averee stood leaning against the door frame of the cafe as zane pulled up on his motorbike, smiling at the girl as he took his helmet off. she stared deadpan at him as bella and rikki walked out of the cafe door, bella smiled at zane before grabbing at the bottom of averees shirt trying to pull the girl closer. averee smirked at the blonde, not budging as she watched bellas face fall, staring at the brunette with an annoyed expression, rolling her eyes turning around.

bella made eye contact with will who was standing off by the tables with his sister, she waved, hearing shuffling from behind her as she felt averees arms softly move around the girls waist as the brunette leant into her side. averee glanced over to will, seeing an annoyed expression on the boys face, making the girl turn back to bella with a small chuckle, "what?" the girl murmered as she smiled up at averee. the brunette just shook her head, holding a smug smile before the three walked away.

the girls went swimming, making eye contact with each other time to time, smiling. when they got to the moon pool, averee leant on the wall by bella. "that was so cool." bella half leant her arm on averee as she glanced over at rikki. "oh, it sure makes a change. theres so much to do at the cafe these days. i'm so stressed out." averee glanced around the cave, not too interested in the conversation. "you need more help." "thats why i'm interviewing for new staff this morning." averee nudged bella, raising her eyebrows at the blonde.

bella shook her head at the brunette with a smile, turning back to rikki. "how do you know you'll pick the right person?" rikki glanced around the cave, "oh, 5% reason, 95% instinct." she raised her eyebrows at bella, glancing behind her to see averee. "that scientific huh?" bella smiled at the girl. "well i've gotta see them almost every day." "what sort of experience are you looking for?" "not much. why?" bella tilted her body slightly off averee as she looked towards rikki, "well, i mean, i'd be interested in trying out." bella fidgeted with averees fingers as she anxiously looked at rikki. "sure." "yeah?" "yeah." the two smiled at each other, bella leaning further into averee as they sat in silence for a bit, enjoying each other's company.

averee went back with the girls to the cafe. bella kept assuring her she didn't need to but averee had nothing better to do. she spent most of her time by the cafe sketching in her book anyway. "it should be good, us working together." bella said as the three entered the cafe. "yeah well i'll just go tell zane and then we'll see if there's a uniform that fits." rikkis voice began wavering as the girl stopped walking with furrowed brows. averee leant on bella, looking over the blondes shoulder, following rikkis line of sight. the girls saw wills sister wearing a uniform. rikki walked towards the girl, bella following behind as she pulled averee by the hand.

"what are you doing here?" the red head glanced up, smiling. "rikki, right? i'm sophie. zane told me all about you when he gave me the job." the girl stuck her hand out to rikki, the two shook hands for a moment, "that's great, congratulations." rikki walked into her office, zane close behind. averee leant into bellas back as the blonde reached around trying to grab her hand, "hi we've met before." "yeah, i remember. can't stand around talking. i've got work to do." averee felt bella falter slightly. "hey don't waste your thoughts on her." averee mumbled, closing her eyes slightly. "by the way, you look really nice in yellow" she heard bella chuckle slightly. bella was glad the brunette couldn't see her face as she flushed red.

bella started her trial shift, telling averee she didn't have to wait around. yet the brunette didn't listen, averee sat in a booth sketching in her book, oblivious to the world around her. averee loved art, though she was never incredibly good at it, she was impatient so majority off her works consisted of messy scribbles. she almost only ever did self portraits that never looked like her. they were all destructive and dark, just messy patched of lines. she liked that about her art, she could almost turn herself inside out and draw herself for how she really was or how she truely saw herself at any given time and no one would ever know what any of it meant. it was the same reason she liked poetry, especially poetry only the writer could interpret. it was such a personal art form.

the second the girl pulled out her sketch book, rikki and cleo to it as a queue to not bother the girl. she usually got snappy or she'd just ignore everything anyway. bella, however seemed to never get that same treatment, the blonde had interrupted the girl many times and the brunette let her, she never got snappy or moody at her.

averee looked up, annoyed when she heard nate spit out his juice, going on about the juice being hot. the brunette glared as she watched bella frantically look around. the blonde made eye contact with rikki before looking over at averee. averees glare softened, she sent the girl a sympathetic smile as bella slowly walked away.

averee sat at mako by herself, after leaving the cafe, bella had gone to wills and the brunette took some time swimming by herself. she glanced around, humming softly as she sat, listening to the water before bella and cleo swam in, bella smiled at the brunette, moving to lean next to her as she grabbed averees hand. cleo watched the two with an amused smirk as she leant on the rock. averee looked up at cleo, she could tell something was bothering the girl.

