The ceremony took place in the backyard the following day, Andrew and Wednesday standing in front of a scrying bowl set on a stone pedestal that had set up just for this moment. Lines making up an intricate pentagram had been burned into the grass. They would light up once the ritual would be complete when Wednesday poured her blood into the bowl and he drank it, gaining what he wanted from this whole elaborate scheme.

He had waited eons for someone like her to come along. While time had no meaning to him, he ached with it's passage because a piece of his heart had been stowed away, taken by the passage of time itself. He intended to get it back by using Wednesday's blood and freeing himself from the chains Goody Addams had wrapped him in.

The rest of the Addams family was in attendance, sitting on plastic lawn chairs outside of the circle. Gomez held a shotgun over his shoulder, while Pugsley was fiddling with the grenades on his belt. Morticia's and Lurch's weapons were not easily visible, but Andrew could sense them.

He had made them suspicious enough that they were going to turn on themselves in the search for the impostor. He would enjoy watching them senselessly attempt to murder each other, only for the joy to melt away on their faces when they realized that he'd freed his chains and they were now able to die.

Keeping his smile small, he turned to Wednesday who stood there, eyes dead, unable to do anything unless he willed it because of what he snuck into her head.

"Are you ready, my dear?"

Pretending to be her lover, had been a most confusing experience for him. She looked like the spitting image of Goody and the thought had his inhuman heart trembling. He refused to identify which emotion it was he felt. He was immortal, all consuming. He didn't quaver in the face of emotions.

Wednesday predictably did not answer him. He needed her to act as normal as she could, otherwise her family would become aware of something being more wrong than it already was.

"My dear? Answer me," Andrew urged. The metal snake inside Wednesday's brain whirled into action, forcing her jaw open mechanically. Before she could utter anything out, the ground exploded a few feet from him.

Out of it erupted Enid, covered in pieces of dirt and shaking her big wolf head to dispel it.

She had her wolf form back?

That should be impossible. He'd removed her memories of being able to turn!

"You're early," Andrew said between gritted teeth as Enid stood up from the hole, giving her big shaggy coat another shake, sending dirt flying everywhere. On her tail, hung Thing. Using the momentum of Enid's swaying tail, Thing launched himself at Wednesday, slapping her hard enough that the tiny silver snake flew out of her ear. She gasped in shock, holding her red cheek as her head snapped back. But Thing wasn't done. He slapped her a few more times, each time her memory returning to her and sending her stumbling another step back from Andrew.

When he was done, he landed on the ground, flashing a satisfied thumbs up.

Her cheeks were flaming red. "I remember," she gaped out, immediately reaching for the blade she kept hidden behind the small of her back and turning on Andrew who stood flabbergasted.

This shouldn't be possible. How could Thing slapping them undo such magic? It wasn't fair and it was downright bogus! He peeled his lips back. Of course, from everything that he should have expected from the Addams he should have expected the unexpected.

No matter, he was too close to quit. He would get Wednesday to bleed, and he would drink her blood.

The Addams family watched from their seats, Gomez even clapping with excitement. "Now this is what I call entertainment!" he cheered.

Wednesday circled around Andrew, looking for a good way to take him on. He chuckled. Did she really think a knife could do him in?

Enid snarled and lunged at him. He didn't even bother to dodge. She tackled him to the ground, claws and teeth sinking in, all the while he continued smiling smugly at her. As if he knew something she didn't. Enid didn't pause to think, she just continued to rip into his body, his blood bitter in her mouth. Almost gagging her with it's taste. She didn't bother to stop, powering through the awful flavor, until nothing remained of him but a bloody pulp.

"Enid," Wednesday snapped out. "I wanted to be the one who drew first blood."

"I suppose we're starting Hunting season early," Gomez said, watching Enid tear into Andrew. He rose up, helping Morticia to her feet. "My darling, it will be lovely murdering you for sport." He pressed a kiss to the back of her hand.

"Likewise," she purred.

"And don't hold back, Pugsley," Gomez said, dropping her hand. "I want to see what you've learned."

Pugsley nodded his head, looking determined to win this.

Lurch grunted in agreement and pulled out a giant butcher knife from behind his back. Before any of them could truly get started, Thing ran across the grassy field, and leapt up, delivering mind clearing slaps to all of their faces. He jumped back from one face to another, like a pinball in a machine, until he'd made sure they got their memories back properly.

Meanwhile, Enid stepped back from Andrew's body. A black ball of smoke erupted from his form and went tearing through the air, disappearing somewhere into the beyond. Enid whimpered. Did that mean she'd won? Was he gone? Was it finally all over?

She turned back into her human form, trying not to wince at the blood covering her. Why did each family reunion end like this?

"I think he's gone," Wednesday said, eyes narrowed at the sky, trying to discern it's truths.

"Is he....do you think he'll come back?" Enid asked, voice tired and small. She just wanted to spend a calm vacation with her girlfriend. Was that too much to ask?

