That night, reservations were made at a relatively classy restaurant; The Crab Shack. There was light piano music that could be heard from outside the small building, which was strung up in a simple rope of light, giving the eatery an elegant edge.
And sitting at an outside table on the restaurant's rather large wooden balcony, was Mr and Mrs. Maheswaran and their daughter Connie, doning her glasses and wore an anxious frown as she awaited for the arrival of her best friend for their dinner date...
Who was unfortunately running quite late at the moment. Connie's father, sips at his water and lets out a soft groan of boredom as her mother checks her watch with an impatient glare.
"We've been waiting for nearly 20 minutes." She grunts, raising Connie's anxiety. What was happening over there? What's taking him so long?
Was Steven unable to come to dinner?
The ground suddenly starts to rumble, a steady quake running through it, scaring off a few seagulls. Turning their attention to the source, the Maheswarans gasp in shock, reeling in surprise and mild terror at a massive six armed figure making its approach and loomed over the three humans, easily dwarfing everyone, including the building. On the the large, round purple and blue shoulder pads of the being sat two pairs; steven and spinel on one shoulder and you and Greg on the other.
"Uh... oh." Mr. Maheswaran uttered in fright and shock as the massive woman gathered steven and spinel into one hand and you and Greg into the other, setting you all onto the ground gently. "Thanks, Ally." You thanked, rubbing the back of your neck uncomfortably. "You're welcome... mother."
There was an awkward beat before Greg stepped forward, wearing a mildly uneasy smile. "I'm Greg Universe," he reaches over and shakes Mrs. Maheswaran's hand, before gesturing to spinel. "And this little rascal is my youngest daughter... Nelly."
She bows theatrically to the three humans, making them giggle. "A pleasure to meet you."
"Oh, she's quite adorable!" Mrs. Maheswaran compliments, making Connie and Steven smile slightly in relief. Greg then turns, and places a hand on your shoulder, and you repress a flinch. "And this tall drink of water is my wife, (name)."
You cleared your throat, stomping down your feelings of intense discomfort, and reached your hand towards the human, wearing the most friendly smile you could muster. "It's a pleasure." The woman hesitates, seeing at how massive your hand was as well as your sharp looking nails, but gives you a firm handshake. You then gestured upto the giantess behind stepped back, setting a hand on the giantess' leg, patting it gently. "And this... is Steven's... older sister Alexandrite." There was a beat of silence. "From out of town." You added quickly. "Here for a visit. Thought we might bring her over as well since she's family."
"Hiiiii...." she greets awkwardly, and somewhat uncomfortably.
You then all proceed to sit at the table, with you in the middle, steven and Greg to your right and spinel to your left. Alexandrite sat behind you. There was an awkward period of silence and you awkwardly take a breadstick, and take a massive bite out of it. "Mm... the breadsticks are good." You commented, trying to lighten the mood. "Ally, try some." There was a pause, most likely hesitants, but she finally proceeds to take all of the breadsticks and to munch them down, rather quickly.
"I hope this place has unlimited breadsticks." Mr. Maheswaran comments under his breath, which his wife thankfully caught. "Don't be rude." Mrs. Maheswaran rebukes quickly.
Alexandrite continues to munch on the appetizer, until she suddenly sticks her tongue out, showing the chewed up food, making you reel in alarm and disgust. We'll never be approved with these kinds of manners!
"Chew with mouth closed!" You exclaimed, a faint growling undertone present beneath your voice. "Remember? Table manners!"
Alexandrite quickly puts her tongue back into her mouth, in which you nodded and turned back around with a annoyed grunt, with an animalistic growl barely audible in it. Greg chuckles nervously, elbowing you playfully. "Isn't my wife a riot?"
The woman's eyes flickered between you and Greg, brow lifted in suspicion. "So, tell me... how did you two meet?"
"Huh?" Greg seemed startled. "How did we meet?" He appeared to sweat as the attempted to find a suitable answer. "Well... we... um-"
"They met on a roller coaster!" Steven blurts out, startling you and Greg, and to an extent Connie, who silently mouthed 'what?' at the sudden claim.
"Yeah, she was... too big to ride!" Spinel added in with a nervous giggle, in which Connie shakes her head in disapproval.
Greg decides to play along with it and lets out another nervous laugh. "Uh- I remember it like it was yesterday! Right honey?" He places his hand on your back, and you felt your jaw tighten in discomfort at the contact, as well as an scorching itch running through your body. This date is going to shatter me.
But I must do this... for Steven! Pull yourself together, (name)... To hide your discomfort, you let out an unintentionally deep, semi-loud chortle, raising your hand up, making Greg jerk his hand away in startlement. "(Name) sure does!" You went to playfully pat Greg's back, but a sudden electric-like surge ran through you and you ended up smacking the man in the back of his head, slamming his face into the table. "Er... Sorry... dear." You whispered to him as he rubbed the back of his now tender head. "Oh... that's okay..."
"Uh..." Mr. Maheswaran coughs, trying to clear the awkward from the air. "What is it that you do for a living, Mr. And Mrs. Universe?"
"Well, you see, I own a local car wash," Greg answers easily. "And my sweet, dear wife here... uhh..."
"My mom works on an apple farm!" Steven blurts out yet again, in which Connie rests her head onto the table in frustration.
"She... uses of her strength to shake apples out of huge trees!" Spinel adds, giggling nervously yet again.
Things are not working as well as I imagined...
"Well you know what they say; an apple a day keeps the doctor away." Greg jokes.
"Yes, Ally fears doctors." You added with a shrug.
"I hate doctors." Alexandrite bluntly states.
"Well, I'm a doctor." Mrs. Maheswaran notes, which causes the itch in your body to intensify from anxiety. "Oh."
Connie finally heard enough. "Steven, help me find the restroom!"
