!
You couldn't help but wonder about the significance of this behavior. Was it a sign of Aqua's comfort or perhaps a manifestation of his hybrid nature?
THAT IS A TAIL SO FUCKIN CUTEEEE
As you let out a small squeal of surprise, both Walden and Dr. Flowera turned their attention towards you, their expressions a mix of curiosity and concern. Embarrassed, you quickly tried to cover up your outburst by commenting on Aqua's peculiar footsteps.
"His footsteps sound... Weird," you muttered, cringing inwardly at your own awkwardness.
To your surprise, Walden seemed enlightened by your observation. Without hesitation, he leaned down and lifted one of Aqua's legs, causing the rabbit-man to fall to the ground with a soft thump. You and Dr. Flowera gasped in unison, alarmed by Walden's sudden actions.
"Walden!"
"Mr Darling!"
You both exclaimed, your voice filled with disbelief as you watched Aqua sprawled on the ground.
Ignoring your protests, Walden gestured towards Aqua's foot, drawing your attention to the peculiar anatomy of his paw-like appendages. It was a strange sight, reminiscent of a rabbit's foot, complete with soft pads and delicate beans.
"It's a weird anatomy of sorts," Walden explained, launching into a detailed explanation as Aqua lay on the ground, seemingly unfazed by the commotion. Despite the chaos, you couldn't help but find Aqua's paw beans oddly endearing, a small reminder of the unique nature of the creature before you.
Walden after explaining dropped the leg and lifted up the rabbit by the scruff of his clothes and straightened him up as he then looked at you
"Are your injuries not hurting now? " he asked calmly
"... Yeah... I guess" you said with a with as Walden nodded "good"
"We're going back in a few hours, I'll drop you off at your house" he offered so suddenly
Huh......
He still cared at least
The short time of being... Happy and... Seemingly back in the old days where you called this man 'Walden' where first names didn't feel foreign on your tongue
Your head started hurting more suddenly, this... Concussion sucks... So much it hurts
Physically and in your heart
"Thanks... "