"I'm not sure. But we should probably be prepared for the worst," Wednesday said and Enid allowed herself to sag against her girlfriend's lean form. "You did well, cara mia," Wednesday whispered, pressing a kiss to Enid's temple.

"I need a shower," Enid said, plucking free a worm that had been in her hair. "And you need to talk to your family, figure out how to keep us safe."

Wednesday's lips quirked up. "With a fearsome wolf like you, who needs to worry about that?"

Enid blushed at the praise.

After a long and deserved shower, Enid dressed in fresh clothes and padded down the hall to join the family. Last she had seen of them, they had been embracing each other happily, glad to have survived this experience. Wednesday was probably going over safety measures to make sure this never happened again.

Thinking of Andrew made Enid furious. How could they have not seen through him before? She wanted every trace of him gone. Enid's feet stopped at the door to Wednesday's room. She pushed it open, spotting a source of frustration. Marching over, Enid tore the covers of Wednesday's bed off. Andrew had slept here.

They literally been sleeping with the enemy and shivers crawled down her back, thinking of how vulnerable Wednesday had been laying in his arms.

Enid let out an angry growl. She wanted to rip these sheets to shreds, wanted to burn them. She should have known better. She should have protected Wednesday.

"What's wrong, Enid?" Wednesday asked, coming into her room. Enid flushed, embarrassed to have Wednesday find her like this. She must have made more noise than expected.

"I um....I wanted to do your sheets?"

Wednesday looked at the tangled mess of them on the floor. "Is this about Andrew."

"Of course it's about Andrew," Enid sighed out, dropping her lie. She felt the blood boil in her veins now that she wasn't fearful and afraid. "He touched you, slept by your side, called you his girlfriend. He kissed you in front of me several times!"

"...if it is any consolation, I did not enjoy it," Wednesday said.

Enid wasn't sure she could believe that, not now when the pain was so raw. "This summer was supposed to be about us. About getting to know you better, about making cute relationship memories," Enid said, plopping down onto the stripped bed and looking up at the ceiling. "Any time we try to be together, something always comes in the way to stop us. Like the universe is testing us, preventing us from being together. It's frustrating. I want to hold and kiss you, Wednesday. I want to do....many things with you," Enid said, lashes fluttering against heated cheeks. She wasn't brave enough to speak up about that topic yet.

Wednesday approached the bed, sliding her way over Enid's body. Enid's heart rate picked up, the way one's did when they found themselves a panther's meal.

"I want that too, Enid," she confessed.

"Wednesday-"

"And we can still have it."

"I-" Enid breathed out, suddenly finding it hard to think with Wednesday's weight settling over her.

"Cara mia," Wednesday said, eyes lidded and voice a raspy whisper. "Let me make it up to you for how horrible this summer has been." She straddled Enid's waist, instantly causing Enid's blood pressure to sky rocket.

"Wednesday, it's alright," Enid said, finding it hard to find and formulate her words. "None of this was your fault."

"I just wanted to reward you," she said, lifting Enid's arm up and punctuating each word with a kiss down from the knuckles to the inside of her elbow. Enid felt her face run hot as each delicate kiss sent her heart into overtime. Enid was already shaking and her breathing was shallow and Wednesday had barely touched her. "For being such a very good girl."

All Enid could offer was a whimper of agreement before Wednesday dove in.

House smartly sound proofed the walls to Wednesday's room for the rest of that evening.

After they had finished, they lazed around in bed, simply allowing the moment to sink in. Enid's phone pinged several times and she let out a groan as she grabbed it off of the nightstand. Who was bothering her now? Her eyes narrowed and then went wide open as she unlocked her phone and read the bank statement there.

"Wednesday..." she said, sitting up, voice very shaky as she looked at her phone in disbelief. "Why does it say there's been a million dollars transferred to my account?"

She was going to hyperventilate.

"We won the challenge. You're now an Addams," Wednesday said. "All but in name. We'd have to marry for that."

Enid's mouth opened and closed shut. Her voice was small. "I'm rich now?"

"One million is nothing. I have no idea how much money we even have as we all receive weekly transfers of millions upon millions of dollars," she said, tsking. "A curse if you ask me. We can't even experience the true struggles of starting from nothing to building up to true success."

"I...I don't know what to say to this. Do I give it back?"

"It's your money now," Wednesday said, sitting up and pulling up the sheets to cover both of them.

"What else comes with my status as an Addams?"

Wednesday grinned. "Well, near immortality because of our curse. Among other perks that will become apparent in time." She curled a finger around a strand of Enid's hair. It was black.

"It changed my hair color?" she gasped out. She flipped her phone into camera mode but only saw that singular strand. Somehow, the look worked? It shouldn't work, but it did.

"We can discuss all this later," Wednesday said, pulling Enid's cell phone out of her hand. "I find I crave a repeat performance." And she pushed Enid back into the sheets.
