Once Enid and I let go, she packed up her things and the three of us started the long journey home.

My hand didn't let go of hers once.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Carol was on watch when me, my dad, and Enid approached the gate.

She smiled when she saw that Enid was with us and opened the gate.

We walked into the building and my dad and I immediately searched for Denise while Enid followed us.

We found her on the third floor, the same floor as the infirmary. In fact, everyone was on that floor, sitting at tables and not saying anything.

We ran up to Denise and I asked, "How's Glenn?"

Her face was somber. "He's awake, but he's not doing well. He has been asking for you for a little while now. You should go see him."

I turned back to look at Enid and my dad. They nodded, encouraging me to go in, and went to join Maggie and Daryl.

I took a deep breath and walked into the infirmary.

I saw Glenn lying on the same bed as when I left.

He turned at my entrance. He gave me a weak smile, which I returned.

I went and sat in the chair at his beside and grabbed his hand.

"Hey," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Did you find Enid?" he asked quietly.

How did he know about that? Maggie probably told him.

"Yeah," I said. "We found her."

Glenn smiled and his eyes glowed. "I'm glad," he said and squeezed my hand.

"Your such a good man," he continued. "I'm really proud of you."

Oh, no. I knew where this was going.

I took a moment before begging, "Glenn, please don't." A lump was rising in my throat.

"This group is gonna need you," he informed, ignoring my statement. "Take care of them."

"Glenn...." I tried.

"Tell Maggie I love her," he said.

I was about to beg again, but I realized it wasn't going to do any good. I simply bit my lip and nodded, a few tears sliding down my cheeks.

He smiled once again. Suddenly, he took a shuddering breath, leaned back in the pillow, and Glenn died.

I just sat there for what seemed like forever, unable to do or say anything.

Finally managing to come to terms with Glenn's death, I slowly leaned forward and hugged his cold body.

After that, I struggled to my feet and stumbled out of the room.

Everyone's eyes shot towards me when I walked out and they stood up, looking at me expectantly.

I only managed to slightly shake my head.

Everyone just stood there, a stunned look on their faces, except for Maggie.

She screamed and fell to the floor, sobbing.

Daryl leaned down and tried to comfort her.

Slowly, everyone recovered from their shock and started crying and hugging each other.

Denise raced into the infirmary.

My eyes locked on Enid. Tears were sliding down her cheeks and she ran towards me, wrapping her arms around my neck, hugging me tightly.

I returned the hug and buried my face in her shoulder. That's when I started to sob.

Things were supposed to get better.

I opened my eyes to see Maggie trying to get into the infirmary, but Daryl and Michonne were holding her back.

I watched for a few moments before closing my eyes, unable to take any more.

Things were supposed to get better.
