May death be the mercy of the mortal souls, huh?-Pharaoh!Sans
Pharaoh!Sans is a version of Sans that, like Reaper!Sans, is a God of Death. However, his position is far different then the one that Reaper!Sans has. He is the resident of the AU, PharaohTale.
Backstory:
PharaohTale is one of the most powerful AUs to exist in the Alphaverse. And is the Alphaverse counterpart of Reapertale, just as BuddhaTale is a counterpart to Reapertale as well, alongside AsgardTale. However, what makes PharaohTale, like AsgardTale, more like a direct ReaperTale counterpart is what mythology they are based on. While ReaperTale is based on Greek Mythology, and while AsgardTale has Norse Mythology Elements, PharaohTale is based on Egyptian Mythology, and even the gods of PharaohTale are based on the Egyptian Gods' nature and status, as well as the story being more different from the original Egyptian Mythology that PharaohTale is based on.
The main setting of the AU takes place in an area that resembles a desert of some sort, as well as taking place in the current times of the Alphaverse. The PharaohTale is ruled by Asgore, God of the Sun and Life itself, who is the ruler and the pharaoh of his whole AU. He is also the one that kept the gods existing in the first place, for all of the gods are connected to his life force. Without him, all of the gods, while not killed, will be severely weakened, even if he does disappear, with very rarely a couple of gods that are able to remain strong without him. He and his wife, Toriel, the Goddess of Water and Cosmos, kept the stability of the AU, and made sure that the denizens are safe and secure. Of course, while they are unaware of the Alphaverse, as well as being unaware of what is happening, they are aware of dangerous forces being brought at play here, and thus, they decided to prepare for it, not just in making themselves stronger, but also to gain worthy heirs to the throne, especially if something were to happen to them, and they would be gone. And so, they had made a son, who is named Asriel. Asriel would become the God of Mercy and Flame, possessing magic that surpasses his parents, but his strength is as the same as them. The 2 parents trained their son, but even as they did, they then made another child, a daughter named Astell, who is the Goddess of Protection and Water. The children were in peace, and they would made sure that they are safe and sound, and whenever that the children are gone, Gaster, a loyal servant and follower of Asgore, would watch over the children and teach them all that he knows. And at first, everything was going well, with the children even growing up and being able to become more stronger then before. But then, one day, everything changed. A human deity, going by the name of Chara, the deity of Evil and Chaos, came and stormed the palace, and tried to kill both of the children. But Gaster held the child off, and did all that he can to protect them and make sure that they are safe. And he was not alone. Undyne, the Goddess of War and Ocean, also arrived to protect the child, with Alphys, the Goddess of Magic and Science, also doing the best she can to aid in stopping Chara, who proved to be immensely powerful. Asgore came and held Chara back, forcing them to flee...but Gaster had lost his life, and thus, everyone believed that he had been slain, his life forever gone. Or at least...they thought that he did.
While Gaster did die, the way he died is not normal when the other gods die. When a deity dies, their soul simply vanishes into nothing, ceasing to exist. But Gaster, instead of his soul vanishing, it instead went someplace else. His soul sunk below the sands of the AU, and went into a realm that not even Asgore and Toriel know of, despite their millennia of living in the heavens. When Gaster opened his eyes sockets, he looked around and see that he is in another realm that had never been seen before. The realm was dark, with black sand and mist, yet the area was also lit enough to be seen in full detail. Gaster looked down, and saw that parts of his body, such as his arms and legs and neck, have turned into a sickly blue color. He walked into the realm, and saw a heart floating in the air. He neared his hand to it, and felt...no...heard...a voice. A voice of someone he knew of. It was a mortal he once spoke to before he died of old age. But how does he heart it? Then, multiple voices are heard, and there are multiple hearts that are all over the place, and they are of people that he had known of that had died. And then, it made sense to Gaster. This realm is a type of afterlife that holds the souls of those that have died, and Gaster, he had been able to enter the realm, somehow, when he himself had been slain. Gaster, seeing that the realm is disorganized, realizes that he can rule a realm such as this, as he realizes that since Asgore and Toriel have no knowledge of this place, they will need maintain a balance of some sort, especially in the side that involves death and the afterlife. Needing to strengthen himself, he absorb the souls that surround this place, with the exception of the souls of those that he had recognized, and thus, he gained power unlike ever before, now at full strength, and even more stronger then ever before, now as strong as Asgore. It is here that is then able to take his place as the God of Death, and became the ruler of the Afterlife, he called Duat. And here, he began to rule the Duat with order and stability, determining which soul gets salvation, and which soul deserves to suffer for sin.
