after a moment or two, Steven returned, which caught your attention. "is everything okay?" asked pearl. "greg no hurt?" you asked anxiously sitting up from your resting position. "hey, did greg fall and break his butt?" amethyst asked, giving a small, if not meek laugh. "...that's not funny." garnet blankly replies, to which amethyst looks down defeatedly. "..I know." spinel, who was sitting beside her, put a hand on her back in comfort as pearl continued her explanation of the massive geode. "like I was saying, this is a synthetic-" the sound of the whistle suddenly sounded over the storm's thunder again, much to pearl's annoyance. "I'm sure it's very important!" Steven reassured, running back up to the warp pad and warping off. you stared at the place he disappeared from and slumped back down to your belly, murmuring under your breath in mild irritation. at this point, spinel stretched her way over to you and leaned back against your flank with a sigh. she gives you a small nudge with her elbow. "this is gonna be one heck of a day, eh, (name)?" you snort in response. who knows how things will go down today...

after a minute or two, Steven returned. "it was very important." he informed matter-of-factly, which made spinel lift her brow. "what was--" she was interrupted by pearl's curt explanation of the geode's existence. "okay, so if the geode breaks, then the storm will be unleashed and our bodies will be vaporized." Steven looked up at the massive orb as it absorbed the lightning that crackled from the sky. "then, we'd be dead." he concluded. "great." you muttered flatly, cheek rested against the dry earth. "that's where you come in." garnet informed turning to steven.

"say what?" Steven whispered, sounding startled as garnet crouches to his height, setting a hand on his shoulder. "you should try to seal that crack with your healing powers." Steven looked uncertain. "but... what if... I can't do it...?" spinel sat up with a toothy, reassuring smile. "don't knock it til ya try it, kiddo! just give it a go." Steven still looked hesitant, but he nodded. "okay."

with that, he walks upto the geode hesitantly, still looking very doubtful, until he looks over to see the gems giving him silent reassuring cheers and you flashing him a thumbs up and spinel giving him a wink and thumbs up. with a huff, he licks his palm, covering it in his healing essence and pressed it to the geode...
