Tobias

All I could was stand still. My arms fell limp to my sides. Here comes that ball of tread churning inside of me. I haven't felt this way since I was a child. I fall to me knees. Cara slowly bends down so that she's eye level with me.

"Where is she?' I ask staring at the plastered white wall. Everything is muffled and all the colors in the world suddenly dulled. I feel like I'm standing in pit screaming at the top of my lungs but nobody can hear me even though they are walking right by it.

"She's in room 186. But wait, Tobias..!" I see her wave her hand in protest but I'm already running toward the elevator door. I jam my thumb into the button that flashes the number two. The elevator lurches upward. Gosh, I hate elevators.

Before the door is always the way open I'm rushing down the hall looking right and left for her room number. 183....184....185....186! I skid to halt and bend against the wall catching my breath. I smooth down my shirt. I slowly fit my hand around the silver knob attached to the bleach white hospital door and turn it pushing the door open inch by inch.
