Amanda sat in the chair reading as Conner slept what fallowed would change her life and conners forever. She picked up the phone the minute it rang.
"Hello....yes this is she....what when?!?" Katja who was hanging out with Amanda walked in at the sound of her friends panicked voice she saw her trebling close to tears "I see, how did it happen?" Katja wasn't sure what happened but she knew it was bad Amanda took a shaky breath as she hung up. "What happened?" Katja asked "Conners mom is dead." She said softly Katja walked over embracing her friend.

Amanda heard Conner screaming for her she rushed up to her room Conner was having a nightmare. She sat on the edge of his bed as he bolted up right. "Conner buddy breath." She said in a soothing voice "you're safe." She whispered "Mandy where's mommy?" Amanda didn't want to break the news to the boy at midnight "honey it's late....." The woman started but was cut off by a scared and worried Conner. "I WANT MOMMY!!!" He screamed Amanda just stared at him for a moment. Conner repeated the question "she's gone." Amanda said softly when Conner asked when she'd be back Amanda took a deep breath and said "she not coming back." When Conner was asked why Amanda stared at him for what seemed like an eternity but was actually no longer then a few seconds. "You remember when we watched the lion king and simba couldn't wake mufasa up after the stampede was over?" She asked gently the boy nodded in response.

"Well a little while ago I got a call from the hospital, your mom got into a car crash and the doctors can't wake her up." Conner realized what Amanda was saying even though he was only four and didn't know exactly what death was he knew that it meant his mom was not coming home. "No." he said softly tears filling his eyes.
"No, your lying Mandy!" "YOU'RE LYING, LYING BAD GET MOMMY NOW!!!" Conner cried beating his fists against Amanda's body Amanda gently grabbed him and wrapped her arms around him cradling the boy as he broke into sobs. Amanda rocked him gently in her arms. "It's okay baby let it out, let it all out." She whispered as Conner kept apologizing over and over hoping if he said sorry enough his mother would come back.

Five years later

"Conner lets go you'll be late for the bus!" Amanda yelled from the bottom if the stairs. "Be right there mom!" Came her now nine year old sons reply. Conner Cerny  hurried down the stairs looking at the person who had replaced his mom after she died in that fatal car crash when he was five conners mother had given full custody of Conner over to Amanda in her last will. Amanda had been surprised but took him in without a second thought over the years She had babysat him Conner had become her son unofficially once she had signed the papers making her his legal guardian she was his mom now and nothing would change that. To Her surprise Conner had started calling her mom two weeks after he moved in with her. She smiled handing Conner his launch and back pack.

"You have everything?" She asked as the boy took his back pack and launch. "Yes mom." He replied smiling before hugging Amanda as the bus pulled up. "Have a good day love, I'll see you when you get home." She said as the hug ended the YouTuber smiled as he watched her son get on the bus. She reflected on how much Conner had grown as a person did he still have his bad days and rebel every once and a while sure but what child didn't? still there were times were Conner was a handful and real brat but those were extremely rare these days  and Amanda  loved him good or bad.