For those that lived a life of virtue, they are go to the River of the Night, where they reside in peace and closure, being given a shelter and are safe from the nightmares that they would be given from their worst experiences in life, so that they can be seen to the Seventh Hall, where it will be their new home. Too those that had suffered sin, however, they are taken to the Sea of Chaos to suffer for the heinous acts of sin that they had done, and are unable to escape, and will soon be fed to a Devourer that Gaster had found, unless the souls feel true remorse, in which case, they will be cleaned of their sins, and sent to the seventh house, where they are able to be redeemed and can live in peace.
And his power, because of an inverse to the power Asgore has. For while Asgore gains strength with more people being born and living, Gaster gained power over those that died, and their power kept increasing. The same applies to the children of Asgore and Toriel. However, as time works very differently to the outside world, it is far slower inside of the afterlife. And during his time in the afterlife, he met 2 unknown goddesses, one of which he met is the goddess of magic and death, in which the both of them mates, and the goddess gave birth to a god, named Sans, who is able to become the gods of Death and the Afterlife, and he is taught what his mother knows of magic, and the father taught Sans what he knows of how to control souls and the afterlife, before the mother had decides to leave Sans for reasons that even Sans and Gaster know not of. Then, another goddess, one that embodies the sky, appeared to Gaster, and they both gave birth to Sans' younger half-brother, Papyrus, who is the god of War and Sky. The mother of Papyrus, unlike the mother of Sans, stayed, as the both of them, Gaster and the Goddess, taught Papyrus how to fight and how to strategize. But despite this, Papyrus has a very kind and peaceful nature to all.
When Sans and Papyrus grew up, Sans gained his position as the ruler of the Hall of Judgement, where they are judged of who gets to be worthy to move on, and who gets to be worthy to be devoured by the Devourer that Gaster has found. And Sans, he has a very clear judgement of what he does, and which souls get to go where. He ruler very fairly and justly in his section of the Duat. And inside of the Duat, he and Papyrus, they grew ahead of Asriel and Astell in terms of age, and became much more skilled and more powerful then before, before then even reached adulthood. And unlike the other gods, they are not reliant on Asgore's power, no longer needing it. Now they grow in power with age, as Gaster himself no longer needs to rely on Asgore's power to sustain his existence.