"what is it?" averee spoke, giving the girl a soft smile. "maybe i'm not so cool about sam after all." the girl said looking straight ahead. "so, dont you want your dad to have a girlfriend?" bella said glancing at cleo. cleo looked between the two girls, "i thought i did. i mean they're great together, and everything. but i," cleo trailed off, looking up. "do you not like her?" "its not that. another person in my life is another person that i have to hide from." cleo abruptly stopped, looking towards the water as rikki swam in.

"hi guys." bella softly smiled at the girl as she leant into averees side. "are you still worried about the cafe?" "i know sophie needs a job, and she's really good but.." bella interrupted the girl, "give it to her. she needs it more than i do." "are you sure?" "yeah dont worry about it. i will happily stick to singing, ave says its what i'm best at." the blonde looked towards averee with a warm smile. "well that makes things a lot simpler. but you know theres something thats just not right about her. shes really, pushy." averee smirked, "hmm that reminds me of someone we know. maybe someone in this pool." cleo said glaring at rikki as the girl turned pointing at bella, looking back at cleo with a shocked face. bella giggled, pushing her head into averees shoulder as cleo just sighed.

bella had dragged averee with her the next morning to the cafe. she was determined to make amends with sophie and didn't want to go alone. averee walked behind the blonde as she kicked her feet. it was far too early and the brunette just wanted to be at home in bed. she wouldn't tell bella that though. she liked the girls company and if that meant having to leave her house early, she'd do it.

the girl stopped behind bella as the blonde went to speak to sophie. "hi. congratulations on the job." "yeah. what do you want." averee could see bella falter slightly, the brunette moved closer, putting her arm around the blonde's waist as she looked up, glaring at sophie. "well, you know that i'm a friend of your brothers." "so? do you wanna order or not?" the red head glanced at averee before looking back at bella with a sigh. "well, i was just hoping that we could be friends." bella leant slightly into averee as the brunette started drawing shapes into the girls side. "we don't have anything in common." "yeah but it might be nice for will." bella chuckled dryly, smiling at the girl. averee could tell bella was really trying. she didn't understand why. this girl was a nightmare. "let me worry about him, you just stay out of our way." "look, if i've done something i'm.." "excuse me. i'm busy." bellas shoulders fell as she turned to averee with an exhausted expression.

"god shes a bigger bitch than rikki." averee chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. bella rolled her eyes with a small smile as she glanced up at averee, she put her arms up around the girls neck, embracing the brunette with a hug. averees could feel her heart beating out of her chest as she stood there, a lump in her throat.

averee sat by bella at the cafe, her eyes glued to her hands as she pulled at her fingers, tuning the room out. bella sat with her legs crossed, glancing up at averee every so often. "why are you all alone?" rikki smirked at bella, looking over at averee who hadn't glanced up. "sometimes i prefer it that way." bella mumbled, looking at her lap. "i thought you would've been over there chatting up will. or cuddling your angry girlfriend over there." rikki said pointing at averee "mm." bella looked down blushing as she avoided rikkis gaze. "whats up? everything's alright, isn't it?" bella glanced up at sophie, as the red head glared back. bella looked down quickly before looking at rikki. "yeah, yeah, everything's fine." she smiled softly.

as rikki got back up to head to her office bella moved closer to averee, looking down at her hands. bella softly slapped the brunettes arm, making averee look up with a shocked face. "what was that for?" averee grunted, rubbing her arm. bella chuckled, tucking a piece of averees hair behind her ear. "don't pick at your fingers, you'll make them bleed. idiot." she smirked as she watched the girls face flush red. "you're blushing." averee coughed, looking down as she shook her head at the blonde, "you can't prove anything." averee mutter tiredly as she leaned into bellas chest.
