Back at the Car Wash, Steven, Spinel and Greg were sitting in the lot, munching on some fresh watermelon slices. Spinel was especially enjoying the fruit, with juice and seeds dribbling down her chin.

"Mmm, so this is what watermelon is?" She asked, her mouth full of watermelon.

Steven smiles cheerfully. "I told you you'd like it!"

Greg chuckled lightly at Spinel's enthusiasm, taking a bite out of his melon piece. "Watermelon is a pretty good earth custom, isn't it?"

"Mm, you're telling me!" Spinel chirps, taking another big bite out of watermelon. "I tell ya, they never had stuff like this back at my old home!"

Steven tilted his head in interest. "Old home?"

"Steven? Spinel?"

The young duo turned towards a slightly distorted mature woman's voice, and smiled broadly as they saw a familiar, fluffy figure lumbering towards them.

"(Name)!" They cheered in unison as Greg turned to see your approach, and smiled warmly as you approached. "Oh! Heya (nickname)!" He greeted.

"Hello, Greg." You greeted the man, with a polite smile. "What is everyone up to?"

Greg shrugged. "Just relaxing, eatin' some watermelon." He held up his wedge. "Care to join us?"

"Yeah! Come on, (nickname)!" Spinel urged, patting the spot next to her. "Try some of this watermelon stuff! It's super yummy!"

You tilted your head at their offer. You came here to get them home for dinner and get them ready for bed. "Well... Steven and Spinel are supposed to be home for dinner now..."

"Aw, come on, (name)!" Steven Piped, sitting up straighter. "Sit with us for a bit! We haven't sat like this in forever!"

"Yeah!" Spinel chimes in. "And we can have watermelon for dinner! Just for tonight!"

A watermelon dinner? You almost visibly frowned at the thought. This only made you hesitate further. Doesn't sound very fulfilling for a child his age... "Mmmm...."

"Come on, (name)..." Steven urged, this time offering his wedge of watermelon to you. They both then lean forward forward to give you his infamous puppy eyes. "Pleeeeeaaaase?"

You stared at them for a lengthy amount of time before letting out a snort of defeat, letting a small grin curl your muzzle. "Just this once."

"Yeaaaaaah!" Both gems cheered as you took the melon wedge from Steven and took and laid down beside spinel.

From there, you all just relaxed in the car wash lot, enjoying your watermelons in the warmth of the setting afternoon sun, which turned everything a light shade of orange.

At some point, steven tipped his head back and spat a seed up into the air, which landed on his cheek, forming a faux tear. "Look guys, I'm Amadeus!"

He then puts on a sad face and speaks in his best German accent. "My father! He disapproves of me!"

You and Greg chuckled at his impression, as spinel simply smiled chewing on a big bite of watermelon.

"Well, check this out!" Greg then took a bite out of his melon slice, closed his eyes and spat two seeds up into the air, both of which landed on his eyelids, so they represented pupils, forming pseudo eyes. "Betcha can't top that!"

"Bet I can." Blowing his seed tear off his cheek, he takes in another mouthful of watermelon and stands up from his seat. Taking a deep breath, he spits his seed at a can atop a cone a few paces away from everyone.

"Whoa! Nice one, stevie!" Spinel chirps through her bite of watermelon.

"That was impressive, my son." Greg smirked. "The name of the game ain't distance nor accuracy."

"It ain't?" You questioned, popping the entire melon wedge into your mouth.

"No (name), this is all about who can spit the coolest." He stated, standing up from his chair. "Allow me to demonstrate."

He eats watermelon to the rind and sets it down onto the ground. Giving a wink to the young gem duo, he hunches over and spits three seeds between his legs into the melon rind, which acts like a ramp, sending the seeds flying back towards Greg who catches them effortlessly into his hand.

This earns him a round of applause from you, spinel and Steven.

"Wow, dad!" Steven cheers.

There was a period of silence as Greg stood hunched.

"Uh... Mr. Greg?" Spinel tilted her head at his lack of response.

"Help me, someone..!" Greg strained, as he had somehow become stuck in the position.

"Oh no." You muttered, rising up from your spot and trotted over to Greg, and gently nudged him back upright, to which he flops back into his chair, groaning in immense discomfort. Despite that, he still had an air of playful arrogance. "Beat.... that..."

"What!?" Steven's eyes widened at the challenge. "You're asking for it!"

"Whuh oh." Spinel winced, watching as steven proceeds to down several watermelons at once, getting juice and seeds all over his face. "You're really asking for it!"

You sneered in worry at how much melon was in his mouth. "Easy, steven. Don't wanna choke, now."

There was a brief pause.

"Hurricane..."

You stepped back, not sure where he's going with this.

"Spin..."

Spinel slowly set her rind aside and proceeded to scuttle away from the boy, and crawled beneath you, equally as uneasy.

"SPIIIIIIT!!!"

Wha-?

Before you had enough time to process his words, steven suddenly spun around, spitting out a flurry of watermelon seeds in all directions, getting seeds absolutely everywhere to which you crouched down over spinel with a cry of surprise as you were hit with a rainstorm of black seeds. By the time he was done, the entire area was covered in black speckles. Steven beamed proudly at his work. "My Hurricane spin spit is unbeatable!"

"By jove!" Greg exclaimed in shock. "It's full of seeds!"

"No kidding." You grunted, shaking the seeds out of your mane.

"Congratulations, son." Greg smiles cheerfully. "You win by a mile."

With that, he starts to chomp away at a melon slice with mild vigor, creating a makeshift crown. "I crown thee." He sets the crown atop his son's head, who smiles brightly. "Your water-melojesty." He bows poshly to the boy, who returns the gesture. "My liege."

"What about me?" Spinel quips, wearing a slightly sad pout.

You smiled. "Fear not, milady."

You took a melon wedge and popped it into your mouth, chewing at it briefly and pulled it out, revealing a neat little melon tiara.

You set the tiara onto her head, in which she beams in pure elation.

You and Greg both bowed to the young gems. "All hail water-melady spinel and water-melord steven."

After which, you all laughed joyously at the funny event of today.