When they grew up into adults, Papyrus decided to go out into the outside world, and walks around the mortal realm, as he was always interested in the fact that Papyrus has never seen the mortal realm before. But as he does not want to make himself known, he took on a form similar to that of a mortal, as Sans decided to follow him, just so that his brother is safe and unharmed. Of course, he knows that his brother is strong and can fight, due to being taught by his mother and father, but Papyrus is too kind, and he is unaware of the fact that he is not supposed to be out yet. So, to make sure that he is safe, Sans took on the form of a Jackal, as walked alongside Papyrus, in an effort to make sure that he is okay. But the mortal world is not in a very bad situation, due to Chara having caused a lot of chaos here. And thus, they began to attack the lives in the outside world. Papyrus tried to go and fight him, revealing himself as a god, but Chara proved themself to be a very difficult to Papyrus, due to them being very strong themselves. Papyrus was about to lose, and Chara was about to win, until Sans appeared and attacked Chara, sending them back, and it is here that Sans decided to go and attack them. But Sans proved to be superior to Chara, due to the fact that he trained as hard as he could, and the fact that due to being his older brother, he gained far greater power then Papyrus, even though he has no skill compared to him. He and Chara fought, their power shook the entire AU, with Chara doing their best to stop Sans, and Sans doing all that he can to take down Chara. But when all is said and done, Sans was able to win against Chara, and forced them away, sending them to the deepest death of Duat as punishment for their act against the gods that were meant to rule and protect the mortals. The mortals humans and monsters that survived and lived thanked Sans and Papyrus, asking for who they are. Sans revealed himself as Gaster's son, along with Papyrus, as the god of death and war. The mortals bowed to them, and Asgore, hearing this, came to Sans, and revealed that Gaster had been in an afterlife and had been ruling it. It made Asgore feel relieved, now knowing that his greatest ally has been existing for all of this years, and had never been gone from his whole life. Asriel and Astell, who were still children, but a year older, came to Sans and Papyrus, along with Undyne, and they both got along very well, with Papyrus even being taught by Undyne in how to fight, which Papyrus accepts without hesitation, as while he knows how to fight, only in the ways of the Duat. He has not been taught to fight by those in the upper realms. And thus, Papyrus and Undyne began to spar and train, with Undyne proving superior to Papyrus in terms of skill, despite Papyrus being stronger then her.
Sans, on the other hand, continues his work at the Duat, as he makes sure that the souls do not get out of control, and patiently sends them to where they need to be. But as Sans kept on doing his work, Sans began to feel a little bit sad, for he has gotten may things, and yet...there is one thing that he does not have, that has made a hole inside of his heart, but he has no idea what it is that he is feeling is missing to him. But even so, he does not let this sort of feeling bother him, as he kept on living his life as the gods of the underworld, and does all that he can to keep the Underworld in stable order, sending the souls to their respective places, while also making sure that the hall is in good shape, as his father had been able to make it for him to use. His brother is busy doing his training with Undyne, and Gaster is just taking care of the Duat on his section of it.
But as Sans kept on doing his business in the Hall of Judgement, he felt a little bit bored, and there are no more dead souls to be seen inside of the realm that he is in. So he decided that he would go to the outside world and see what the mortal realm is like. When he enters the mortal realm, he now has taken on the appearance of a normal skeleton monster, at the height of 5'4, and with empty black eye sockets. He walks around and sees the mortals living together, especially with the ones of opposite gender, and he sees the embrace and lock lips with one another. This made Sans' sadness deepen, as he looked at the sight, for he has no idea what it is that he is missing. What is it that he is missing from his life, that he has that the mortals themselves have?
As Sans continued to walk, he finds an oasis of sort on the desert, as he goes to the water, and stares down at it. He looks at him reflection, showing his real self, as he sees his own face. However, unbeknownst to Sans, there is someone watching from afar inside of the oasis. From afar is a young woman with brown braided hair, her eyes closed, but has a divine beauty like no other. Human she resembles, she is actually a goddess that has decided to visit the oasis, which she had used for her personal alone time, with rarely anyone visiting it. Usually, it is of mortals that come and visit this oasis, but now...now it is not of a mortal. The goddess looked at Sans, and she felt her heart thump, due to how Sans looks, but also because she can see who he really is. She smiled, as she then walks over to him, and Sans looks up to see her when he saw a reflection, and that is when he truly felt something. When he looks at the goddess before her, the goddess asked for his identity, which he says his name and title, and speaks of who the goddess is. The goddess introduces herself as Frisk, the deity of mercy and determination. And it is here that Sans' life began to change.
