"So where do you wanna go, you two?"
"Well, Kaoru said he'd plan everything, so didn't really give it much thought,"
Haruhi replied.
"Any ideas?"
She asked.
You had a few places in mind, but seeing as you were kind of a surprise guest on their outing, you decided it'd be for the best to do whatever the two of them wanted to do first.
"Well there's not anything I need to do here,"
Hikaru replied before letting out a quiet gasp, presumably remembering something.
"I know, why don't we go to that outlet mall by the train station? They've got cheap clothes there,"
He proposed.
"That's cool, but do you need to buy some clothes?"
"No. There's no way I'd buy my clothes at that place,"
He responded without hesitation.
"Then let's skip it,"
Haruhi decided.
Haruhi went on about her worries about a possible thunderstorm, to which Hikaru had a snappy reply.
Honey-senpai tried to interfere by posing as an ice cream salesman, and Mori rushed in to stop him, leaving a large cloud of dust behind him.
Once the dust had settled, Hikaru found that you and Haruhi had disappeared, finding both of you at an ice cream stand.
"You two shouldn't run off like that!"
He said disgruntled.
"This place is famous for its ice cream. Here, I'll let you have the first taste!"
Haruhi held the ice cream cone towards Hikaru, but seeing your guilty expression, she let out a sigh.
"Second taste,"
She added, glaring at you.
"I HAVE NEEDS, HARUHI!"
You defended.
"If it sucks, then we're playing a penalty game,"
Hikaru accepted the cone, and then the owner who totally wasn't Tamaki in disguise gave you and Haruhi your own ice cream cones, telling you it was on the house.
~•~
"Pickled food is so lame! Who'd want to eat that crap?!"
"Hey! Don't discredit pickled food! Without pickled food, we'd be stuck in the bronze age!"
You argued, whipping your head to Haruhi.
"Give him one!"
Haruhi held up a yam chunk to the suspicious twin, and despite his words, he didn't hesitate to eat it.
"... it's not that bad,"
"HA!"
You shoved your pointer finger into his face in victory.
Haruhi ended up buying some more for Kaoru, soon exposing how Hikaru was worried about him.
Thinking on it, you decided that you'd need to hang out with Kaoru one of these days, but it'd hard to get him away from his brother. Eh, you'd figure it out later.
The three of you had a good time wandering about the different souvenir shops, admiring the various local specialities and Knick knacks.
"Looking at sunglasses?"
Hikaru asked, his face popping up being you in the mirror.
It was a little shocking he wasn't attached to Haruhi by the hip right now, but you weren't going to comment on that.
"Yup! This place has a lot of great knockoffs. I just gotta hope they don't give me lead poisoning!"
You cackled to yourself, with Hikaru giving you a weird look.
"Anyways, do these look good on me?"
Hikaru tilted his head, thinking for a moment.
"Yeah. I don't know if you have the right personality for them though,"
You raised a brow, and he explained.
"Aviator sunglasses suit people who are more... cool,"
He was pretty blunt with it, and you honestly would have laughed if that comment wasn't directed towards you.
"I can be cool! Check this out,"
You messed with your hair for a little bit in the mirror and grabbed a nearby jacket from one of the hangers before turning back towards him. Closing the small gap between the two of you, you hooked a finger under his chin, tilting it upwards.
"Why don't I take you back to my place so we can..."
You tilted your head downwards so your eyes would peak over the wireframe glasses,
"...get acquainted?"
You were cringing the whole time, and that cringe exploded outwardly as Hikaru laughed so hard it was like he'd heard the first joke ever invented.
"What's so funny? Why're you wearing that jacket?"
Haruhi approached, wanting to learn what's happened.
Thankfully Hikaru was too busy laughing to reply.
"Nothing happened,"
You replied robotically, taking off the glasses and jacket before beelining towards the door
While Haruhi chased after you, Hikaru looked back at the pair of cheap sunglasses.
"He totally learned that from me!"
Tamaki whisper yelled, hoping somehow that Oikawa guy was listening.
Kyoya made sure to take some notes, your little cool guy act could use some work, but it'd definitely work on the out of touch guests back at the host club.
~•~
Thunder clouds approached from the sky, harkened by a rumbling seemingly only you and Haruhi could hear.
A decision was made to get a cab and head back to shelter, but familiar voices were heard calling out.
"Is that you, Fujioka?"
"Yahoo!!! (Y/n)-chan!"
You and your fellow commoners mingled with each other while Hikaru stood on the sidelines, beginning to lose patience.
The thunder clouds rolled in faster and faster, with you being too distracted to notice.
"Just do whatever you want, ok?! You guys can catch up and reminisce, but leave me out of it!"
Hikaru yelled suddenly before running off.
"You sure you don't want to transfer to Seijoh?"
