Linda ran down the hallway, opening a particular door with a satisfying click. She scanned the room, spotting a hunched-over Quinn. She flipped through a thick notebook, reading her notes quickly.

"Don't tell me you're reading during the weekend!"

Linda walked into the small room and sat down next to her. She groaned when she realized what Quinn was reading about.

"Shower thoughts. The best way to confuse someone and make them go crazy," She explained with a grin.

Linda grabbed the book off of the table, skimming through Quinn's notes.

"What is this stuff? It doesn't make any sense! Let's go have fun outside with everyone else!"

Quinn looked out the window, summers in Winchester always looked so welcoming, but she preferred winter. There was something about the glimmering snow and shining ice that seemed so enchanting, in a way that wasn't like the sun in the summer.

She did not go outside in the warm weather, her warm sweaters made it hard in the heat; she liked looking out the window more, especially when it rained. The pitter-patter of the cold water was soothing to her ears.

"Come on!"

Linda interlocked fingers with Quinn, pulling her out of the room. Quinn staggered behind the energetic girl as they ran across the corridor. As they reached the door outside, she could hear the orphans' chatter and loud footsteps.

The glowing sun shimmered in her brown hair; it was almost purple. Her feet were tickled by the warm grass, and her eyes sparkled as she admired the sight before her.

"There's someone I want you to meet, I think you've heard of him before!" Linda smiled happily.

The two of them looked across the grassy area, looking under trees, bushes, and whatnot in search of this mystery person. They reached a quiet clearing behind a loose part of the gate, a shining pond appearing in their view. Quinn spotted someone sitting under one of the overgrown trees.

"Look's like we've found him!" Linda skipped to the plant and sat down next to him. "Quinn, this is Matt. Matt, this is Quinn. I'm sure you've heard of each other before!"

Matt didn't seem to be paying attention, clicking away at the buttons on his Game Boy. With a bit of coaxing, Linda persuades him to properly introduce himself to Quinn, but she thinks that there is something else to it.

As the three continued to talk, they realized they got along quite well. For the rest of the afternoon, the trio explored the forest and played games together. It was almost as if the pressure of being gifted kids or competing with each other didn't matter.

Maybe it wouldn't be that bad to stay out for a while longer...