Sans and Frisk began to hang out at the Oasis, by Frisk's request, as Frisk fell in love wit. The God of Death, and Sans, he began to feel something for her, but he does not know what it is that he is feeling towards Frisk. But slowly and surely, he began to understand what he is feeling for her, as Frisk began to do whatever it takes to get close to him. And then, after a while, Frisk and Sans are together, with Frisk even ruling the Hall of Judgement with him. Frisk and Sans began to love one another, as Frisk then gave birth to a child, named Aliza, a goddess of Purification. And thus, Sans began to feel whole, much more so then ever before, as he now has Frisk at his side, and thus, Aliza, the daughter of Sans and Frisk, granddaughter of Gaster, and the nephew of Papyrus, lived with her mother and father, as Sans does his best to be a good father to his blood, and with Frisk's help, he is able to become a very great parent. Perhaps he is not the best parent, but he is good enough to try and give her a good life. No words can describe how happy Sans is, now that he has gotten the life that he deserves, and thus, will do whatever it takes to make sure that it stays that way. But unbeknownst to Sans and his family...the danger is now over yet.
Outside of the AU, the Alphaverse, most notably Infected, the first destroyer, has now came into the AU of PharaohTale, where the gods and mortals of the AU reside in. And it is here that Infected is ready to attack and make his first move. He had already appeared from Reapertale, and had dealt with the gods of their realm, so what is this realm gonna do to him? Well, Infected is going to make sure that he causes as much death and mayhem as he can.
Appearance:
Pharaoh!Tale Sans stands at the exact same height as Reaper!Sans, which is that he is at the height of 5'4. Like Reaper!Sans, Pharaoh!Sans has empty black eye sockets, but unlike Reaper!Sans, he has a golden iris on the right eye. His clothes are much more regal looking compared to Reaper!Sans and Asgard!Sans, wearing a sleeveless black gown, exposing his skeletal arms, with golden adornments on his neck and waist and arm bracelets. The most notable feature is the fact that he has black ears of a jackal on the top of his head. The black gown also has a hood on the back, but he wears it only in the mortal world or when he fights, and most of the time, he leaves it down.
Personality:
In contrast to Reaper!Sans, Pharaoh!Sans is a much more saner and more relaxed individual. He has a much more stable mentality then Reaper, due to the fact that he did not kill someone that he loved on accident, and thus, has a much more saner mind. Although he does not like his job, he understands the necessity of the balance in his AU, and does all that he can to maintain it with his father now bush with the far more important parts of said concept. He can be sad sometimes, and may even be sad all of the time, but he hides this very well with a relaxed and calm attitude, as well as being nice and funny to those that know of him. He has a tendency to tilt his head when curious or confused, seeming rather dog-like.
As Sans has lived among humans at times, he takes the time to understand human customs and laws, and thus, he understood the souls of mortals more then most, even Gaster and Asgore, with only Papyrus being able to understand them at all. And ever since his meeting with Frisk, he has gotten a bit more livelier then ever before, now having a far more happier expression on his face, and smiles much more genuinely then ever before in his life. Because of this, even when compared to Reaper!Sans and Asgard!Sans, he is a far more happier god version of Sans then the other 2 version of him can ever be.
However, like any other Sans, he does have a dangerous side to him. If Sans were to get mad, he would be described as being so dangerous, that it is like looking into the abyss. His tone would become more softer and quiet, yet has a dangerous aura around him. He will still smile, but he will smile in a very enraged way. The area that he is will will be described as being darkened by an unknown force, and the darkness that fills in the area that he is in will make him any person, mortal or god, shake in fear at seeing Sans the way that he is. And when he fights, he is described as being very cunning, comparable to a Jackal, as well as being territorial and aggressive with the area that he is fighting his opponents in. He is very frightening in combat and because of this, even Chara, who is Sans' most hated enemy, fears him, as they had sustained immensely bad injuries from him. The only ones that can calm him down are Papyrus, due to the fact that he cares deeply for his brother and has taken care of him in his father's absence, and Aliza and Frisk, the family that he loves very deeply with every fiber of his very soul.
Powers/Abilities:
Undead Control: Pharaoh!Sans is able to make corpses undead, by placing the soul of the deceased into their dead physical forms, and while the undead corpses have retained their memories of who they once were, they are now under the control of Sans, who can command them as he pleases them.
Dead Soul Control: Pharaoh!Sans can summon dead souls into the world of the living without others noticing, not even those as strong as a TransVoid Being or Conduit.