You rolled your eyes,
"You're starting to sound like-"
He cut you off,
"Don't even! And you should go after that guy, it looks like it's going to rain,"
You sighed, turning towards Haruhi,
"Go back to the inn, I'll go get that loser and find you after,"
~•~
"You are such a loser,"
You spoke while you hid under the tree with Hikaru, who pulled his headphones off, only to ignore your presence.
"I know you're really attached to Haruhi, but you need to realize that she's allowed to be close with other people,"
Still, he ignored you.
'This rich little...'
You kicked the tree, causing all of the rain that'd collected on its leaves and branches to hail down on Hikaru.
"Hey! Some of that got in my eyes!"
"Good!"
You groaned, not enjoying the feeling of damp clothes.
"I know it might make you angry to see one of the only people who understands you seem more interested in someone else,"
You started, moving in front of the stupid rich kid.
"But you can't just explode at people like that! Haruhi's her own person with her own life away from all of... this,"
Just as your words started getting through to him, he got a call.
It sounded like Tamaki was yelling at him about something, probably about Haruhi.
"We've gotta find Haruhi,"
He said with a grave expression, presumably finding about her phobia.
"If she's not back at the inn, she'd probably be... there's a church around here that doesn't lock its doors,"
You proposed.
Hikaru gave you a nod, and you both made haste towards Haruhi.
"You know, I wasn't just upset about Haruhi,"
You stopped in your tracks right at the church's entrance.
"Aw, Hikaru! You like me!"
He scoffed, turning his head away
"I never said that,"
You smiled at him,
"I'm glad, Hikaru. And I'm sorry we sidelined you like that, it wasn't nice,"
You gave him a hug, which wasn't too comfortable since the both of you were drenched from the cold rain.
Still, your hug felt warm to him.
"Haruhi's hiding under that podium. Go have your moment with her, I'm gonna rest on one of these benches,"
He hesitated for a moment before going to Haruhi, and you exhaled exhaustedly as you sat on the wooden bench. The rain dripping from you probably wouldn't be good for the wood, but that wasn't your problem.
'These rich emotionally constipated losers are so much work'
You thought to yourself, letting your eyes rest for a moment as the thunder raged on.
~•~
"Here (y/n), let me help you with that!"
Tamaki offered, grabbing the large plant pot from you and moving it to its new spot.
"Thanks senpai,"
The blonde slid back over to you with a a hopeful look,
"That was pretty reliable of me, huh?"
You deadpanned.
"You helped me out, once. Reliable means you've gotta be consistent,"
He crumpled up in defeat, was that Oikawa guy right?
"Are you still hung up on what Oikawa-senpai said?"
Tamaki looked away guiltily.
"Just ignore whatever he said. He just likes to mess with people's heads sometimes,"
You put your hands on his shoulders and revved up your kindness.
"I'm sure as time goes on, you'll prove to be the most reliable guy I know,"
Luckily he couldn't tell you didn't fully mean that, and his posture straightened up with a confident look.
"Hm? Giving him one of your pep-talks, (y/n)-chan?"
The volleyball player peered over your shoulder, enjoying the shocked expression of Tamaki.
"You! You may have a better history with him than me, but I'll-"
While Tamaki began his argument, you walked away, wanting to greet the boy who'd brought a watermelon.
He and Hikaru made up, even if Arai wasn't aware that there was even anything to make up for in the first place. Everyone had a bright smile on their face, and a good time was had by all.
~•~
"So if you're not into Arai, does that mean I can go after him?"
You asked while siting down with Haruhi.
She almost choked on her water,
"You have a thing for him?"
You hummed,
"Hm, well not really a thing, but he is pretty cute. He's just so earnest! The type of person who'd get all blushy if you held his hand,"
While you kept fantasizing about all of the possibilities, a twin stood behind you, holding something behind his back. You didn't seem to notice though, so with a disgruntled expression, he held a pair of aviator glasses in front of you.
"Hm? Oh woah, these are the knockoffs from that shop! You remembered!"
You grabbed the glasses by the arms, inspecting them with a smile.
Hikaru scoffed,
"You really think I'd buy knockoffs?"
You paused for a moment before examine the glasses further. The metal was definitely a little heftier, but it was a comfortable weight. The actual lenses themselves also had a distinct shine which spoke on its quality.
But then on the wireframe arms, you could feel a slight texture to it, but you weren't really able to figure out what it was. Hikaru brought out a magnifying glass and held it up to the textured part, revealing...
"You had my name engraved?!"
"They all come engraved,"
He lied.
"You're not gonna add this to Haruhi's debt, are you? Or are you gonna put me in debt?!"
Hikaru rolled his eyes,
"It's a gift. Jeez do I really seem like the type of person to sneak my friends into debt like that?"
You set the glasses down and gave Hikaru a tight hug, fueled by the thrill of getting something expensive for free.
"You're a great friend, Hikaru!"
"Yeah yeah, I know. Does this make me the favorite twin now?"
You didn't respond to that last part, mainly because you never really had one in the first place. Instead, you just squeezed him a little tighter, which was equally enjoyable for him.
