The day carries on, with you, steven and spinel on the beach, playing and dancing in the sand and ocean, until the sky turned dark as the sunset behind the ocean. At that point the duo had well worn themselves out. a mix of everything that happened today, they were practically dragging themselves, namely steven, who didn't get a chance to have a power nap like spinel.

This was evident by the fact you practically had to carry him back into the beach house, and the way he almost dragged through his nightly routine. as you fluffed a pillow for spinel, while she shook the sand out of her pigtails, you take notice on how the gems hadn't come out of their rooms yet to bid you all good Night. I must've rattled them good... You thought with a wince, staring at the blue doors in mild guilt, placing her on the couch and swaddling her into a blanket. but your look soon hardened into a glower. But... let's hope this sticks with them next time they put dear little steven and spinel in a dangerous situation...

"(name)!"

you snap your head over to see steven standing in front of you, with a tired but cheery smile on his face. "Steven?" with a giggle, he takes hold of your face and gives you a soft peck on the muzzle, which sent a fuzzy wave of warmth through you, making you grin lightly. "Night night!" he chirps, still hugging your muzzle. you hummed softly, looking down at the small boy on your muzzle, enjoying the warmth his aura gave off. with a purr, you lift your head up, out of Steven's embrace, making his smile falter in wonder. "huh-?"

you feel a warm, playful triumph at the bright, almost dopey smile sprawled across his face when you pulled away, watching as he giddily hugged your chest, giggling softly into your chest fluff.

"Um... whatcha both doin' over there?" you look over to see spinel, sitting up swaddled in her blanket looking both confused and mildly omitted, which made you frown slightly. "just giving each other goodnight kisses." steven said nonchalantly, patting your cheek. loneliness in spinel's expression quickly faded into pure confusion as she tipped her head to the side. "Goodnight... kisses?" she repeated, clearly new to the term. steven nodded again, only more excitedly. "Yeah! You do it like this!" he repeated his actions once again on your muzzle, only more slowly, to make sure spinel saw his every movement. "See?" she still looked kind of puzzled, so he simply smiled and stepped back, gesturing to you. "Why don't you give it a try?" Spinel lifted her brow, looking slightly apprehensive, but she nonetheless got up from her seat, tightly clutching her blanket, and shuffled over in front of you, shooting a glance at steven, before looking back up at you.

She pulled back and looked up at you with uncertainty. "Like that?"

you smiled down at her and rewarded her gesture.

She blinked up at you, smiling happily as she swayed slightly in her blanket. "Hehe... I could get used to that." You suddenly heard steven clapping excitedly from off to the side. "You guys learned a new earth term!" he cheered pumping his fists into the air excitedly, making you smile in amusement at his childish cheeriness. Anything could make this boy happy.

You chuckled to yourself before nudging spinel's cheek with your muzzle. "Steven and spinel get rest now." You suggested softly. "It's gotten late." To confirm your statement, steven almost immediately slumped, yawning loudly. "Okay..." He murmured, making his way up the stairs. "Night, guys." You watched as he made his way up the stairs, listening to him shuffle into bed and sigh contently. You nodded to yourself. that's one down... you turned and nudged spinel with your muzzle, urging her to the couch. "Spinel to." You said softly. "Sleep good for her." Spinel pouted a bit, looking ready to protest, but she merely nodded and shuffled back to the couch, resting her head on your fluffed pillow, humming as she got comfortable before falling silent.

You nodded, smiling in satisfaction as you laid your head down, allowing yourself to succumb to sleep.

"Wow, she's really good at the whole 'mom' thing."

Amethyst noted, having watched the whole scene from behind the warp room walls, whilst drinking from the bottle of maple syrup. "Who woulda thought a corrupt gem would be worried about a sleep schedule?"

Pearl, who was peeking from behind the wall, had her eyes locked on your curled up form. "She's... a surprisingly quick learner as well." She was wringing her hands slightly as she looked back at her two teammates. "The fact she already knows how to operate human technology with such ease despite her debilitating condition..." she brought a hand to her chin in contemplation. "It's a wonder on how she's so stable.. even with her current status..." She looks back towards you, smiling slightly. "It really is sweet, with how protective she's become with steven and spinel. she really has a close bond with the two."

"...And we should be as well." garnet stated. her arms crossed matter-of-factly. Her use of tone prompted the two gems to look up at her quizzically. "Not only for steven's sake... But for (name)'s as well." She pressed a finger to her visor.

"There's no greater threat than a protective mother.." Amethyst snickered, taking another swig of her syrup. "Uh, yeah dude. We kinda saw that first hand." Garnet leaned slightly so she could see your sleeping form, hearing the deep, snores softly emanate from your body. "Well, we were lucky this time." Her voice suddenly taking on grim note. "She managed to hold herself back this time."

The two gems looked up at her. "Hold herself... back?" Pearl questioned, sounding worried as she played with her hands again. "You mean she-?"

"Yes." Garnet cut her off, a barely noticeable tension in her voice. "So... we must try to keep those instincts of hers at a safe level." She turned her back to the two gems, making her way to the temple doors.

"Because next time... We might not be so lucky."

The two gems watched as the tall gem disappeared into the blue doors. After a period of silence, the purple gem shudders at a sudden chill. "...eesh. Let's hope we don't see that side of (nickname) again, eh pearl?" She nudged the tall gem playfully, before entering the her temple room, leaving pearl alone.

She stared at the door for a few seconds before turning back around to look back at you again, her conspiratorial gaze flickering from you and the portrait.
